What's even more crazy is jungle break beats began in very late 80s right into 90s. I would know because I'm legit 70s child AND Traks Club in Ybor City Tampa Florida had $2 import night on Thursday night. All the DJ spun was this!
@@kenrickbaughman992 Really? I have never heard about 80s early-form of jungle. As it's an offshoot of U.K rave Breakbeat it sounds surprising. Or you mean Break in general? Florida was ahead with Florida Break and an original take on Electro, Miami Bass etc. Maybe the Amen Break remixed was there before we ever talked about Jungle in U.K
RUclips algorithm kinda crazy, I'm not subscribed (yet) but this was uploaded only a few mins ago with 4 views currently but this is the exact kinda mix I needed
I've been listening to Deeper Drum n Bass releases that when J laze - She returns appears, was not just another song in the playlist, was a song i could recognize, and I like that feeling.Makes me feel like I can make a playlist myself! great selection tho. The clean vocals end in This Conspiracy Against Me was something to earstare at
Man, I feel like listening to this music takes me right back to when I was a kid watching Toonami back when it was airing back when yhey had the commerical breaks where they would have thus music playing at the beginning of the video. Like it feels like you are taken back in time to a time when you could just relax. Edit: maladapt - submerge is a banger
Oops.. I'll leave that autocorrect typo in as that is pretty funny.. And I may have accidentally invented a whole new style/genre.. Dumb end bass For when we no want intelligent no more
liquid/intelligent drum and bass are just different terms for jungle my man. The only trend relating to this that I would say is kind of annoying or misleading is when just regular drum and bass or even jungle is called "breakcore". Breakcore as I'm sure you know is waaaaayyyy different from dnb even if they share similar DNA so I don't think that they should be conflated
@@pudsla9427sad that people have come to know drum and bass as breakcore because it makes it hard to find ACTUAL breakcore mixes that aren’t jungle and DnB ya know?
Its legitimate. Im legit 70s child. This all took off in very late 80s right into 90s. It DIED very quick. Traks in Ybor City Tampa FLORIDA on Thursday night 🌙 would be $2 import AND all the DJ spun was this plus break beats.
this playlist looks like it's made for me because i don't even listen to breakcore on regular basis but idk listening when u drive home from work hits way different

Has the definition of breakcore changed recently? to me these tracks all sound like mid 90's intelligent jungle/dnb (as it was called then) - quite a bit different to what is/was normally considered breakcore
seems like it. to me it feels like the label is covering a soundscape more in line with visual aesthetic's wider interpretation of '-core' rather than how the dance scene has used '-core' as short for hardcore as in hard/rough/fast. See things on the aesthetic wiki like dreamcore, glitchcore, dazecore, gamercore, etc... those are emotionally surreal, and digital artificated/manipulated (y2k vibe). There's a tiny subreddit called glitchbreak which seems to cover these new 'breakcore' tracks, but the market seems to have converged on just calling it breakcore instead. I guess breakcore is just a catchier label. If it wasn't for the previously established usage, it does make sense with just the above context, especially if the old style is already sampling y2k video games. lol.
The definition of Breakcore hasn't changed, so much as Breakcore has just become the name used to describe all of Jungle, DnB & Breakcore to a wave of mostly younger people who've been discovering the genres for the very first time over the past few years. It seems like most of them are coming over from more alternative or online genres of music, like Shoegaze, Metal, Emo Rap, Hyperpop, Phonk, Synthwave, Lo-Fi Hip-Hop, and other stuff along those line. In other words, a lot of them don't have much prior knowledge about or exposure to stuff like Breakcore or Jungle, or even electronic/rave music in general. So what seems to have happened is that people from those aforementioned genres/sub-cultures started discovering Jungle/DnB/Breakcore, and in large enough numbers that instead of getting absorbed into the preexisting communities and gaining their knowledge, they unintentionally formed a bubble in which they were relying on each other to create their understanding of what they're making/listening to. Early on in this process, some of them got the idea that what they were listening to was called Breakcore, and it quickly caught on with everyone else in the bubble, probably due to how the meaning or "-core" has changed in recent years as the other comment mentioned. The end result of all of this is that now there's two semi-disconnected communities for the same styles of music, separated by the fact that one is able to distinguish between the genres, and the other calls everything Breakcore. It seems like the later is slowly being absorbed into the former though, so as things currently stand, I think the definition of Breakcore will mostly be back to what it was in a few years.
That DevSeb track @34:00 just sounds like trash audio to me at least.with all that unnecessary reverb. I know it's supposed to sound spooky or whatever but that range of high freqs makes my head hurt after a while.
