This tithe was for the poor and needy. It seems that the government has somewhat taken this one which isn't their responsibility. You mentioned it today and I was glad to hear it when you said that if someone doesn't feel comfortable giving to the church then give somewhere else where it is needed. I think a lot of people give in guilt thinking that they can't go to heaven or be accepted by God if they don't which to me is untrue. In turn some even give to the church and might want to be able to help someone in need and not be able to cause they gave their extra to the church or even say they can't cause they have to pay their tithe. That's where Matthew 23:23-25 kinda touches on. Helping others in need comes before the tithe. We shouldn't get so caught up in following the law and cause us to miss out on helping others in need. I know it is speaking on more than just that too. I just can't see Jesus saying to someone, "You gave that person all your money instead of to the church? Shame on you!" This tithe is still possible as I see it. I also understand that the church distributes this type of tithe to the poor and needy. As you stated today though, we can distribute it ourselves when we see fit. 4. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests. 42 “Make linen undergarments as a covering for the body, reaching from the waist to the thigh. 43 Aaron and his sons must wear them whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place, so that they will not incur guilt and die. “This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants. Technically only Aaron, his sons and descendants could be priests correct? This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” This tithe was for the priests. @@sung7042 that's the problem most people say they are followers of Jesus yet the don't follow His commands, a pastor can literally say anything from the Bible and they would believe the pastor over the actual words of Jesus. If Jesus did not command it then a follower of Jesus is not bound by it. For example Adventists keep the Sabbath because they say that Jesus kept the Sabbath, yes Jesus did, however he kept the whole law of Moses and he never commanded us to keep the law of Moses.

It is not that because God has become our Father we stopped tithing. Nowhere this claim is supported by any scripture. The biblical emphasis in the new testament is 'generous giving' based on Christian stewardship. Even that was the principle of the OT (1 Chr. 29). The tithe was to support the Levites who did not own anything. Under the NT, it's not limited to 10% - it's just 'giving' be it five, ten or 20% or above.

Abraham gave the first fruits of the spoils of war to Melchizedek. It was a one off no record he ever tithed again. In fact In the law the tithe wasn't 10%. There were different tithes.

However as Christians we still believe in the Old testament version.. Don't be mislead by false teachings just because they speak about Jesus. Jesus is in the father and so is The father in the son.. This means whatever the son speaks doesn't go out of the Father's Will. I strongly emphasize that these are wolves hiding in sheep but my dear the day you will meet the Lord there are no chances of repentance. Jesus was addressing the Pharisees not his followers. Read Matthew 4,5 and 6 if you want to know what is expected from followers of Christ.

No we have to pay tithe in the Church .income tax is different from tithe .income tax is related to government offices and tithe is related to Church management system.pleae read the Bible again .Dont mix the tithe with income tax.

@David Troyer as u also search and listen to the testimony of Angelica Zambrano second experience. You shall know the truth and it shall set u free. However as Christians we still believe in the Old testament version.. Don't be mislead by false teachings just because they speak about Jesus. Jesus is in the father and so is The father in the son.. This means whatever the son speaks doesn't go out of the Father's Will. I strongly emphasize that these are wolves hiding in sheep but my dear the day you will meet the Lord there are no chances of repentance.
