I'm 49 and thinking in start on parkour. I didn't even give a second thought to the idea that I'm too old. I'm actually climbing every day and I have more energy than the majority of twenty years old that go to the climbing center. I'm training every day, non-stop, David Goggins style, around 4 hours per day, and really I feel like in my twenties or thirties. Age is in the mind if you take care of your habits, especially diet and sleeping.
It has not always been like that though. At the beginning of my forties I started to felt old, my joints hurting and my energy in general low, but it was all the sugar and processed food that made my body "old". Once I understood this and went on a healthy diet everything went to normal. At 49 I have more energy than ever before in my life, my joints are twenty again, my brain is sharp as hell, I'm always charged and ready to go and my body heals faster than ever. Keto carnivore changed my life!

34 years old here. Practiced parkour from 18 to 27 aprox and really miss it. What kinda diet brought back your old days energy? Would come in handy 😉

Yes, I believe he does still train pretty regularly. I haven't talked to him in a while as he's from South Texas and I'm North Texas

I'm 57 and just started training two months ago today. I'm terribly out of shape after two years of work-from-home and getting over 35 pounds overweight. I've lost 15 pounds so far and made great strides on strength and endurance. But I have a long way to go and can tell that learning the skills and coordination and gaining flexibility is going to be slow going for someone my age.

15 pounds! That's amazing! Over the pandemic, I took a lot of inspiration from the young UK parkour community. Some may still be in their teens (Team Phat), but they're still really struggling to achieve what THEY want to do with it! I'm 53, myself, and I love that you're here too! If you don't already, please follow Storror (a lovely bunch of lads from Brighton, England), and I would also suggest Travis Verky as an outstanding athlete in the sport. Best of luck to you, this is such a creative sport and there are no rules!

@@Jolar70 I am a female in my fifties. Are your recommendations for someone my age? I mean do they do easy progressions on their channels or are they for inspiration?

@@siphobrisloks8133 It's been a circatious journey. I tore my meniscus snowboarding two years ago and have been on a long recovery from that, but I am back to training from time to time. Had pulmonary embolisms last fall and that has set me back quite a bit.

Great inspiration. I'm 39, I've started experimenting with parkour a bit last year and more so this year, along with martial arts, calisthenics, and everything else I try to do. I don't have time to attend any clubs or anything as I go straight from work to dinner and napping with my son and my wife works every third weekend... but just making small progress and keeping it safe while challenging myself mentally I've been able to develop some skills on my own. :) Robert already has some cool skills... I think I can do what he did in the video except for the lazy vault, but he does it more smoothly... for sure it's great to attend a club, but even if you're not able to, you can still with gradual steps and RUclips tutorials learn stuff on your own, as long as you know how to fall safely. :)

This is great. What better training regime than moving about with agility like this. Lifting heavy is over rated for longevity and general health as you get older. Body weight exercise and balance like this are superb, more gyms like this please

No. Clearly not. Go for it, clearly. Just because you don't have the same pace than you had in your 20s doesn't mean you can't at all. Parkour is about adaptation. Nobody asks you to go for a 10m jump between too roofs, it's just about gaining control over your body to cross the obstacles you decide to cross. :)
