I don't get all the negs here, in music if musicians didn't make there own versions of tunes there would be no Chet's or Tommy's.
This is Sungha's version and the more versions we hear the more ideas are out there and more varied the music, lets face it, this kids no slouch on the guitar and I reckon I hear a mix of both Chet and Tommy in his version pretty clever really. Come on lets encourage the young ones to play more like this and maybe the future will be better for real music. All the best to you lad fae Bonnie Scotland.

He's got style-his own! He is enjoying himself a lot too! but he seems a shy, quiet guy...no need to show off. That's just the way he is.
Give him 20 years, the difficult parts will come together. The Difference is when you are playing it from your heart, and playing it as a copy note for Note. I have been playing for 42 years and it comes naturally. You learn the same thing when you learn piano. Timing and Dynamic's and Adding that groove that comes from inner Heart timing. The Trick is Improvising over the top of what you copy.
i like it how people compare one guitarist from the other instead of enjoying the music and the uniqueness in each and every guitarist....! I'd be bored of seeing people with same characteristics and abilities everywhere.
i like the way when he plays with his guitar he's also having fun playing it..

I like how he plays with the guitar. The slower tempo allows to have more freedom, but you can tell this is not his style. While the middle picking segment was sloppy, towards the end he shoved in a little Sungha of his own and it sounded good.
Not bad, but not very good either.
Everyone has the right to play whatever they want, I'm just pointing out that this doesn't sound so as good as what Sungha is used to play.
He is a terriffic player, but still.

i dont think so though, i think he played it to perfection, his ability to play the middle part so fast yet with so much accuracy is just breathtaking. i think he did an amzing job one of the best songs he did

This is not Tommy Emmanuel's guitar boogie. It's arranged by a Japanese guy called Tanaka Akihiro.
For the people comparing Sungha to Tommy, need to remember that Tommy Emmanuel improvises over this for in his live performances and has done for years, effortlessly. Also, Tommy Emmanuel was also a guitar prodigy but younger than Sungha. Sungha's is good but not good enough overall to be considered a seat with legends. But if everyone thinks Sungha is good now, think how good he'll be in the future...

Sungha Jung started to play guitar when he was 9 years old.
Ultimately it all comes down to passion. They both have it, love the guitar and that is what counts. As for the "comparison", of course Sungha has a lot to learn but he has years ahead to catch up on Tommy one day.

Tommy Emmanuel's got an amazing rhythm no doubt, seen him live twice, incredible. But Sungha Jung is the better finger-picker, he's more precise, accurate, and smooth. both are incredible in their own ways.

It wasn't supposed to be a copy of Tommy Emmanuel. If you look at the description, it clearly states, "arranged by Tanaka Akihiro." Sungha didn't arrange this piece, so how could he have copied Tommy's arrangement?

I can 100% guarantee Sungha can play it faster than he is here. If you get it that clean it's not difficult to up the tempo, but it doesn't mean he has to. If you're that big of a TE fan you should know this.

I can think of atleast 15 Sungha arrangements that tommy Emanuel could not play nearly as perfect. I met Sungha and he could play any song I asked literally there's a difference between a great guitarist and a guitar genius

I say this, the nicest way I know how.... But, Sungha isn't worth to tie Tommy Emmanuel's shoe... Tommy currently holds the award for WORLDS best finger style guitarist. I understand you're a Sungha fan, but be honest my friend. There are many guitarist who far outshine Sungha. Yes he is good, but dude.... comparing him to Tommy Emmanuel is like comparing a fish to a whale. Its all about humility too, which Tommy has plenty of, and I believe Sungha is developing swiftly as he grows in popularity.

Quentin kilmister I think BOO BAY meant that the comparison was unfair because Tommy is much older (thus has more experience). Im pretty sure he agrees that Tommy's rendition is much better, yet Sungha hasn't played guitar for nearly as long as Tommy has.
Jason Maiolo I think the comparison is fair. He is simply pointing out that Tommy's performance of Guitar Boogie is superior. He is not stating that Sungha Jung would never be as great as Tommy.
If a 3-years old child can play House of the Rising Sun, that is extremely impressive, but his playing will only be as great as the average guitarist's playing.

I'd have to disagree with you there, my friend. This is actually Tanaka Akihiro's arrangement of Guitar Boogie, not a 'poor copy'. If you pay attention to the two different versions you would see the individual characteristics of each guitarist. If playing another's song constitutes a 'poor copy', then I quite like this 'poor copy'.
