As a Filipino-born, my first ever visit to Brazil was life-changing and broke lotsa stereotypes. Back home in the Philippines, many tend to stereotype other cultures and other groups of people. I cannot wait to return and hopefully stay a little bit longer.
Things I like about Brasil:
• Natural beauty - the lush tropical urban rainforests, jungles, the beaches. You can still enjoy the calibre of Palawan beaches in Brasil, Ilha de Fernando de Noronha is in my bucketlist. It’s so diverse I never thought that some parts of Brazil caan get cold snaps, frost and even snow! Floripa is in the bucketlist too. People are talking about it here in the States.
• People -the warmth, the hospitality, as a person of color, I don’t get judged if I get myself a tan. Not in the Philippines. 😂
• Parties/Festivals/Feasts -Brazilians know how to party
• Live Music -Bossa Nova, Batucada, Samba, Pagode name it
Things I do not like:
• Vendedores ambulantes can be pushy in touristy areas but I was told to refuse or avoid.
• Safety can be a concern in certain areas not all of Brasil. It’s a very huge country almost the size of the contiguous United States with a big population so that explains it. The bigger the population the more crazy people it has.
