Two astronauts remain in limbo after 50 days in space

- After weeks of troubleshooting and recent tests meant to replicate the issues plaguing Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, NASA and Boeing officials still aren’t ready to name a return date for the two astronauts piloting the vehicle on its inaugural crewed test flight. CNN’s Kristin Fisher reports. #CNN #News
Boeing has turned into a national embarrassment…
It's space, so does it count as a galactic failure
That’s what happens when the Government cuts regulations
The "Trump" of aerospace companies ...
I just got off of a Boeing 777 from Honolulu, gee it must be a miracle I'm still alive! G.T.F.O!🤡
nasa can't inhabit space without Russia or China, I'm sure they did what the Nixon administration said they did.
8 months later. First baby conceived in space

I thought as much. Feeling sorry for sunitas husband 😂
"If it's Boeing, I'm not going anywhere... I'm stuck in space."

The Ford of space.
“If it’s Boeing, I’m not going“. Our new slogan

They're lucky they survived the journey.
Imagine being stuck in space and NASA wants you to ride a Boeing back to earth, sounds like a horror movie
Your hired
They are on the space station with six other astronauts and plenty of food
Boeing: “Oh, sorry, we forgot about the return-part of the mission. I hope the two guys up there have travel insurance.”
They're actually waiting for one of their engineers to find the problem...
Returns require an extra fee.
@@geodive5542 some engineers at Boeing likely brought up the problem before it was launched but they were immediately fired and all documentation about the problem was destroyed. Every other engineer aware of the problem kept their mouth shut.
Can’t they just spawn back or no?
Not the first time they forgot about the return part. -Laika
The main problem with the Starliner is the same as every other Boeing product; some manager in the boardroom said "If we replace these components with these cheaper components, then we save a lot of money and we will get bigger bonuses this year."
It's Boeing. It's a HUGE difference between a week and 50 days.
and its not a problem up there
17/18 of the thrusters work, no other problems
this is still ridiculous
They sed weeks ago they could not live on space station this long now they blame a broken handle on the fact the out house was packed to the brim. Pee? And poop? From American side I bet in Russia today they make big jokes and drink vodka and fight a bear or two then beat up a Ukrainian. Haha.
your comment is extremely racist towards calendars.
You don't know the new Boeing calendar?
Manager of NASA's commercial crew program: 'Boeing's engineering team is currently working on cracking the complex mystery between a week and 50 days.'
Apparently, the same folks who can't quite manage a 737 Max software update or a Starliner docking are now tackling... the calendar. We'll need more time-maybe they’ll figure it out before the next leap year!
Stuckliner undocking? Probably in 2077🤷♂
We're not stuck. We just can't come back.

The same compagny which airplane doors and engines detaches mid-air ... and their whistleblowers mysteriously die in car accidents ...
That's not a sentence.
At least get the facts right lol. An engine falling off the plane has not happened in a long while, and that's usually due to maintenance issues from the airline.
@@blkMafiaManThis had nothing to do with Alaska Airlines maintenance department it was all down to Boeing and it’s outsourcing of quality control to Spirit AeroSystems to increase profits. Alaska Airlines flight 1282s plug door failing was due to not having the bolts installed at the Boeing factory. Boeings Stan Deal and Dave Calhoun both apologised for the failing of quality control and took full responsibility to bolster inspections and increase QC checks. Boeing were reassessing the deal with Spirit AeroSystems bringing inspection and maintenance back in-house. So yes the OP is correct, as for engines disconnecting in flight the year is only half way through so plenty of time left for Boeing to surprise us. As for StayLiner no matter how you sugar coat it it’s a piece of shite! And to think Boeing kicked up a fuss when SpaceX were chosen by NASA as the other Commercial crew provider. Boeing complained that they had years of knowledge and design heritage and SpaceX was the inexperienced new boy with no heritage?🤨Wow! So again, they can’t come back when they were originally scheduled, or anytime in the foreseeable future, but they’re “not stuck”, they’re definitely not stuck. At least that’s what NASA has been insisting for the past month or so. Is this not gaslighting?
Yes.
They are not stuck because there is always the possibility to get them back with a dragon capsule or a Soyuz if it is necessary, they are giving Boeing time to save face I guess...
the best thing they can say (and should say) is 'no, we cannot say for sure they'll be returning on the starliner. our priority is astronauts' safety, not Boeing's reputation'
Yes, this is exactly what I have been waiting to hear. Developing better 'rationals' is a fallacy many if not most companies today fall into that often leads to direct harm or death. I know this to be true first hand in the medical device industry, and the regulating agency (FDA instead of NASA) has the same problem of prioritizing the protection of the shareholder and company reputation over the safety of the individuals most likely to be affected. Gaslighting is the rule not the exeption in the world today - it is time the citizens wake up and demand more from their governments. *edited for missing space
Agreed I mean no guarantee Space X wouldn’t have launch issues as well so don’t want to end up cutting it fine on time asking for help at the last minute
F9 is always ready. Maybe they should be asking for an emergency rate.
Send up a Dragon. Using a Soyuz would be an even greater embarrassment.

Boeing spent $5.6 billion on developing a one way spaceship. SpaceX spent half that and have numerous successful launches and returns of crew. Apart from NASA and the astronauts’ families, can’t imagine the stockholders of Boeing are too impressed.

Nailed it.
But the Falcon9 rockets are now under FAA investigation, so... a Soyuz might be the only option, strangely enough.
@@SystemBD The Falcon 9 is the most successful rocket in the history of rockets. The FAA is doing a standard review because of an issue that occurred with it on its last flight. It has launched 364 times with only 2 in-flight failures (over 99% success rate). It will be flying again real soon.
Or heaven forbid, the Russians.
Elon was told not to post anything on X regarding this Boeing fuck up. Boeing is hanging on a thread from collapsing. All the short cuts and false safety certification processes are coming to light. I agree. A week but suddenly 50 days in "orbit." How stupid does CNN think we are?
According to a search, they normally have six months worth of supplies, and get resupplied roughly every two months. Needless to say, two extra astronauts for a few weeks is not a problem whatsoever. If the stores were kept that low they'd starve while waiting for a second launch to be attempted if a single resupply launch should fail.
