    -----------
In this interview with sprout expert Doug Evans, we discuss why he started eating sprouts, and just how powerful they really are. Not only are these little nutrient-bombs a great way to 10X your health, they can also help us to end food inequality for good.
His own journey into the magic of sprouts started when he moved into the desert east of Joshua Tree. After living in New York City for many years and eating a raw vegan diet, he wanted to connect with the universe in a place that was more conducive to his kind of lifestyle.
Doug Evans began growing sprouts out of a kind of necessity. Not only was he living in the Mojave desert, he was also living in a food desert, well over an hour from the nearest health food store. So, rather than make the 3-4 hour trip every time he needed groceries, he decided to start growing and eating sprouts. Pretty soon, sprouts made up 50% of his caloric intake.
Around this time, Doug began to research the health benefits of sprouts. And what he found made him increasingly excited. Not only does sprouting double the amount of the food itself, but it also doubles the antioxidants, and triples the amount of vitamin C.
One of the best things about sprouts is that they are easy to grow in your own home. The thing about seeds is that they contain everything they need for the first week of life. That means that with a little water, they will grow.
As Doug Evans makes clear, sprouts are not only incredibly healthy, they are also highly cheap and accessible. By eating sprouts, you have the opportunity to truly 10X your health. So, what are you waiting for?

This was such a great interview. I've dabbled in sprouting in the past, and I think I even sat in a breakout with the sprout man at a Portland vegefest, but when I decided to really get serious with my unused sprouting paraphernalia recently, I discovered Doug Evens on RUclips. I'm reading Ann Wigmore's book but im going to order Dougs ASAP. All to say, I'm just so grateful for this passionate sprouter expert. My first silo of sprouts will be ready in a few days and I cant wait!! I have no problem eating raw, mostly vegan, etc., so this will be the "frosting" I've been missing!! Also, being in my 6th decade, I have a selfish motive to anti age and stay healthy naturally. THANK YOU BOTH, SO MUCH‼️

This is brand new topic for me. I thought I was up on food trends yet without any reason here I am finding out about sprout benefits ( this is getting me excited) and am looking for stacked sprouter trays in Oz. I have started sprouting fenugreek, brown lentils on plates on my window sill. Love to learn.

I found mine at the Amish store!! Using it for the first time. I was intimidated, thinking it would be complicated so I didn't start, but last week I pulled it out, and IT IS SOOOO EASY. My first batch will be ready in a few days. I'm so excited!!

Terrific interview, just recently purchased the sprout book, even though I am an old head, just turned 60 years young, just like to give a heads up to a female scottish health practitioner, her name is gillian mackeith, she wrote a book called (living food for health) health) published in the year 2000, she was called a quack in the UK, read her book, its brilliant, side by side with Dougs book.

I have some downspout tubes I may use 10 of my sprouts to get that started
But hearing this I think I should turn the multiple jars I have into sprouting jars instead.

Let out food be our medicine. The most space efficient and dense way to store nutrients. Quality “water” and containers added to the variety of seeds beans, legumes😢, and nuts
    Makes for great prep.

Can’t say that’s a particularly inspiring lifestyle: Water for breakfast, then later maybe a piece of fruit. And run miles in the desert heat?
Is the poor guy doing time in prison, or what? Think I’ll stick with my espresso and croissant, and morning newspaper.
