In this case, I agree. It brought tears to my eyes to hear him sing again. He was involved in making the song and he decided whether it was good for release. If Randy wasn't alive and participating in making the song, I would have a different opinion.

I agree! His voice is unmatched and has to be recorded, AI or no AI. This song brings tears to any one’s voice!
You will care if someone makes a recording of your voice saying something you didn't say and you wind up in jail for it. And that's exactly what can happen. I think it's great for Randy and I love him too, but you have to look at the big picture.

I've been seeing dozens of AI-generated songs showing up in my RUclips feed, and I have zero interest in listening to them -- the whole idea seems creepy -- but I am 100% on board with Randy's situation. Randy is the one creating and releasing it, so nobody's abusing his voice/likeness/legacy. And like Wood said, somehow it has "heart."

Potentially, it could open up a can of worms. For example, who owns the rights to a deceased singers voice? Will voices be copy righted? However, It's wonderful hearing Randy Travis again.

I think in its really cutting the thin line, yes I agree it was nice hearing a song from him. However I don't agree with using AI for making country music or any music it's riding off the honest working people out of a job.

A technology by itself isn't evil or good. How a technology is used determines whether or not it is good or bad. AI is here, and it's not going away. We must create laws, regulations, and rules for its use in the same way we do for other technologies that have the potential to have undesirable impacts when misused. I'm overjoyed that Randy has found a way to now experience happiness again through his new AI assisted music. 😻He is involved in its production, and he decides whether or not it is acceptable for release. Only an artist and his or her family when the artist is no longer alive should have the authority to use AI to replicate an artist's voice. An artist should also have the ability through his last Will & Testament to not allow his or her voice to be used by AI for developing songs after he or she is no longer alive.

I think AI is great for Randy, he seems very pleased with the result, and it makes him happy but I wouldn't want them to bring back Dead Artist with it.
I agree with AI for new music with two conditions.
1) Artist is alive, involved in or approved the creation, and they financially benefit the same as if the new song/album was traditionally created.
2) The song/album is labeled as AI everywhere it appears in print, announced on radio, video title, etc. The public must be made aware. No tricking people, it’s their choice to listen or buy and it must be an informed choice.
That might technically be more than two requirements but I think each stipulation is reasonable, fair and doable. I don’t want to see a lot of AI whizzes making money off of artists who have no say in AI creations based off of their voice and prior work.
Personally, I think I will always prefer traditional music. I say “think” though because AI is so new, I am afraid of the destructive potential of it, and I may find it hard to resist a song I really like. Music is highly emotional and that can make reason fly right out of the window.

I just hope "Where That Came From" goes to #1 on the Billboard country songs and Airplay singles charts as well as the Mediabase country singles chart and I think it will go the distance, even if it is an AI recording. Randy deserves a break, due to his condition. I would love to see a veteran country music legend like Randy Travis score another #1 country hit. If Randy Travis was still able to sing, that's how he would sing it. I'm still hoping Randy can get his singing voice back after that awful stroke.

If someone does a new song but doesn't state the singer's name. Does an AI of Elvis singing a song and people like it, who makes the money? The artist or the owner of the music?
The key word here is " Artificial" . The "heart" came from James DuPre'. All they need is the tone of Randy's voice. Randy's voice was from older recordings which had been rerecorded into technological equipment and then sampled over James DuPre's vocal track of the song. He is the singer which was to sing Randy's songs on the Randy Travis tour which got canceled, ruclips.net/video/EvbeNGWa-FI/видео.html .
I am not trying to rain on anybodies parade or be a negative Nelly (sorry Nelly), but .......... the only thing about this that is real is that James DuPre sang a song in which Randy's vocal tone was sampled over to get Randy's vocal sound.
I know this comment is long but I've watched everything I can find about this and am amazed at all the "yea Randy" comments, and minimal mention of James DuPre'. Real is real and artificial is artificial. I'm sure there are better sources for this information and sentiment. However, I do have a small recording studio and quite a bit of high tech equipment, and I have had a stroke. I'm not knocking Randy, I'm a big fan !! The technology put the light back into Randy's eye's and the look on his face lit up the whole room. As long as he is still able to write new songs he has a right thru technology to sing what he wrote. And yes there should be a line drawn if the artist is no longer with us in life or don't have any way of doing there own decision making capabilities for decision making on there own behalf. Then no.
Country music is going backwards. AI is bad and should be against the law. Also his producer said I know Randy Travis voice better then he knows it. That telling me Randy Travis is not all there. He agrees with everything his family tells him. Randy Travis does not make his own decisions. That's the same thing with president Joe Biden.
But I do love the song. The song is better than what radio is putting out today. Good to hear Randy Travis voice again even if it's fake. It's awesome what we can do with computers today. But AI it's not good for the future and the direction of country music. That's my feelings about it.

I draw the line with duplicating voices for artists using AI "just because." If you like country then you like Randy Travis, heck Randy's first album is what got me into country back then. He's alive and gave concent to using AI on this new release and so that's great but we shouldn't get all cought up in the moment and cloud our judgement on how far AI should go. If a artist is gone and not with us then leave AI alone, there's other talent who's trying to make it and the last thing they need is AI competing with them and removing them from opportunity because people would rather use AI. If we don't draw the line on it, AI can and more likely will get out of hand and the entire country music industry will pay dearly for it. There needs to be very strict regulations using AI in this manner, otherwise AI will replace singers and they'll all be without a job. Using AI this way is like using robots to replace human jobs.

Anything can be used in a negative way, but if someone is able to run a marathon with artificial legs thanks to technology...we should also celebrate the fact that technology has helped this artist reclaim something he must have thought lost forever....his singing voice. I would also argue that anytime we speak into a mic...there is technology at hand that makes the sound we are making come out of a speaker or go into some piece of voice processor to help clean things up or make improvements. Unless an artist is singing "unplugged"....they are getting help from technology to improve their voice or to help it carry. This isn't fake or somebody pretending to be Randy Travis. This is Randy Travis and his voice....he just needed the right technology and human aides to help him overcome his handicap. Technology is a great thing when used to improve our lives in positive ways like this, but as always...some idiots will abuse technology and do stupid things with it that show that it only works when in the right hands for good.

That Randy endorsed this & worked alongside others to make it happen, well then, I’m okay with it. I don’t think Randy would, in essence, “relaunch” his career and release an album of AI songs using his voice. At the end of the day, it isn’t HIM singing he knows it and we all know it. It’s a song using his voice, that’s it. I don’t believe he or any other true artists would get any real satisfaction from doing this. And if it became more than this one song or started getting widespread, I don’t believe fans would get behind it. Certainly not on board with releasing new songs from those who have passed away. The real danger is making a sensation out of someone who really isn’t very good, but that’s another discussion
