Dropping Cross Bow Bolts From 150 Meters / 500 Feet!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 сен 2024
- We dropped cross bow bolts, Stretch Armstrong, coconut and soda can from our drone that was flying at height of 150 meters or 500 feet. Don't try this at home or anywhere else, we are professionals and took care about safety during the experiment.
When the lake freezes I will revisit this dropping stuff from the drone thing. The field is bit too soft and there isn't any large tarmac/concrete areas to be used for this since we need really large area with out any people to keep things safe. I will probably also try to get permit to fly higher than regular limit of 150 meters for that video.
Try dropping some big lead fishing weights next and attach some little fins so they look like little bombs
Please drop red hot steel on this car from 500 feet
For bolts all you need is a archery hunting rest (those ones with brush on the inside) on 3 support arms to steady it and just have a little hook on the release end then it will be very accurate 🎯

You two folks are soooooo lucky to have met each other. I'm envious!
Finnish Air Force strikes with amazing precision
JDAM stretch armstorngs are our secret weapon :D
Looks like the "Rods from the gods" system actually came online. The problem is that the Finnish seem to have beat the US to it.
Fall colours! 😍🍁🍂
And this is one reason I am coming to Finland
Some of the trees and leaves are turning "Leoko Red". 🍁 Very beautiful. Fun extra content this time too. 🐱
@@WoodworkerDon Leoko red trees 😍
Autumn not fall. You're not american.
@@simontay4851 No shit Sherlock, I am Finnish who makes videos to Americans. Why should I use british english instead of american english?
That can of Pepsi dropping form the sky reminded me of the movie called _The Gods Must Be Crazy_
great movies!
Haven’t thought about that movie in over 20 years.
I am starting to enjoy this channel more than your main one(that one is fun too though). Theres a lot of variety on this one.
Can you drop the hydraulic press from 150m
You should drop steel bearing balls
I will drop those on the frozen lake! There they are easy to spot if we get ice before snow
Beyond the press good idea, they should drop pretty straight as well I think. I wonder if they can punch a hole right through. Maybe you should try with different thicknesses of the ice, though that would be a lot of work.
Yes!
You'll have to find a way to carry a whole bunch at once and drop them all like a cluster bomb
Arrows shaking violently - Lauri: "looks safe"
buy lifting drone - drop 10kg red hot steel on lake
Long time watcher from USA. Love the videos!
pick up the car with a drone and drop it on arrows? 🤔
Car is too heavy for drone, obviously.

@@simontay4851 ... WOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSHHHHHHH
Wonder how many DJI phantoms it takes to lift the car. This needs to be attempted.
@@redsquirrelftw good idea

"Nothing :o "
Hahaha
Simple answer to Lauri's question "What is my prize if I hit the target?".... easy... *Salimiakki!!!!!!* LOL
It's salmiakki, but yeah, that's pretty good. (You need to say that with Lauri's accent)
You guy's know how to have fun. Loved it, thanks.
Longer string to get object out of prop wash

Anni has an amazing laugh 😂 and another great video 👍
You have better aim than the How Ridiculous guys (and you actually get to the point in your videos!).
You just need a super massive drone and drop the car from it lol
Supermassive drone aka helicopter.
Alternatively a crane.
If you dropped the car onto some crossbow bolts then you'd be really getting somewhere!
Yeah, those guys, tried to hit a trampoline below, but a couple of their bowling balls, exploded on the concrete, below the dam.
PIN
@@notthatadam Alright, so what we do is get the car and attach it to a crane that can lift it to 150m or so, while inflating the tyres as high as they can go. It lands on a massive bed of paper before another, equally thick and large bed of paper is quickly put over the top of it and the whole thing is pressed with a 1,500,000ton hydraulic press to create the world's first 6x exploding, flying car hamburger. Either that or Lauri gets a visit from the CIA because they want to learn how to create such destructive prowess for themselves.
The coconuts made me think of a certain Monty Python skit.
Stretch is visible for a short time at the top left of the High Quality Slow Motion Replay. He swoops diagonally across the corner and out of frame at around 2:34.
Someone needs to tell that drone you're not allowed to complain about the cold in that country.
You guys are hilarious. Very entertaining content. I would love to have your job.👍👍🇨🇦
Thanks! This was also fun video to film :D
Insert obligatory Monty Python Joke here...
"Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?!"
😅 I couldn't help myself!
Not at all, they could be carried.
Give WW1 style flechettes and darts a try, those that were dropped from aircraft of those times towards troops in trenches.
They need a bigger drone for that :)
Those flechettes and darts were quite small, the WW1 era airplanes could carry hundreds of those for crew to dump them on the enemy troops. Maybe 10mm diameter steel bar, head turned sharp in a lathe, 3/4 of the dart milled with four cuts to have sort of fins. DJI should lift at least few with ease.
Dude! Absolutely brilliant.
You need some sort of cluster munition to improve your chances. What about those small firework things you throw at the ground?
Lol you guy have the best fun cheers
"what did you do?"
"I dont know."
*does it again* lol
Great video! Very cool to see how different objects fall from sky. 👍
Also very cute extra content 😻
Well we all know what has to be done with the car. Call the sons.

