As an American sailor, I really like to see countries working together as one. The QE is one beautiful ship. Looks even more so with the F-35's silhouetted against the evening sky. Fair winds and following seas my brothers!

Living on the Great Lakes, I get to see a lot of the big freighters. Watching one of those merchant Leviathans slowly creep down the St. Clair river is a majestic sight to see. I can only dream of how awe inspiring it is to see warships go by, and if memory serves, Portsmouth is a very large port for both Military and commerce. Fortunate is the native of Portsmouth. Best regards from Michigan.

Excellent footage & a great zoom too, shame it was almost dark by the time she left port as, it would have been an impressive sight with all the aircraft on deck, but they always sail on the high tide whenever possible, which was around that time.
Yes I agree shame it was dark when she left the port, hopefully I will manage to catch her in better light next time, still one consolation I very nearly did not bother to video at all knowing it was not going to be good lighting at the time she left the port, and videoing from the ferry in the early part was not ideal, it was a last minute decision before the light went down, pleased you appreciated the video under the circumstances than you.
@@SparkoRC I would have gone down there myself, if it had been earlier, I only live about 4 miles away, so Ive seen both carriers sail a few times, there's two or three videos on my channel, of both of them.

Gwendy, apologies for those here who hit their keyboard in ignorance before replacing their lack of knowledge with research. Google is your best friend, Sniff. Show some respect.
That paint job is bloody awful . She is need of a refit. I have heard that the USN is having trouble with maintenance of its ships . If so why not get an ally to do the preservation stuff , must be worth it. A few years ago i saw the USS Mobile Bay i think it was at Portsmouth with a Carrier and both look like painted rust . Not a good sign in the face of an adversary .
From personal experience in the USN, the more rust you see the more time the ship spent at sea & the more trained the crew is for action. Ships that don't go out much always look great.
Some truly dumb comments here. One is a guided missile destroyer the other is a carrier, do you not understand the difference in size? FYI the US has 20 supercarriers, 10 of which are 100,000 tonnes. UK has only two, the QE2 is only 65,000 tonnes and that destroyer is there to protect it. Research before you hit the keyboard and display your ignorance to the world :)

More likely that the QE include a US deployment and the destroyer is riding shotgun for that purpose, also the 2 navies often co deploy and train together. British AC needs a US destroyer to run shot gun. Why is this ? Are the capabilities of the daring class insufficient ?

It doesnt need one at all, but as the USMC are onboard it makes perfect sense to have the US destroyer along for training and cooperation.
Bear in mind that the UK carrier is operating US aircraft flown by US pilots, the RN has no fixed wing aircraft at all.
@Drew Peacock they aren't there to take out anti-ship missiles. They're there to take out the ships that are launching them.
