Yeah, Earnest didn't take the potion, but it ironically made him actually finally live his life to the fullest before he died. Actually fell in love with a woman that wouldn't use him and actually care about him, had a big family etc. And his memory will live on while the two ladies suffer forever decomposing, but never dying.

I always nominate Sydney Pollack's 'death diagnosis' as the funniest cameo. And that's Sally Kellerman showing up to the empty waiting room, informing Bruce Willis that the 'dead' Meryl Street was taken the morgue. "She's be FURIOUS-!!"

I didn't see this film for many years after release, and forget Bruce Willis' funeral. I only remembered him dangling and falling, so upon rewatching, I really loved that part. But the original release was a great, large theatre crowd and everyone was thrilled. It launch a few days of conversations - "Take it or not?" The serious injuries were well displayed, but how many times does a person skin an elbow? Bump a toe? The little things would pile up.

That's not Sally Kellerman, she was never in this movie. The actress name is Petra Burchard.

"Til death do us part! Well, you girls are dead. And I'm parting."
Fun Fact: The film's budget was $55 million.
Body Double Fact: Catherine Bell was Isabella Rossellini's nude body double.
Casting Notes Fact: Sydney Pollack portrays the E.R. Doctor in an uncredited role. This is the first time that he and Meryl Streep had worked together since Out Of Africa (1985).
Automatic Pushup Fact: A pneumatic bra was built to create the effect where Meryl Streep's breasts become higher and firmer after drinking the potion, but the effect didn't look realistic enough. In order to get the shot, Streep's dresser stood behind her, out of sight of the camera, and pushed her breasts into position.
CGI Over Practical Fact: Meryl Streep wasn't thrilled that the film relied heavily on visual effects. Streep claimed that shooting the film was like "going to the dentist" and states that the film is her first, last, and only VFX-driven film. Yet it wasn't. In the scene where Helen (Goldie Hawn) sits down onto a shovel handle, she didn't sit in the way she was expected to. So the VFX people at Industrial Light & Magic had to morph the image to make it look like the shovel handle was going through her chest.
Original Ending Fact: There was a different filmed end than appears in the theatrical version. It involves Tracey Ullman's character, Toni, helping Ernest (Bruce Willis) in a ruse of faking his own death in order to get away from Madeline (Meryl Streep), Helen (Goldie Hawn), and Lisle (Isabella Rossellini). The plan worked and the two ended up running away to Europe to start a new life together. Many years later, Madeline and Helen, both parodies of their former selves, with cracked, peeling paint and putty covering most of their grey and rotting flesh, are on vacation in Switzerland, yet they are completely bored and miserable. They notice an elderly couple being affectionate and they become envious of them. As the couple gets into a car and drives away, Madeline and Helen realize it's Ernest and Toni and chase after them, only to be hit by an oncoming car and break into pieces.

I'm writing that Universal Pictures should give Death Becomes Her a special Blu-ray release that would include all 25 deleted scenes that were cut from the film and including the film's original Switzerland alternate ending as special features.

They were looking bad because they died and the potion reanimated them, but they no longer had life functions. They were in essence zombies. All the others looked alright because they were still alive.

I wouldn't take the potion, I'd rather die. Life has an ending for a reason. You DON'T want to be immortal. Immortality is a curse.

I had one of the worst theatrical experiences with this. The film burned up twice. Only one other person was in the theater and she made noise and smoked a cigarette, sitting about a row behind me. After the film first burned, she left, came back and the movie was playing, and she was asking me from her seat what happened. I don't know why I didn't think to leave and try to watch it later.

in retrospect, the message is a bit heavy handed, but the story was good and I have memories of being impressed at the time that Willis would take a role like that since he'd always been an action hero. It's also fun to see two self obsessed, vindictive sociopaths destroy each other. They did find common ground in the end ; ).

I wouldn't take the potion either. Mainly because it WOULD GET boring, and id have to be more attentive about preserving my self. Rather than just taking care of myself.
Think about it this way. Youre living now. Doing whatever you're doing in life... imagine doing that forever. Paying bills, having to go to a job, feeling miserable when your sick, having to watch the changing of the times. Heck you may even witness the end of the world!!
However, i guess if i didnt immediately suffer a fall to my "death" or have someone shoot me with a shotgun, you can go on living without having to preserve yourself.
Those ladies only had to paint themselves because they died but they didnt die. Their bodies died. So, of course their skin is gonna go pale, and the bodies are gonna stiffen, and they'll look like the walking dead eventually. But if you dont get "dead" you look like that pool lady.

Now, it’s not like you or anyone else here asked, lol, buuut… my favorite franchise happens to be the Scream films. I absolutely LOVE all 6. And my all-time-favorite movie? Yep! You guessed it, Death Becomes Her!

Cute and funny don't drive "likes and views". Right now the trend anong viewers is "based on true events", "Oscar winners", and "courtroom dramas". As I've mentioned previously, we are here watching with you because weve come to know and appreciate you, in a sense. We enjoy your personalities and reactions. However, viewers scanning the many, many different "reactors", deciding on a film to check out, will be less likely stop and spend their time on a movie that doesnt "spark something". When a reactor with 12k subscribers receives 100k views (RRR), that is evidence that viewers will stop and watch a film that is fresh or powerful or special in some way. Those new viewers then meet and enjoy you two and a small % will become subscribers. Building a base begins, every time, with bringing potential customers through the doors. They'll stay, like we (current subscriber base) did, to watch more QUALITY films and enjoy your reactions to them. **Might consider updating your "list". ps..I think most of us are with you Toni, and are eager for October to be done.
