@eVill420 still plenty valuable. If you win those two FT1s, you only need to win 1 of 3 ft3s. Not to mention cheering out a ft1 win over a higher seeded team is a lot easier.
@@purplekey9330 Bo3, first game is the same as a Bo1. The teams prepare the same way for first game for both formats. not to mention, getting to the 0-2 or 2-0 stage and not having Bo3 experience is way worse
@eVill420 I would have to disagree. In a Bo3, the first game is the least impactful. This makes it ideal for scouting or testing the opponents. Generally using it to improve their game 2 and 3. In a Bo1 you give it everything you have, and try to broadside your opponent. Also you're talking like they said "No more Bo3s". Which is just wrong. A single of 3 splits will be Bo1s, and its before MSI. The worlds split is Bo3, and includes cross regional practice. So I don't think this is gonna suddenly break NAs steam
It’s sad that the LCS has disappeared. The 'League of Legends Championship' was the only tournament, unlike the LEC, LCK, or others, where you didn’t need to specify the region in the name. It’s a shame to lose such a classic title.
We went from clowning on EU minimum 27 games per team… now we have minimum 26 games per team. Edit: for the entire year. What a joke of a format. Split 1 - 17.2, Split 2 - 28.9, Split 3 - 17.4 LCK - 112.7 games/year average. Split 1 - 21.7, Split 2 - 49, Split 3 - 42
@@colin5197 I'm talking across the entire year. We have 4 minimum games winter (4 bo3), 14 games spring (14 bo1), and 8 games summer (4 bo3). Hope that puts it into perspective.
Notice how this has been the case ever since franchising began in 2017? It's been like this for a long time and it's the reason a majority of Na fans stopped watching. I used to have 20-30 friends minimum who regularly watched the lcs and there is not one of those same people who do now. At best they tune in for some worlds games.
Why the hell would you bring BO1 back?! Edit: this summer format is also bad. Teams going from playing minimum 7 bo3 to possibly being eliminated in 4???? 4 BO3 and your split is done?? What a joke.
@@colinree6131 And all that and it still won't equate to even half the amount of games played by the LCK/LPL, and people wonder why there's a giant gap in talent 🤣
Split 3 looks like the worst format I have ever seen. So the 4th,5th,6th seeds from LCS are going to be eliminated from Worlds with a BO3????? So for example this last year 100T would have been fighting Cloud9 for worlds possibility in a BO3 and never even get a BO5 if they lost. Insanely bad. Imagine making a format where your whole season hinges on one BO3 if you happen to lose to the top 1 or 2 seed.
Well this is fucking depressing. After 10 years of dropping the ball and letting the fans down they finally make some good changes last year like Bo3 just to throw them away. If you really want us to stop watching so badly, then we will.
Welcome to the Lcs, where franchising took over advertising all these positive changes coming to the league and instead they absolutely ruined it. Now our region doesn't even have a place where our players can showcase our skills without being in the hands of utterly incompetent management that is only there because they convinced some idiots to let them burn 10's of millions of dollars.
Come join the rest of the 99% that stopped watching years ago after we all realized franchising decimated the league from the top down. It's still fun to watch at worlds, but the entire management structure in this league is so utterly incompetent that they lost most of their viewers.
This will either be the best or the worst decision ever made for this environment. I'm leaning towards the latter so far. edit: now we are the only major region doing best of ones again, this is already looking so bad
The fact that you are still on the edge says a lot about your dedication you are truly the last 1% of viewers that somehow still give the management of the lcs some sort of the benefit of the doubt. Everyone else either stopped watching years ago or only watches for worlds.
As much as I think this is a huge improvement, three splits is way too confusing to keep track of. It seems it makes even more splits meaningless in the grand scheme just cuz they can run it back in a few weeks. I think its horrible in Europe and now with a whole new setup in the Americas, its gonna make an already confusing split worse. Let's hope dropoff isnt too wild
I can't wait to hear Jatt, make fun of/complain about 3 splits like he have done ever since the LEC implemented it (and it have been terrible with 3 splits).
You are truly the first comment I've seen about any of these changes that mentions it being some sort of improvement. We've lost 40% of our teams, we've lost worlds spots, we now no longer even have our own region, we have to syphon off brazils viewership to appease american sponsors since the managers of this league absolutely destroyed it.
