Vittorio Penna I realised that too.. Although it is slightly different. Knowing the backstory to such a minor detail makes me feel good about myself as a fan lol
First Name Last Name his voice was amazing throughout 1998-1999. he had this fast vibrato that pretty much disappeared by the recording of the debut album. listen to “No more keeping my feet on the ground” from the Safety EP.... awesome singing
This version is much more produced than the Parachutes version. I wouldn't go as far to call it 'better' but the mood expressed here is completely different than the mellow acoustic version, this is obviously more layered.
Mindblowing, what a gem! I really loved this indie/psychedelic era of Coldplay. THere was a time they had the right influences Floyd, Radiohead etc and now they're inspired by Beyonce.
This song came on a compilation cd from parlophone called flavour of the label, it was the unreleased version of spies before the actual release of parachutes
Iam big fan of them even their early days and also their was band a skylit drive from Lodi California Jordan was the first lead singer until he got replace bye Michael jagmin
i found this demo so many years ago that i believe its gone, there used to be a website called coldplaybootlegs but sadly it was blocked many years ago :/ All the stuff you can see here uploaded comes from downloading stuff for 8 years now, so its all stored in my personal hard drives
What does this song really talks about? I had always like the idea that the song talks about schizophrenia but i dont think that's what it talks about haha
The "spies" are meant to represent the fears in your life. They surround you and watch you. "If we don't hide now they're gonna catch us where we sleep"
since this happened 5 years i dont remember anymore but all i can say is that it was on a old now deactivated coldplay forum between the uploaded files
Only for hardcore fans...The ending of this version (with the piano and the guitar) was used live at the Glastonbury '02 version of Spies!
Vittorio Penna I realised that too.. Although it is slightly different. Knowing the backstory to such a minor detail makes me feel good about myself as a fan lol
And many other times during 2000 in concerts
Definitely hearing more Radiohead influence here than in the studio version. Fantastic :-)
HIS VOICE IN THIS

@@coldacre Also ode to deodorant, where he barely sounds like himself, he is godly in that
@@superbogopop he had a great voice in their very early days, seemed to get weaker when the first album came out. strange
Frr

Sometimes less is more, the parachutes version is better imo
I keep coming back to listen to this. Absolutely amazing.
January 2019 , NO DISLIKES. Brilliant.
Love the Piano ending... beautiful
Yea jinxed it
Mindblowing, what a gem! I really loved this indie/psychedelic era of Coldplay. THere was a time they had the right influences Floyd, Radiohead etc and now they're inspired by Beyonce.
every influence has to be respected! no matter the genre or what they sing about!
no. coldplay became annoying pop. becoming pop is never good.
well that's your opinion lol
lol death to fucking beyonce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beyonce is also a wonderful musician so y’all need to chill
I really love it! Sounds like x&y era
This song came on a compilation cd from parlophone called flavour of the label, it was the unreleased version of spies before the actual release of parachutes
Beatiful version the coldplay is the best
i like this version better
Love the spunky version this is--I love both, and the contrast is super fun.
Damn... I think I like this more than the final album version. However I do see why they changed it to fit the album... but still god damn.
Much better than the original.
No fucking way
Kartik Joshi Yes fucking way.
+Arjav Rawal Well this version does not have that vibe that makes me ralate to the past. The original version is nostalgic.
Kartik Joshi Agree to disagree, I suppose. I think this version gives me that vibe of Coldplay trying to do a good Radiohead-inspired song.
Arjav Rawal Whatever. The original version is more like COLDPLAY.
Probably the only thing i didn't know about coldplay ... THANKS
Love the pictures and amazing demo!
I loved Coldplay so much...

I love the picctuteeees of you at different stages of your life
Iam big fan of them even their early days and also their was band a skylit drive from Lodi California Jordan was the first lead singer until he got replace bye Michael jagmin
this one is more inventive i must admit, but the slow rhythm and acoustic feel of the other is more enticing imo. interesting c:
His voice
Ese estilo más influenciado en la electrónica de Radiohead da una sensación de desconcierto en un mundo alborotado si dirección alguna.
muy buena esta versión :D
spies,spies...oout of the water
Melodia ❤️
Now I can't make up my mind about which one I like more...

The vídeo is magnificent. I need you.
Could you give me the page to have the original demo?
i found this demo so many years ago that i believe its gone, there used to be a website called coldplaybootlegs but sadly it was blocked many years ago :/ All the stuff you can see here uploaded comes from downloading stuff for 8 years now, so its all stored in my personal hard drives
Just use a RUclips to mp3 website
I was 17 that year
What does this song really talks about? I had always like the idea that the song talks about schizophrenia but i dont think that's what it talks about haha
Rodrigo Guadiana More like paranoid schizophrenia. The constant, irrational fear of being watched or spied on is a manifestation of mental disorder.
The "spies" are meant to represent the fears in your life. They surround you and watch you. "If we don't hide now they're gonna catch us where we sleep"

This is actually the original as you may see, it's an early demo. haha
more sounds like pop, this version can't be suited parachutes album theme
Sambuu-Yondon Enkhtuvshin hence why they didn’t release it
