    Nice looking paddle! I am impressed you were able to do it all in one day. I am currently refinishing some old paddles and it is 3 days alone on the finish (that marine spar varnish sure takes some time to cure!) One day I would love to build my own canoe :)

      Was lucky to find a lightweight wood like Aspen in an 8 inch width, which made it all a heck of a lot easier. The epoxy was ready the next day but you're right... Added coats of Gleam would take days longer. Best of luck on your restoration!

    mahogany from the rainforest for a paddle???? bs

      I use light red "Philippine Mahogany" available and sustainable from a national retailer, though experts classify that species as Lauan, not the endangered Mahogany from South America and elsewhere. It is sold by Mastercraft as "Mahogany" but it isn't the hard rain forest variety. Thanks for keeping me honest...