I have never laughed so hard before with one of your videos - this is a good comedy, this one. :D
Try the bolts again with a longer string. Maybe 2 meters, that will greatly reduce the turbulence.
Drop red hot steel vs. Frozen lake. Guaranteed 20 million views!
Perhaps shorter strings would prevent the dropped objects from swinging so much and thus improving your aim.
Yep they helped quite a lot. At least with the drone's ability to stabilize it self. But the swinging effected surprisingly little on trajectory of stuff. Or at least with the cross bow bolts that flied straight. When you compensated for wind they had around 5 m hit radius even when they moved like crazy under the air from the drone.
Beyond the press doesn’t a pendulum always pass under its point of suspension? That might help a little: there’s some chance it will be released almost right...
Plastic tube attached to the bottom and inside it put arrows in? Could that work?
Kiitoksia videoista!
Dude you've GOT to say coconut again! That was awesome 👏 🤣
failure is always an option. love your content fails and all
Great video. I think dropping a smaller (cheaper) drone and see if it can save itself from a crash, if you turn it on while its falling.
You guys are very funny. Finland looks a lot like Canada.
Solid mount to the drone then when you drop it will guide better. I fly r/c alot and have done something like this before
Anni should have said I already clean your workroom all year :D That would have been funny.
Next time, could you try taping a straw to the object you are dropping, and run a piece of string from the target through the straw to the drone, so the object will fall along the path of the string?
You should drop waterballons filled with colored water on the frozen lake! Make some nice art! ^^
You should try a swallow for the coconut, just be sure to use an african one.
What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
African or european swallow.
But African swallows are non-migratory.
Stop! This is becoming silly.
so no monty python comments about the coconut? can the drone carry it as fast as an unladen sallow.
no swallows are very quick you would have to use a racing drone
if it's carrying a coconut it's not an unladen swallow is it
European or African coconut?
That's why I came to the comments
european or african?
Are you allowed to buy and build rockets in Finland? That would be really fun to watch: Launching rockets from the drone at the car :D
Stretch was top left
Nice video. Thank you for your incredible channels :)
Poor Stretch. Lots of videos out there recently of him getting destroyed in many different ways.
Nice car! I participated in SkillsUSA nationals twice and SkillsFinland were wonderful people when I met them. Love from USA
Stretch deserves the Oscars for his performance today...he dodged those arrows with great bravery...
You should machine different shapes, arrow tips, and test which one is most accurate dropped from the drone. Also use a stiff wire to hang from the drone to prevent swinging
Much shorter string or even better, attach the payload directly to the drone. This would prevent wobble and tumble on flight and release. Fun video.
Shorten the string so the load doesn't swing around so much and you will get a more accurate drop... love the video...
does the writing on the car say "Crap Oil".... lol...
Who needs a 45m tower when you have a 2000$ drone?
2000€
Excellent video. Maybe try this with as many bolts as the drone can handle👌
Nice Vid. The siera has lot of space in the back. Would be nice to see what that car can actually move. Some logs or 1t of lake ice or steel stuff???
it drops in the top left of the screen...have to look close to see..great video Lauri and Anna!
*Anni
This is fantastic. Great idea
If i remember it right, you have a little tungsten cube. Drop that, because it is about as heavy as gold and thus it's weight/drag ratio is almost perfect.
make a car video of cheap mans nitros, spray brake cleener, alcohol and stuff to your cars intake.. see what is best and blow the engine up really bad at the end of the video.
awesome idea!! i agree with you!!
Can you put information about the drone in the description please?
Lauri, do you have idea boards ? I would guess you have words you connect: ice lake, car, drone, smashinator, HP, cubinator, worm maker5m etc., playdough, bearing ball, etc.
When they were zoomed in to the car at the beginning, I expected it to blow up.
