Enjoyed your video. You make it look very easy. I just got the 11xp premium (red rope edition) but chickened out on the install lol. Looking forward to my first outing. The 11xp gets very good reviews.
Great video mate, I pick up my 11xp premium tomorrow for my Pajero, only thing I'm pretty safety consensus and gritted my teeth when you jumped over the cable wile it had tension on it 😂
Mate the Runva will not let you down, same winch I’ve had for over 2 years now. Only advice is grease it up before you leave it’s a little dry from factory. Meant to say my bar moves heaps like that too no big deal, I think it’s actually the body moving back on the mounts more than the winch pulling the bar off
Yeah the gap between the bar and body only seemed to open up under serious load. When I backed off the winch the bars still lined up evenly - so not too worried about it!
Thank you. Purchased a second hand 4*4 and never used a winch upon purchase NEVER tested the Runva x11 went to rest it 8mths later and no power 5hrs of phone calls and questions thinking it was even the control box.. long story short turn on your vid and about 1.50sec into it in unboxing you pulled out the isolation switch, fk me knew straight away what I overlooked lol
Good job Cam. You won't be disappointed with the Runva. I've had one on the front of my rig for almost 5yrs now & put it through absolute hell. The only issue I've ever had is the isolator switch failing twice due to it being a pos but a quick bypass soon had it going again. Check out Paul's Julimar video next week & you will see the kind of punishment I put mine through.
Should throw old mate epic's channel in the description to make it easier for people to navigate too, thanks for the review mate considering this buy on the $829 promo running atm.
The winch is obviously very good and sturdy but holy crap, at the 8:05 point when you started bouncing a little, I was waiting for they canopy to snap off the back - holy crap I’d be checking that out big time. Great clip though champ 👍👍
I got the same bar and winch on my triton. Happy as pig in shit. Only thing I had trouble with and recommend upgrading to something decent is the battery isolator. Good video mate.
man this makes me wanna test out my dmax, only ever done beach work in it keen to do some flex tests, did you use your locker this trip if so does it make a difference cheers
Curiously, you wouldn' still happen to have the gearbox from the domin8tor? mine was made without a drivegear in the gearbox. Been sitting on the shelf for 2 years and only finally got around to putting it in. Now i just want to fix it and get rid of it.
Too right about the kings winch… had it six months and it shit itself.. waisted my money… pick up my 11xp this Friday… had the 9000 evo runva before I got the kings and regret giving it away
It is. It's MCC. Absolute rubbish though! Paints oxidised, peeling and bars rusting all over the place. Fog lights are falling apart and recently on corrugations the spotties tore a hole out of the top of it 😂
What bull bar are you running is it steel or allow. I'm in need of a bull bar for my dmax and the tym one I'm looking at is a haft fount bar set up. Where yours looks like a full replacement
Because it wouldn't reduce stress on the vehicle. Its still pulling the same weight from the same point. It just reduces the load on the winch motor, which wasn't an issue.
Wild Touring if your running it back to the recovery point on your 4X4 you are dividing the stress between the to points. It’s pulling on the recovery point and at the winch
Probably, anything to reduce load would help. But when this winch failed on other occasions it was not load related - it was electrical issues from water ingress. It's just not good enough to have to split a brand new winch to regrease it because they basically are sold dry. Then reseal it with gasket goo because the machining at the flange and factory gasket are terrible and let heaps of water in. Then have to retorque and lock-tight every bolt because otherwise they rattle loose. If it's something you'll rely on when you're remote, seriously consider saving some coin for something more reliable like the Runva!
There's not always a winch point exactly where you need it. But I'll plant a tree in the middle of the track and try it again in 30 years 😂 But seriously, I did try to winch out to the side of the ruts, but they were too deep for my little 32" ATs and the car just slid along the bank. The car was recovered without anything breaking, so it was a good recovery in my books.
Cheers for the comment Steve, but I've got to disagree . Yes bouncing off the winch line isn't good for it. But you're working a winch a lot harder if you don't assist it with some steady light throttle. First gear low range and as little wheel spin as possible has always worked well for me.
That depends on the terrain & if you know what you're doing or not. Usually driving while winching is fine as long as you don't over run the winch causing slack. It's morons that don't know what they are doing & over run the winch line that are the problem, not the technique itself.
Double line pull would be a better option than drive assist in my opinion. Double line pull never used enough as everybody wants instant and fast results.
@@stevegoodwin5841 Like I said, it depends on the situation. I was always taught not to drive while winching but in real world situations, if done correctly & only in the right situations, it is absolutely fine to drive assist. Horses for courses mate.

Had to use it in anger yet?

