would be also cool if there was some series explaining the origin of these 字 Yi use, because they seem to have little to no sense.

Good idea. I was also going to make some videos focused on learning the script along with the vocabulary. Let me know if you have any other ideas. In my previous video, I mention that the Yi script had the same origin as the Chinese Script.

Notice that ꋬꂻ changes to ꋬꂺ due to tone sandhi before the duplication particle.

Also, I thought ꂯ was the future tense, as in when he says ꆏꇿꁧꂯ? it means "Where will you go?".

    • @spectator352
      @spectator352 3 месяца назад +1

It would be unnecessary as kat (ꇿ) already indicates a question being "where?"

@@spectator352 You have raised an important point! Remember that this description of the Nuosu particle ꂯ (mix) is from an outside perspective. So, it functions as both an interrogative particle and a future tense particle depending on the context. There is some overlap here, because asking about what will happen in the future can have the same meaning as a future tense, but not all situations will match up with this perspective.
Here are some examples from Gerner 2013: A Grammar of Nuosu:
      As an interrogative particle:
      A. As solicitation particle
In wh-questions and alternative questions, the discourse marker ꂯ mix emphasizes the speaker’s wish for feedback, glossable as ‘what do you think’.
      (227) a. ꊿꋋꑷꀁꇬꀋꐥ,ꇿꁧꂯ?
co cyx yie ix go ap- jjo, kat bbo mix?
people DEM.PROX CL home NEG- have INT.where go SOL
‘Nobody is at home, where have they gone?’
      As a future tense particle:
The idea of remote future can only be expressed by bare mix (by respecting the
      person and control constraint).
      (226) ꉢꃀꌠꄮꇬꆏꉘꁌꇬꑲꂷꃼꂯ。
nga mop su te go ne hxo pu go yix ma vy mix.
1P.SG old man time SENT.TOP TOP mountain LOC house CL buy FUT
‘When I am old I will buy a house in the mountains.’

@@ThePharmaDharma I still wouldn't directly and fully call it interrogative, mostly a soliciting particle - asking for feedback.

Good idea, and obviously the translations here are not an exact science. This may be closer to how the word is more commonly used, so thanks for your interpretation.

In the Sheng Zha dialect (the prestige dialect) of Nuosu, u and ur assimilate after laterals, and retain their rounding
/l̥v̩ʷ˧/ [l̥l̩ʷ˧] ꆭ hlu "to stir-fry", (Like, an "L sound" with an initial breath, but you keep your mouth rounded)
      After a labial nasal (M, N, or NG): [m̩ʷ]
/m̥v̩ʷ˧/ [m̥m̩ʷ˧] ꂥ hmu "mushroom" (Difficult to say, but the lips are rounded after breathing out of your nose and then an "M sound")
A labial trill is produced with labial or alveolar stops:
/ⁿdv̩ʷ˨˩/ [ⁿdʙβ̩˨˩] ꅥ ndup "to hit" (This word has the bilabial trill. The lips are trilled just after making a soft "nD sound".)
