    For those of you defending seaworld I admire your dedication, but even if (using if because I'm not sure what happens behind the scenes although I do believe it's not good) they're physically healthy that does not change the mental and emotional damage. If someone breaks into your house, steals your sister, mom, dad, brother, child, cousin, etc, but feeds them, is that ok? No it's not, so what's the difference? It's not even just with whales, there's lions, tigers, bears, monkeys etc that all should be released. We should experiance this all naturally..

    • @LadyFranch
      @LadyFranch 10 лет назад +2

      whales are not people, we barely understand how people think let alone an animal from an environment completely foreign to most people.

    • @supaman8686
      @supaman8686 10 лет назад +4

      They don't just pluck healthy animals from the wild. While that may have once been the case, that is no longer what they do in zoos and aquariums. The whales you see at seaworld are all bred there. Release these animals and you're taking them from an optimal controlled environment to the unpredictable wild, which would induce stress, thus being detrimental to their health.

    • @TedxTeto
      @TedxTeto 10 лет назад +5

      +SuperMrMaximo you can see the pain, you really can. You can tell by the octaves of their calls, to the flipped over fin.

    • @TedxTeto
      @TedxTeto 10 лет назад +6

      +supaman8686 yes but those whales are more dangerous then the ones in the wild, they're use to humans, but have ill feelings towards us. There's already been so many pointless deaths of trainers in seaworld, and sea world puts it off as 'trainer error' because they need money. They shouldn't have been plucked in the first place. You saying that they'll get stressed in the wild is simply making the situation worse, we've stripped them of their home, it's sick. They should be able to experiance the ocean, they're not a form of entertainment, they're living, beautiful creatures and if you want to experiance them go and buy a boat.
      There's a pod out there who's miserable searching for one of those orcas that was taken away, and they'll never stop. Ever.
      Orcas are known as spirtual animals, and you're right, we don't know what they're thinking, but the way they act, the way they connect to their family, it's a loyalty even humans don't have. In sea world the orcas get in fights, that's because they don't know eachother. The dolphins avoid them, in the ocean the dolphins tease the orcas. Seaworld isnt even educational! They manufacture it to make you feel.

    Orca's should be free, I've been to sea world and I absolutely loved the Shamu show. I looked closely to the orca, I saw rake marks like the orca have been mistreated. Also I can tell that the Orca's teeth was screwed on. The only reason Tilikum killed the trainer because he was going crazy, he was constantly swimming in circles when the shows were over. the only reason Hugo killed himself is because he didn't want to suffer anymore. All Their was no attacks by orcas in the wild, only in captivity. I think that only wounded or sick orcas should be in captivity to be token care of. Free the whales.

      Laurence x PETA is a disgrace, they lie and have the craziest ideas. I can go on about it so much, but overall, PETA is manipulative and lies so much to get more attention to themselves. They are a cancer because they make other animal welfare organizations look bad. If people really want to help animals, they need to donate to organizations like ASPCA, WWF, or a local shelter, preferably a no kill, non profit animal shelter.
      Anyways, SeaWorld is definitely not animal friendly. They will lie to you all day and night and do anything to make it look like they just love their whales and everything is jolly and happy. They are a company, they are out for their own interest and profit, they dont care about how their animals are actually treated, they just care about making it seem that way so people dont feel as bad and keep visiting.

    For people saying these Orcas couldn't be released, their is a thing called Sea pens, which many animals use and are able to be released if they past the past. Even if they're captive born Scientists have said their wild instincts will kick in. And Sea Pens are more cheaper than bigger tanks. These animals aren't tricking considering they log at the surface (Not sleeping) float on their backs for long periods of time, get locked in pools from their family (Videos on Instagram) and being separated from their mothers (around 7+ have.) considering many Orcas have died at Seaworld from, diseases, Aggressive fights and even suicide, they are not thriving they're surviving.