Fun video guys. I am surprised that the arrow point didn't break the windshield.have a great week
Even the Finnish nowhere is beautiful.
Thanks for the video.
You should find a way to make deliveries with the drone. Make it drop a bag of fast food with a parachute and make sure the food survives the drop. Bonus points if you can fly besides a moving vehicle for a drivethrough-like experience.
Try using a shorter line on the crossbow bolts so they don't move around so much as you lift them.
I wonder if making the strings longer will make the items less likely to be affected by the propellers. Maybe wear helmets too? Great video!
Idea to penetrate ice: steel tube filled with lead, precision ground carbide tip and smallest possible fletching. Make it so heavy the drone can barely lift it.
At 1:02... This is why we can't have nice things Anni. Lol.
Best part of the video is when the girl picks up Armstrong and plays with him. Absolutely hilarious. Seems like an awesome chick.
I think it would work better if you attached long card board or paper tubes on both sides of the drone and put the crossbow bolts inside. Then the bolts will drop straight down from the drone and won’t be stuck in the backwash of the propellers like they are when attached by a string. And I mean directly to the body of a drone between the propellers. You would have to use two to balance it.
Wow, you were a bit prophetic there, now my feed is full of drops from drones but it's not soda cans...
can you make bag to hang under the drone that the release lets one side fall, so you can drop marbles or bearings? Maybe dropping 50 marbles at once will give you a greater chance to hit the target.
You should drop an anvil onto a roadrunner
You should keep the string as short as possible and make a custom tip for the bolt or arrow to add a little more weight for more penetrating power
I would like to see you do this again just add some led counterweights to the bottom or maybe in the middle and see what happens it'll help stabilize the Drone from blowing everything and you'll be able to get a more accurate target
why not start the drone from the roof of the car and just fly straight up?
Best extra content!! 👀
You need a flag or wind sock to show wind direction on the ground. You should use short lines. Less swing from propeller wash. Drain the liquid from the coconut. Less weight.
7:54 Anni's thoughts: Hmm, not appropriate to tell in a yt video :D
To eliminate most (or at least some) of the swinging back and forward you need to remove the string and find a way to directly attach the items to the drone
I think I could 3d-print somekind of device that could hold stuff that I am dropping
Amusing! I'd like to see how far the arrows stuck in the ground.
Your should do a new series of weaponizing a drone!!
GRAMS?! METERS?!
You should drop bouncy balls, darts like the ones in a bar, or some electronics like an old phone
Hydraulic press versus air and diesel fuel. Like an engine. I have no idea how you could do that safely, but it would be really neat. Also, maybe try ramping the car over something.
drop a handful of throwing darts, they are light and thin point so will definately stick into whatever you drop them on.
Should have *much longer* strings/cords for whatever you are lifting...maybe less turbulence from the rotors. Also some lead weights at the front of the arrows would be good...more dangerous!
When you mentioned it is cold I just then realized Anni wears a woolcap and I got confused, because we had +25°C today...
...anyway, how about dropping a bunch of paperplanes?
...or milk for a cup of coffee on the ground?
Hello Lauri and Anni,
At the end of the video, I spotted a traditional carpet, just like ones made here in Romania by my grandma some years ago.
😉☺👍
Make some more machining videos please :)

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallo...I mean...drone?
mc huhtala"s idea was the best, you should try that out!!
If you don't have an australian gravity research tower, this is the next best thing. I don't think it will lift bowling balls, anvils or giant steel arrows though. Check out the youtube channel "How Ridiculous" :D
I can't stand their over the top aussie accent
Just saw your vid, I like that you use and then drink Pepsi MAXX that is my favorite drink. I'm a Pepsiholic.. LOL Been catching up on this channel. Finland (at least what I've from what you show ) looks so nice. Almost like Alaska where I use to live.
