Vivek gets it. I grew up in the ghetto, and some women would openly say they wouldn't get married because the check would be smaller. Some also celebrated when their young teenage daughters got pregnant out of wedlock because the check would be bigger. I've seen it first hand.

@@Armed-ForeverShort answer? We’re set in our ways and change comes slowly. We arrived at our system through 1000+ years of slow evolution whereas the USA created its system from a blank sheet of paper, basing the system on the lessons that were learned here. I could ask why your political environment is so dependent upon the interests of influential donors and the answer would more or less the same - We can’t change things that radically because that’s the way it’s always been done and we can’t be sure it’s be an improvement for certain. That said, the leaders of our two main parties are selected from short lists and members of each party do have influence over the ultimate choice. And on the bright side, political candidates have a hard limit on the amount of money they’re permitted to spend on their campaigns which is very rigorously enforced.
All of the above points to an interesting issue, which is that the UK political system, and government in general does react very slowly compared to the USA. It’s inefficient bureaucratic and wasteful. But you can’t change horses in mid-stream. Not without a revolution, anyway.

He deserves it. I used to think Desantis was a solid pick, but he's getting bogged down on the wrong things. I think Vivek might actually be able to even win a little support from the other side. We need a leader who isn't either shooting his mouth off or fumbling his words.

There's enough work to be done to clean up that mess hall we called Washington DC for both of these guys could work 24 hours a day for four years and still not get it all cleaned up.
They should both figure out how to work together and do it absolutely uninhibited.

If they want to fix the broken system for real, that takes a LONG time and the goal needs to be laser focused and unwavering. As an American I have been watching Nigel Farage for a long time since his time in EU parliament and also know of his recent challenge with Woke Bank issue. When I was a kid we were told that overpopulation would lead to mass starvation by the early 2000's. The reality is that countries that limited population growth, like China, are approaching demographic collapse. I think that is where we are with climate change. Countries that are moving aggressively on reducing fossil fuels are already seeing economic collapse. Biden discouraged investment in fossil fuel development by announcing that we would be getting rid of oil, leading to higher prices for consumers and economic stagnation.