American Bison, Arabian Oryx and Przewalski's Horse are all animals that without the help of zoos would be extinct right now. I'd recommend researching these creatures and the amazing work zoos went through to save these species. If it weren't for zoos we wouldn't even have a conservation movement. Now I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the first place you saw a lion or tiger wasn't in South Africa or India. It was probably in a zoo being studied and educating the public.

      Living in a concrete bath tub is the most detrimental thing for their health. These whales are far to intelligent to live their whole life in a bare tank, they need the enrichment the wild provides for them.

The Free Willy-Keiko Foundation and The Humane Society of the United States re-established management of the project at that time until Keiko's death in 2003. Keiko was finally released in the open in July 2002. However, about six weeks later he showed up in a Norwegian fjord, apparently seeking contact with human beings and allowing children to ride on his back.[10] He continued to follow a boat responsible for his care and failed to reintegrate into the wild.[11] From en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keiko_%28orca%29 Ya lets put them all back in the wild!! not a good idea! They should have bigger pens I agree but to put them back in the wild is misguided.

      he cant be freed, he would never survive he doesn't know how to live in the wild, even a sea pen would be bad because he would be stressed at the new environment with bad water strange animals and no vet nary care, its not ideal but he's better where he is, hes now used to the perfect water and the environment of seaworld

    For all who think i'm a kid well i'm not i believe 18 and older is considered an adult and i said I 'had' a shool trip which was 8 years ago in my sophomore year in high school and i still believe that seaworld treats their animals better then any other marine life parks and are rescued and rehabilitated when they get hurt in the wild from poachers, boaters or getting beached. Think of the good that seaworld does instead of all the bad especially when the oil disaster happened and all the animals they saved.

      Wow you are really naive. You might be an adult but are still naive. You should do more research. They were never rescued and taken to help them heal. The whales were taken from their families and they were healthy. They are put in a tiny pool 24/7 for the rest of their lives. They should be in the ocean where they belong. They don't capture whales anymore because they make whales from tilkum there and know they don't need to take whales from the wild. But yes, they did kidnap whales. Unfortunately, most of the whales never lived in the ocean. Imagine never being able to go outside and explore the world. You were taken from your family and have to live in a small apartment and can't leave. You really think that is good for them? That is illegal if it happens to a person, but if it happens to a whale, it is entertainment and good for them? That is not possible to be healthy like they need to be. They can't get the exercise they need and can't hunt for food like they need to. I am sorry, but you sound dumb. There is a lot more that happens in there but I don't need to go into the whole thing. That should be enough for you to get. Do research so you actually know about it.

      Laura Hoilko you know how they get orcas?
      They separate them from their mothers as a baby,Then they will punish them for training like at Tilikums first Marine park,They put him and a trained orca inside to touch the ball,And if one failed they would not be fed. Sea-world keeps them in tiny tanks.Its cruel to keep a Orca inside a little tank everyday of their lives and perform.
      Sea-world lied about the death of Dawn and the trainers that died by an orca.They put Orcas in the tank and they will fight each other,And if the Orca has a wound sea-world will not try to help.They simply watch the Orca bleed to death,They are kept in small tanks at night for sleep.Its cruel to the Orcas which are suppose to be swimming in a ocean.Not in a tank for entertainment.

      Not from being unhappy but from swimming too close to the surface for an extended period of time. Scientist don't know why it occurs in 100% of males in captivity and only a select few of females in captivity. One of those things we probably will never know. But the poor things would NEVER be deformed like that if SeaWorld would have left them alone in the ocean, or had the ones born in captivity in sea pens that were deep so they could experience the ocean. I feel so bad for these animals.

      Okay fine so they're captive-bred. So they can teach them tricks why can't they teach them how to hunt and when they have enough of them to make up a pod release them back into the ocean where they belong. but then they wouldn't be interested in teaching them to survive on their own because then that wouldn't put cash in their pockets now would it.

