It really is a masterpiece. Like you, almost the first thing I thought of was Canio in Pagliacci. There's also more than a hint of Heath Ledger's Joker there as well. Till is wearing a dress and the cuts are real and were self-inflicted by Till. His voice is incredible all the way through this version of Mein Herz Brennt, such range and his acting skills are wonderful. You're drawn in even though you want to look away at times. The video was shot in the main bathroom at Beelitz-Heilstätten, which was at some point a psychiatric hospital and a place where a former Austrian born German Chancellor was treated for physical injuries. Did you notice it? At the very end as the lights are fading the white smoke? I believe the white smoke/mist you see in the very end as the lights slowly go off was his spirit/Soul.
I think that he was finally able to ascend...after making sure all the children were safe and at the same time atoning for his past sins he was finally set free.
The original was released in 2001 then the piano version in 2012 so it follows the story from Till in the orphanage to protecting the kids and the emotions he shows is mainly anger followed by sadness then in the piano version his emotions are kinda bitter sweet? He realizes he had to do things he didn't want to do to save the children. So now that he's done, he is finally set free. thats of course my own interpretation of the video/song❤️🔥🤗