Been watching since season 1 of LCS. It looks like a lot of games which is fun, but Bo3 is how you make your teams better for worlds. Really dislike the less focus on winning worlds, sure the regional rivalry will be cool but I could care less about SA teams.
I don’t understand why they insist on making league formats so confusing when you look at traditional sports are so generic with their format regular season and playoffs. It’s not a broken system that needs fixing.
This is too confusing. Sure, I can learn how it works, but this is convoluted enough to make people not want to try and understand, and instead just give up, lowering viewership. Too confusing, riot plz fix.
If Im understanding Worlds qualification correctly, the “top seed from each conference will already qualify for worlds, while the rest of the teams will battle for the last remaining slot”. So do playoffs not matter at all if two teams already qualified before playoffs even begin? Whats up with that?? The “pick and play” system seems complete bogus - bad teams will be forced to play teams above their weight class which will likely make for low quality games, and when the pick priority flips, the best team will pick the worst team for the same effect on game quality. I’m also not a fan of how the North and South interact. You mean to tell me that we’ve consolidated three regions, nuked LLA from orbit, only to keep them mostly separate anyway? From the outset, this format appears to be a massive fumble.
It just ended what do you mean, we are now combining with brazil to use their viewership for american sponsors. We no longer have our own league because those who managed it ran it straight into the ground after franchsing was implemented.
@@lucratyo2285 No we are the "americas" region now which means It's the former lcs, former latin american region, and former brazilian region all coming together. We can't afford our own league anymore sadly.
Finally they did something to improve the league with a concrete plan from top to bottom, now to prohibit imports for a couple of years to let the home talent settle first
Why not just call it LCS???... it It really was perfect since i didn't got like "NALCS" or "LEC". LCS was such a good name it can be put to all regions BACK TO BO1?!. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!. People are scared of change. I'm excited for this. We have to change to bring league esports as a sustainable system for years to come. This is a step in the right direction and it will have road bumps along the way but that's life! Im excited!
I mean for nearly 8 years straight since franchising came in their changes did nothing but lose over 90% of the viewership do to how absolutely terrible each of their changes were. We lost 40% of our teams, we lost worlds spots, and now we lost our ability to even have our own region. I hate to tell you this but if you think these changes are for anything other than to use brazilian viewers to sell american sponsorships you are going to be very mistaken this is no positive for the lcs or brazil It's all for money.
Pretty dope that DSG made it to the LCS or LTA north or whatever, good for them. Also super excited for fearless drafts, it will inevitably lead to players having to flex champ pools
Lcs no longer has it's own region do to the incompetence of the management in the league. So we are now combining with brazil and the latin american regions to use their viewership to appeal to sponsors here in the u.s.a we lost 40% of our teams also. And they are advertising relegations but it is not since none of the franchised teams can get relegated.
@ sorry I was referring to the 3rd split Picking system. Seems like something kinda new a different but overall this feels bad cause LCS was fun to watch last year.
Exactly, they took the growing flourishing lcs before franchising. Then proceeded to completely mismanage it to the point where noone watches, and now we are going to ruin brazils growing region to use their viewers for american sponsors. Poor brazil they don't know what these people did to this region and what's to come.
Especially this dogshit Company lol saying less then 0.0006% gets permad is ridicolous and ppl believe that. And thats like what 200thousand accs that got banned according to "Riot"
Really can't put into words how not excited I am for Bo1's again. And LTA?This new format and name change has really killed all the excitement I had after the positive steps LCS took this past year
No real person that's not a bot or a paid riot messenger trying to do some massive damage control thinks this, they are getting decimated riot now for these changes.
Just when it feels like LCS actually got the formula right, feeling like a good balance of a fun watchable product and competitive league; they go ahead and just break everything apart and create this mess. RIP to the LCS, I guess we got close to a good run.
Nobody is watching the league so they are limiting the amount of games they broadcast to save money since no product they are pushing is making money. They don't care about competition only cutting costs.
Gonna be an interesting new chapter. Goodbye LCS, you will always be special in my heart. I don't understand why there will only be 1 stadium event in NA every 3 years, that's unacceptable. Live events are what make esports real and without them, it is so hollow
Pretty lame how LCS loses an MSI spot to the south. We have 2 teams that are competitive internationally but its likely a worse southern team will take TL/FLY spot.