    Im so sick of people calling Seaworld disgusting and animal haters, if you actually have been to the park you would see that half of the proceeds you pay in a ticket goes to Seaworld rescue and to help the animals in the wild that get sick or injured get help and get released back into the wild. Seaworld today does not go out in the ocean and steels baby orcas. All the whales in their shows are born and raised their. And second of all they are whales and they have hormones like humans they will reproduce the same as the wild orcas do in the ocean and those so called pills that you's keep talking about are vitamins causes they don't have the proper nutrients like they would in the wild when they hunt. I know cause i had a school field trip to seaworld and we got see what they do to keep the animals healthy and active like they would in the wild. Every piece of jump, fast swim and stop on the platform that you see in the show is what ocras do in the wild. They jump in the wild, they fast swim to hunt for fish and they skim on the bottom of ocean bed to keep themselves cool. the And the tank that you see is not the only tank that have their is a total of 12 tanks that whales get to swim in. The whole point of the show is to show that the whales are incredible creatures and they are endangered by poachers like the japaneese who are killing dolphins. They show how we can save and protect our animal life not only by keeping our waters clean but by helping our environment. So actually physically see and do your facts before you criticize.

      Ok I'm sure you are really young so I won't be rude but all the info you wrote was just plain wrong. These animals swim up to 100 miles a day so putting them in a tank this size is like you living your whole life in a rom the size your bathroom. Second they do give them hormones to breed and also birth control when they don't want them to breed. They also breed them with their own relatives, like mother and son in one instance. And they don't mate naturally they are artificially inseminated. In the wild they live to be 80-100 years old and they only live around 23-30 years in captivity. Doing tricks so they can be fed is not happiness. You should do some reaserch!

      Actually - False. Only one former trainer, Brigitte Pirgit, spoke out against the film and that was AFTER she had already praised it after viewing it at the premiere. She rapidly changed her tune once SeaWorld spoke with her. That is all on indubitable record. Unfortunately, the majority of the information that you are giving is false and nonsense. SeaWorld is a multi-billion dollar company - of course any film against them will have significant detractors. They have the money, power, pull, and resources to be able to combat any negative publicity. Thankfully, Blackfish has had enough circulation to start opening people's eyes a bit. Oh and that anti-Blackfish trainer that you are referring to? She claims that she is 100% against the use of whales in entertainment is apparently all for it when Barbie releases a whale trainer Barbie in support of the use of whales in entertainment. Money and power and make or break the integrity of many individuals, just as in the case of the rotating Brigitte. Sad, common reality.

    In no way am I condoning the treatment and capture of the killer whales at Seaworld because that is unacceptable. If you think that orcas, which are animals meant to swim miles of ocean are being kept adequately in a pool that they swim laps around and have to perform ticks in, if you think that's it's okay you need to rethink. Yes Seaworld does lots of good work with animals and rescuing but treating killer whales like circus animals is unacceptable and its I humane to keep majestic animals like that and make their life consist of performing for food and not being able to be free and roam the oceans. It is wrong and if you need proof watch Blackfish, I personally can't see how anyone thinks it is acceptable for human to treat animals this way it is wrong.

    I hate sea world. It is obvious that the orcas are distressed. The bent fin rarely occurs in the wild. It is a sign of stress and discomfort. Orcas are such intelligent and beautiful creatures. They were made to swim for miles and hunt prey, not to do tricks in a tiny tank and eat cold, dead fish! Sea world is so cruel! Putting these orcas through so much suffering for the amusement of humans! I think that it is more interesting to watch a pod of orcas out in the open sea, to watch them interact with each other, hunt for food and to here them sing, rather than watch them forced to do tricks in a tank. I have never been to sea world and I will never go there. There is no way I will support the cruelty and abuse that goes on there.
    Also, the video was click bait.

