nice guide. For beginners there is always one advice - stack as many spies as possible and you are golden. With +4+6 card advantage you simply can't lose
Whenever possible, YES! In my opinion, that’s also the easiest way to try and unlock the Steam achievement “Killed It!” (where you need to win a game of Gwent with 187+ points in one given round) Thanks so much for watching and for providing feedback as well- I appreciate the additional tip! 😊
Thanks Devi for posting this - It is the most clear and easy to grasp explanation of how Gwent works- until i came across this post, i was struggling, now my win ratio is approximately 75/100, more practice needed.
I am so incredibly touched that this seemed to prove itself an effective resource for you! Any time that I can help other people come to love (or, at the very least understand) Gwent, that makes me all the more happy. Keep me updated with your journey and how addicted you become in the future… 😂 I should have some more tip videos out soon, starting at the end of this week, so hopefully they can provide some more helpful strategies for you to use as well. Happy Gwenting! 😊
@@DeviantDreamers I will keep you updated , I am already trying to form a simpler version of it for playing cards actually - Just for passing time with friends with, that cannot afford the actual gwent cards (yes i already looked up if you can get them, and how much.....£200+ Is a very steep amount so improvisation is in order), I think it is safe to say my addiction is already forming 🤣 As a former poker player of years, i have took to gwent like a duck to water, once i understood it more, via you're video on its mechanics. It has become my new favourate card game now. I look forward to seeing you're future video's on strategies with it. So again, really do apprieciate you taking the time to make the video's for it and thankyou. 🙂 Happy Gwenting to you too! 🙂
I’m so glad this helped a bit!! I should be coming out with another Gwent video next week, too, if you’d like more tips ^^ I absolutely LOVE Gwent… the saddest thing about W3 is when there’s no one left to play 😭
@@DeviantDreamers The Kambi Card, the cow one and the 0 Card w the eye, they are so powerful,, and if you have a revival card with you, AND you play the skellige fraction, you practically can’t loose
Gonna go through all these gwent videos to try and understand. Gwent is like a foreign language to me, I still don't understand how you won a round when only playing 2-3 cards when I've literally played all my cards in a single round and lost that round and having no cards for the next round losing that one automatically. Does siege cards eliminate all close combat cards or something? No matter who I've played I ALWAYS lose lol. Playing all my strongest cards with 8-10 point values does nothing. Only reason I'm trying gwent is to clear these secondary quests that have me playing gwent and participate in tournaments before I start new game plus. Anyways this video has been the best and easily explained, thank you for the time you put into these videos.
Thank you so much for watching this video- I’m so glad it’s helping to some degree!! 🥰 Not sure I’ll be able to answer all of your questions because it’s difficult to do so without seeing the specific hands of you/your opponent, but I’m going to do my best! 🫡 1) The only cards that “eliminate” others are cards with the “Scorch” ability, which will destroy the highest point value cards on the battlefield or in a particular row (depending on which card is used). Weather cards (Biting Frost, etc) can reduce the point values of all cards in a given row down to 1 point each, however, so those are cards to be on the lookout for because they can easily lower all of your points drastically! 2) I can’t presume to know what your opponents are playing, but I’d wager they might be using some “spy” cards? They have an eye 👁️ symbol on them… they’re REALLY strong because although they get added to *your* side of the battlefield, they allow your opponent to draw an additional card to play for the future! 3) Sometimes, Gwent isn’t necessarily about how many points you put down in a particular round, but the “card advantage” you get/maintain throughout. Like you said, you can’t even try to win the second round if you’re all out of cards! So, if you know that you’re going to lose, make sure to save as many cards as you can for round 2- just one strategy I like to use ^^ Hopefully these little tidbits of info help you, but definitely feel free to check out my other videos as well! I have a “Top 5 Tips” video that I think will be exceptionally helpful for you, as well as videos on each of the card factions (minus Skellige… not sure I’ll get there tbh 😅) Let me know if you have any more questions and I’ll do my very best to help! ^^
I’m so glad!! Gwent Online is definitely a LOT more complicated, in my opinion… 😂 I’m going to try to make some videos for it soon if I can. Thank you so much for watching! ^^
Glad to hear it helped a little bit! Can I clarify what in particular you're struggling with? I really want to do my best to help, so maybe I can make another video to address your questions if I can ^^ Is it the "special powers" of different unit cards that is confusing for you? Could you provide some examples if you have any?
I think it’s after explaining the white number circles and even yellow combats. That’s fine. But then just grasping the effects of the card. However, this is for me to get stuck in and play Gwent. I’ve avoided it this far. I’m about to start NG+ ok Death March, and want to clear the Gwent trophies also. Really appreciate your willingness to help
Got it! A lot of that is unfortunately going to be learned through practice/building up familiarity over time, but I’ll try to make another video categorizing some of the common card effects you might see in the game as well- I’ll do my best to have it ready to upload within the next week at some point and keep you posted ^^ I absolutely love Gwent and I really do want to try my best to help other people enjoy it (or, at the very least understand it) as well!
Oh no!! I completely missed this comment- so sorry! I’ve been working on one more video and should have it ready this coming week ^^ Hope the NG+ is going well so far!

I absolutely LOVE Gwent… the saddest thing about W3 is when there’s no one left to play 😭
I had a quest (after the dlc’s) where I had to play and build a skellige fraction and it’s surprisingly good
I absolutely LOVE playing with the Skellige faction! I think Cerys is particularly powerful and Kambi is also a personal favorite of mine! 😂