It's all about viewership and using brazils viewers to appeal to american sponsors. They mismanaged the lcs to the point it no longer exists and now they are about to do the same to brazil since they view the lcs as far too damaged to recover I assume. If they actually wanted to grow the league they would never make these changes, this is them finally giving up on the region.
I got a question for split 3 week 5-6. Are there matches in between the weeks? It seems like the winner of the upper bracket moves to qualifying series. The two winners of the lower bracket play each other, let’s call it match X. The loser of match X goes to week 6 elimination series. The winner of match X plays the loser from the upper bracket and the winner moves to the qualifying series while the loser goes to the elimination series? Did I get that correct? I’m not sure why those matches aren’t displayed in the graphic
I thought it was going to be two teams from LLA. I'm happy we get 100 Thieves and Disguised next year, but I'm just surprised they couldn't find a 2nd LLA team to take the spot.
If franchising is still here the future will only hold a trajectory downward or the league being in a straight freefall. That's what the future holds since that's what the league has been since franchising came in.
No what really happened was the lcs got dismantled and is combing with brazil to use their viewers to appeal to american sponsors. It's the reason why we went from 10 teams to six they have been disassembling the league for some time now because they are not competent enough to grow it. They view it as if they damaged it too bad to recover, so instead they are going to do the same to brazil.
Its official both LCS and LEC are f*cked. Ive been a loyal follower of both but this right here doesnt make any sense. If each conference has 2 guest spots it makes sense to me have 2 NA teams guest appear in the south america conference and the other way around aswell. As for the rest of this format LEC does it too trying to give each split its own "flavour" just ruins a working formula. You finally had it right with BO3 setups and toss it the very next season...wow just plain wow.
I don't really understand the whole "losers pick stronger opponents" thing. What determines the order of which team picks first and why wouldn't they just pick the weakest looking team? Also why do winners play losers, don't you want teams of equal level playing each other, like in regular Swiss?
With 16 teams, why didn't just copied the LPL format and allowed all teams to compete with each other for 3 splits instead of splitting North and South separately before playoffs?? With the LPL format, all teams would actually be allowed to grow together with bigger pool of competition and make the winning teams more competitive once they get to MSI and Worlds
Because then you have to move all the teams to either SA or NA and 1 side would be upset. Although the NA orgs would probably love to move to SA, it's way more affordable than LA lmao
@@colin5197 There's actually a simple solution to that. Split 1 or Winter Split can happen in SA while Split 2 or Spring Split gets held in Latin America and finally Split 3 or Summer Split happens in NA

Yes, riot is fumbling the greatest masterpiece of their lives. League had the potential to be a sport stable video game but they are just letting rot to waste. Riot is just extremely lucky that esports already had some stability in korea and China. Otherwise league of legends might have been dead by now.
Or you could make the argument that they cashed out and received hundreds of millions of dollars if not a billion dollars from people that were dumb enough to pay for those franchise buy in spots. I honestly think at this point riot is just checked out because they already got paid and simply do the bare minimum to allow these people to utterly mismanage the league.
Classic Riot NA move. The higher ups make a terrible decision that is so flawed that a child could point out the holes in it. And because they have the most power nobody can correct them or bring up how bad this plan is
100 Thieves leaving the league feels like a massive betrayal of not only the league but of the fans that have supported them tirelessly over the years. But if they don't want to stay, then good riddance. There's no place for teams that aren't passionate or dedicated to this league.
you guys know the best of ones are to determine seeding for a DOUBLE ELIMINATION BO5 bracket, right? that the season starts with a double elimination bo3 bracket? and ends with a bo3 single round robin into elimination bracket? which also determines seeding for another full BO5 bracket? honestly think this isnt toooo much of a downgrade. it sucks that only finals of those bo3s are bo5, it should be semi finals and finals, and the bo1's arent great but! its only for half a split. and then the other half of that split is bo5 just like msi, i think this will do a pretty good job of preparing our teams for all the avenues through which international play takes place, not just for late bracket worlds, but getting there more consistently too.
Why the hell is it BO1 in split 2?! Not only is bo3 better as far as competition, but it also had better viewership last split as well. Then split 1 and 3 being bo3 but b01 in split 2 just makes zero sense.

You must be a paid responded if you think tsm didn't completely usurp every other team in terms of popularity.
Getting rid of trash is a good thing i agree which is why I support full relegations to allow players who are good to be in this league, not franchises who pay so they will never be relegated.