    And Blackfish, by the way, is a slanted, purely one-sided movie. Most of it is false. So quit screaming "watch Blackfish" all around. It's meant to make you FEEL, not THINK. There was an interview with a former SeaWorld trainer. He watched the movie and took notes.
    He determined that 85% was false information and twisted information, however 15% was true. Look it up for yourself.

    • @Harmonicdressage
      @Harmonicdressage 11 лет назад +2

      So all the footage was fake? Did you see all of the former trainers from Seaworld commenting on everything? They all lie you think? You think it's totally ok to rip young orcas who normally stay with their mother she dies from their family pods in the ocean, to spend their lifes in a tank doing tricks for a dead fish? It's only about the big money that is in it. Seaworld makes millions, killing orcas and killing people.

    • @sydneyp3357
      @sydneyp3357 11 лет назад +1

      Noor Tanger
      Where did I say it was fake? Where did I say THIS video was fake? The orca didn't "fall". By fall, that would be over the side of the tank. I believe this is sliding, the same behavior wild orcas perform when chasing sea lions up the beach.
      No, the footage wasn't faked, but the FACTS concerning the footage are bent out of proportion and even twisted, to support what they want you to believe. And no, calves should not be separated from their mothers. If they need more orcas in other facilities, send the semen to them, not the calf.
      And since I know someone's going to come up with the issue of rape because I implied artificial insemination , I'm going to get that out in the open now. AI isn't rape. We do it with horses, cows, even OURSELVES. But I don't see anyone screaming rape about that. And if we want to be smartarses about this, technically animals rape each other in the wild. Rape is unconsented sex, is it not? Not every female animal is in heat 24/7, yet males mate with them regardless.

The animals here that perform are always either rescue animals that have been pulled out of things like fishing nets or have otherwise been in life threatening situations. They are only there as long as it takes for them to fully recover and are then released back into the wild and closely monitored to ensure that they transition back to a safe and natural life in the ocean.. LPS ROCKES HA you think Tilikum is cruel?! Why don't you go sit in a bathtub for years on end after being taken from your family and being mixed with a bunch of other family's. Not to mention if you don't do a trick the right way you don't get fed. Oh and Tilikum was starved as a calf so he could fit into a small storage area along with the fact that he was abused by the female whales because male whales in the wild tend to stay on the outside of the pod but he couldn't go anywhere. TRY AGAIN know your facts before you start bashing on a helpless animal.

    I think the whole seaworld organisation is sick and disgusting. Let the innocent whales go. You think it was there fault they killed a trainer. Put your position in there's for a day. Wouldn't you hate that. Let them go back to their families. Out of that shallow little pool with all the music. Let them back into their place. The sea where thy are free. Cruel people.

    I didn't see anything coming out of the tank. The time where it was on the thing, it was a trick that all shows have. Maybe this is the first time you ever went to a shamu show

    I watched this video to see 'when' the whale fell out of the tank. This whale isn't falling out of the tank. He performed a behavior. That ledge is built into the tank so that the whale can slide out and do his presentation. In the Japanese video, the whale (not a killer whale) does jump out of the tank. The title on this video is misleading.

    Ok ok the guy got enough hate. I've grown up at Sea World I was born in Ohio and I went to Sea World of Ohio then I went to Sea World of Orlando and now I got to Sea World of San Diego over time I've heard and seen some crazy things stuff I agree with and stuff I don't but Sea World is the reason a small town kid from Ohio is studying at one of the best Marine Biology Schools in the Country University of California without Sea World I wouldn't even know what a Orca is TBH so back of the guy and LONG LIVE SEAWORLD oh and btw nobody even knew any of the Orcas names until that documentary came out and all the bad rep came out. I Knew the names of mostly all of them when I was 14 how cause I asked the trainer I didn't wait for the news to come out to tell me who died like most you ban wagons.

    Please sign my petition on Care2 called Free Shoujo. This petition goes to all politicians worldwide to stand up for baby dolphin Shoujo and put pressure on the Japanese government to release all dolphins from captivity back into the ocean and to stop capturing dolphins.
