You're kinda correct. Reverb is the persistence of sound. Echo tends to fade rather quickly and you can hear a distinct pause between the sound. Example. A echo is like ...Hello! .....hello!......hello.. While a reverb is like Helllloooooooooooooooooooo While reverberation tends to go one for some time. The cave acts like a amphitheater or a cathedral in that the large open area contains their sound and creates the feeling of space. which is that ambiance that you are talking about.
For long time Pentaholics, this particular video was a big deal BECAUSE it was the first time we all saw Kevin solo with his singing voice instead of just beat boxing. What y'all felt was the EXACT reaction many of us had when the video first released! We couldn't believe "KEVIN IN SINGING!!" Kevin was very shy about his singing voice early on, but he's gotten much more confident. I highly recommend reacting to "Down" or "Sign of the Times" on his channel Kevin Olusola a.k.a. KO The reason you felt it was "warm and Christmasy" is because the song is about Mary and baby Jesus ... so yeah, it's a Christmas song and it was released on their Christmas album.
Kevin's biggest solos are "Imagine" (he has the lead for the last verse) and "Evolution of Michael Jackson" (he sings "The Way You Make Me Feel"). He also has little snippets in other songs, like "Amazing Grace", "Say Something", "The First Noel", "God Only Knows" and "Dreams".
You guys should really check out some of their "evolution of...." series. Also "imagine" and "can't hold us" two very different songs but OMG PTX did them so well!!
The word you were trying to think of could be "acoustics"? Choirs use that to describe how their voices sound to themselves in a given space- a cave or massive cathedral where there are echoes etc has different acoustics from an indoor studio where there's insulation/soft materials that absorb sound. Acoustics are fun to play with, my choir used to practice in all sorts of different spaces so we could learn to stay in tune/rhythm with each others parts no matter what kind of space we were in! Trying to blend harmonies onstage or outdoors is totally different from being in a small or soundproofed room so paying attention to acoustics can have a huge effect on the quality of a choir's sound. Ofc PTX are absolute professional masters of vocal effects, it's no coincidence that you caught the vibe they were going for xD
Kevin actually has Perfect Pitch as each member relies on him. Avi taught him to sing when they were roommates. The video was before Avi left in 2017, the location is the "original Batcave" located in Griffith Park in Los Angeles. The same park where the Observatory and "Hollywood" sign is located.
I enjoyed your review of Pentatonix and think they are awesome. I love listening to Kevin get to sing. He has a beautiful voice just like the rest of them. This song grabs my heart every time and I get a blessing and a sadness each time I hear it sung.
Kevin is a fabulous tenor and a very talented and well-trained musician. Watch him work magic as a one-man band covering the song DOWN. You can thank me later. Be well :)

Hi guys!! I will suggest you check out O Come All Ye Faithful, still with Avi (the guy with the beard). Then with Matt, the new bass, I suggest New Rules x Are you that Somebody, Sound of Silence, You're a Mean One Mr Grinch, and Amazing Grace. Looking forward to your upcoming reactions. And of course, check out their latest album The Lucky Ones.
Couple of things. First, the reason you felt a Christmas vibe is because it is a Christmas Song. Second, this is the first time we really got to hear Kevin sing and not just beatbox. Thankfully throughout the years he has had solo parts and sections in some other songs. Kevin is a triple threat; Singing, beatboxing, and cello.
Kevin didn't know he could sing. Avi taught him and so they probably all were very proud of him. I think this is one of his first solos, if not the first.

Lol, you said it perfectly. Thank you for explaining.
Avi's voice is definitely the definition of warm

Kevin is so talented. He hardly gets enough credit.
Not even close to enough until people watch his cover of "down" and then it's a different story 😂
You need to react to “beginners guide to pentatonix”! It tells their story and shows their range and talents ❤️
I think the word you might be looking for is acoustics... loved your reaction thank you for the share
Yes! Thank you!
"That it?"🤣 yep. We've all felt that

If you like gospel and KO singing. Need to watch Amazing Grace. Also listen to the 12 days of Christmas..
You definitely have to listen to "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" by Pentatonix.

If you like the Batman movies, this is the Batcave in Griffen Park in L. A. if it seems familiar to you. Perfect place to sing this song.
I liked your reaction! Thanks! I would recommend an Evolution of... video next.
This is a Christmas song. They're asking Mary if she knew she was giving birth to Son of God.
Kevin also sings when they do Imagine and Amazing Grace. It would be worth it to react to both songs.

One of my favorite songs by them! And this did come off their Christmas album so Christmas vibes was right lol

And that little Carnegie Hall performance on the sax.
"I feel some Christmas vibes " - it's about the birth of Jesus... well spotted Yank!
Kevin didn't know he could sing. Avi taught him and so they probably all were very proud of him. I think this is one of his first solos, if not the first.
Kevin sings in this one and in Run To You, Say Something, Amazing Grace, Imagine, and he raps in Sing.
Welcome to the rabbit hole called Pentatonix, it's great.
This was one of the songs on their Xmas album that year.
Resonance, not ambiance or reverb, but definitely beautiful ❤️
