True! But I don't think the image is supposed to simulate a "real" (or unedited) image after it has been edited like that. I think the point is to make something different, maybe a bit more exaggerated than what you COULD get from a camera/photographer.

Even if its unnatural (which it isnt), sometimes, there are some of type of photos are allowed to make it unnatural. I see lots of em in commercial photo like car commercial, or sports wear commercial. We know exactly that the background of those commercial photos are fake, but we kinda like feel okay about it. Its not like the editor sees it unnatural and then decides to "ah damn, i will dump this one"

Photoshop is becoming far far less demanding on knowledge. Back then in PS 7 or CS3 versions it was something different :) Everybody can PS these days. So much work saved.
It's really not that hard after a while. There may be a thousand ways to do the same thing in a lot of cases, but there's almost always an option to do almost anything in just a couple of clicks, especially with all of the recent updates.

It simulates panning. Usually done with cars. This is just a demonstration. And yes - looks unnatural - but - kinda makes is ad-like :)

Not really, his way blurs based on perspective where as motion blur will blur everything in the same direction.