Totally agree, that was a dangerous rooky move.
Bloody hell your canopy looked like it was going to snap the chassis off with the wobble it had! Have you checked for stress cracks?
100 percent, I saw that at the start too, proper concerning
Chassis flex to failure territory

Yeah! Go the Runva! Great winch. Not as good a Warn but heaps better than Kings.
Cheers Phil. Yeah Ive got no doubt the warns are bloody good! But I'm very happy with the Runva!
Wild Touring yeah had my Runva 11XP for 5 years, bloody good winch 👍
my dominator works fine
That's why I fitted an iron man bullbar and the winch is bolted to the chassis on a cradle.
The winch is a monster 12000 pounds

Awesome Cam. Made the install look like a piece of cake. 👌
Cheers Dan. It is a piece of cake!
Nice video mate, very timely! Also looking at either this or a Carbon but definitely leaning towards this
Can't go wrong mate!
How has it lasted
Shit yeh cam did the movement in the bullbar come from when you fitted the new winch or did it actually pull it from the force?
Dunno to be honest mate! There was only movement under heavy load, as soon as it was backed off everything's lined up nicely again.
I got the same bar and winch on my triton. Happy as pig in shit. Only thing I had trouble with and recommend upgrading to something decent is the battery isolator.
Good video mate.
Hey cam.. has the bull bar pulling away problem been fixed? Or will the bull bar pull away every time it's under heavy load.. which doesn't right?
NEVER walk over a winch cable under stress... geezuz 5:02
Hey Cam, time for a follow up vid on the Runva. Or just let me know what’s your thoughts now 1 year on.
It’s been going great, no dramas whatsoever.
Theres a vid coming next weekend where I’m using it to pull myself out of a bog.
@Wild Touring that’s good to hear it’s still going well. I’ll keep my eye out for the vid next week. Good vid too. Thanks
What's the width of this? I'm shopping for a winch for a Jeep xj arb bumper
How did your bull bar move when the winch is not mounted to it ?
Noice winch and vid but what's going on with the road tyres?
Theyre toyo open Country all terrains.
@@WildTouring crikey they don't look very chunky and no side biter lugs.
Any good?
Must be pretty quiet on road
man this makes me wanna test out my dmax, only ever done beach work in it keen to do some flex tests, did you use your locker this trip if so does it make a difference cheers
Haha they don't flex much!!! Yeah rear locker was used, makes a big difference.
Need to put some Ko3 muddies on your dmax make it look super though
They're on the list of maybes! Definitely need something different, not happy with the toyos.

No sorry mate the entire thing went on the verge collection!
@@WildTouring 🤣ok, thank u
Good stuff mate and yeah when it comes to something that you need reliability with, don’t go to Kings lol. Hope your bullbar is ok 👍
Cheers Paul. It's lined up perfectly as soon as the load was off it. Must be some flex somewhere!
Oh ok, interesting. At least you can say the D’Max does flex 🤣🤣
Too right about the kings winch… had it six months and it shit itself.. waisted my money… pick up my 11xp this Friday… had the 9000 evo runva before I got the kings and regret giving it away
Does the 13xp fit in the same bar?
What brand of bull bar do you have on the Isuzu? It looks like a complete bumper replacement.
It is. It's MCC. Absolute rubbish though! Paints oxidised, peeling and bars rusting all over the place. Fog lights are falling apart and recently on corrugations the spotties tore a hole out of the top of it 😂

Where yours looks like a full replacement
Mines a MCC steel winch bar. It's a pretty solid bar, but the Powdercoatings rubbish. It is a full bumper replacement.
@@WildTouring yea sweet I'll look into see if they do stuff in nsw
the Runva will be a good winch the kings is a cheap winch probably ok for the price
Had a Kings dominator on a 79 when I bought it, it snapped in half💩💩
When your bull bar was pulling off why wouldn’t you swap to a double line pulled reduce the stress on your bull bar

Ive got the 13xp, its overkill but .... i can so why not.
The benchmark is Ramsey, Warn then Superwinch. If u ain't got these then its walking home

When you winch you turn the steering to where you hooked the rope not the opposite way everyone knows that

Even if you
have a Runva or the Kings Domin8rx, there both made in China.
Yeah absolutely. Companies have their products built to different specifications and budgets though.
Your vehicle is only as strong as your weakest part

Nah you lost me when you said made in China.
fussy I take it you have a Sherpa? They are the only ones not made in China
@@mottthehoople693 No a Warn that I’ve had since 1996.
A vehicle should never be driven to assist progress when you are winching. That drive assist can cause shock loads to the winch causing it to fail.
