Enjoyed this, particularly the first half. But I’m still having trouble understanding the function of this Zapright service. Why cant a merchant just put their wallet or pubkey in on website and pay them. What is Zapright facilitating? I must be missing something

His "Bitcoin is not a hedge" is really off putting and silly.
Off putting because he implies that if you don't agree with him, you don't 'understand' bitcoin. Classic no true Scotsman fallacy. Rigid thinking that leaves little room for the fact that bitcoin is useful to people for different reasons, and that people see the future differently.
It's silly because, as Parker points out at 1:02:45, Bitcoin's path to becoming a medium of exchange is likely to pass through a highly inflationary period. Now, what's the term for an asset you own to mitigate against a financial risk, such as inflation? Oh geez, I'm forgetting... oh yeah, now I remember ... a HEDGE! So, according to Parker, bitcoin can't be the thing that is on the natural path to becoming the thing he wants it to be.
When Balaji made his bitcoin bet following the SVB blowup, Saifadean quipped that people who finally understand the insanity of the banking system tend at first to greatly over estimate its fragility. Parkers attitude drips of that tendency. The dollar is likely to be around for a long time, perhaps our entire lifetimes. The US gov will not give up reserve currency power easily, or without a fight. Shoot, digital dollars issued as Taproot Assets on Lightning, powered by bitcoin, replacing local currencies as they fail around the world is a possible outcome as well. And in that potentially very long timeline to the eventual demise of the dollar, if you want to own bitcoin as a way to store your economic energy in a leak proof battery (i.e., as a hedge against inflation), there is nothing wrong with that.

Parker is such a serious fella but the content he produces is some of the best. Personality matters.

Possibly the worst podcast of 2023. Um, y'know, like um, I mean, um, but, like um, Parker is completely inarticulate. Nothing but a long advertisement.🥱
