  • This drill has a lot of bad reviews but it seems related to quality control rather then inherent design issues. It does seem well built with good features and all ball bearing construction and a all metal keyless chuck with 2700 rpm and a 7 amp motor it has plenty of power for most homeowner uses.

I just picked one of these up from Menards for $40. It seems to be good quality and cost me 1/4 of what a Makita would have.

That particular drill looks pretty solid. Great deal for $35. If I bought the lemon I would be really pissed off!

Contrary to popular belief, 80%+/- tools are within 7-13% of durability variance.
Performance is overly focused it seems.

Super great video!! I have the same drill and when I attempted to do a chuck replacement, as the chuck is permanently locked, the affixed/immobile parts were completely different! Very "all-over-the-place" with the quality of this drill. I have this and a nice Kobalt Double Drive handheld powerless. I would rather randomly stab a hole in my drywall with my screwdriver than mess with this corded drill anymore.

Never seen, or used, one of these. (My Ace Hardware only carries the main tools competitors.) Interesting to see your vid. Love Echo's second opinion!! The disassembly and explanations are very helpful. (Glad to learn about the Kelos bits.) Great vid, Ty.

Looks like it’s patterned after the old Milwaukee holeshooter (The 1/2” with Jacobs Ball Bearing Chuck was and is still my favorite). As long as you relegate it to light/medium duty it should be a great little drill.

Pretty sure they're JIS screws, which they use on all their tools. Japan in general is very heavily invested in JIS and not very interested in torx.

What is that peanut butter looking grease they use?

I like the 1200 RPM 3/8 drills better. In metal the bits last longer and theres more torque. Unfortunatly they have become very rare.

i use a cordless DeWalt drill daily as an installer and the chuck never loosens I don't know why these corded drill chucks can't hold onto a bit properly

Hi. Machinist here, she also owns one of these drill motors. I had at first thought I was going to leave your video to find what I'm actually looking for (someone removing the chuck, I just like to see it done before I try🙂). You did well and I watched to the end even though I didn't see the chuck come off.
I do have a couple things to mention/ask; I couldn't see you slip the drill shank into the chuck but as you did speak to my objection with keyless, I want to ask/advise: did and do you seat your drills against the floor of the chuck if they're long enough? If so, do not do that. The jaws likely will not seat and the drill is likely to slip. Also you some of the jaws' being ground to center, you were not incorrect, I'll add though; any 3 jaw chuck whether drill or lathe will be sloppy in comparison to collets and such.
Altogether you did well, if my opinion carries any weight. 😁
Oh also I am so not here to slather you in my snobbery. If I sound snobby it's prolly due to my actual knowledge and confidence. Confidence is tricky. 🙂

They exist. It's Metabo HPT (Hitachi power tools). Separate from metabo (germany).