And in terms of support we don't even have a league anymore we are getting combined with brazil and latin america because noone is watching our league at all. It's gone completely. Our region was growing and prospering before franchising came into play, we were ahead of europe in viewership, now we've lost 90% + of all fans that will never come back to the absolute incompetence of everyone who has managed this league.
@@HenryDang-z6o No because the people who managed the league absolutely bankrupted themselves with incompetence. 90% of all the fans stopped watching so they needed something fast to get money to come back. So with brazil being a growing region just like na was before franchising ruined it we will be using their viewership to sell to American sponsors.
Waiting for the MarkZ explanation as to why we're back to Bo1's before I get angry...but I'm already pessimistic
2/3s of the year are Bo3s tho
Like worlds still has some Bo1s, so keeping a little of the year to be Bo1 makes sense to me
@@purplekey9330 nah it really doesn't, the only matches that are bo1 are the non-elimination games
Big agree. RIP
LPL = League of Legends Pro League
It use to be NA LCS back when there was the EU LCS
This is untrue but ok
REAL. LCS already made sense, they didnt need to change it. wtf
Well, sucks more than I hoped. Back to bo1s is depressing
We went from clowning on EU minimum 27 games per team… now we have minimum 26 games per team. Edit: for the entire year.
What a joke of a format.
Edit 2: Assuming Bo3 means 2.5 average games and Bo5 means 4 average games:
LTA- 47.5 games/year average. Split 1 - 8.625, Split 2 - 22, Split 3 - 16.875
LEC - 63.5 games/year average. Split 1 - 17.2, Split 2 - 28.9, Split 3 - 17.4
LCK - 112.7 games/year average. Split 1 - 21.7, Split 2 - 49, Split 3 - 42
Last summer the minimum was 14 games
@@colin5197 I'm talking across the entire year. We have 4 minimum games winter (4 bo3), 14 games spring (14 bo1), and 8 games summer (4 bo3). Hope that puts it into perspective.
How many games per year did we have in 2024 season?
@ bottom teams had a minimum of 28 games
@@IronCobraTD We had a minimum 28 games across the whole year last year... 1 more than EU btw.
Calm your tits lmao
I've lived long enough to see the conception, entire lifespan, and death of the LCS. Holy crap, I wonder how this will change the competitive scene.
Really giving "Riot forced our hand hard."
for spanish speakers "LTA" is something similar to "up yours", rofl
Back to bo1 in spring 💀 everytime they making an improvement, they instant going 2 steps backwards
What a joke.
if you're that shit then good riddance.
Idk about you, but i'm here to watch the good teams. Not shopify vs immortals
The actual numbers: Assuming Bo3 means 2.5 average games and Bo5 means 4 average games,
LTA- 47.5 games/year average. Split 1 - 8.625, Split 2 - 22, Split 3 - 16.875
LEC - 63.5 games/year average. Split 1 - 17.2, Split 2 - 28.9, Split 3 - 17.4
LCK - 112.7 games/year average. Split 1 - 21.7, Split 2 - 49, Split 3 - 42
Back to bo1s, really? LCK/LPL plays 50 bo3s a year while we're stuck with bo1s is just such a fucking joke
Split 1 and 3 are majority bo3 AND we also have three sets of playoffs
@@colinree6131 And all that and it still won't equate to even half the amount of games played by the LCK/LPL, and people wonder why there's a giant gap in talent 🤣
50 is an exaggeration, LCK teams in 2024 played 36 Bo3s
Is this a test to see how much you can make LCS fans hate Brazil?
yoooo
LCS teams get robbed of a slot from Brazil and get IRL robbed when they have to go and play in Brazil
i can see both fanbases becoming extremely toxic against each other
As excited as i am for the teams, competition, and guest slots having to be defended: The format seems super all over the board.
Kinda hate this. Really reduces me caring about pro league as an LCS fan.
Why?
Split 3 looks like the worst format I have ever seen. So the 4th,5th,6th seeds from LCS are going to be eliminated from Worlds with a BO3?????
So for example this last year 100T would have been fighting Cloud9 for worlds possibility in a BO3 and never even get a BO5 if they lost. Insanely bad.
Imagine making a format where your whole season hinges on one BO3 if you happen to lose to the top 1 or 2 seed.
Well dang the only reason me and all my friends actually watched LCS this past year was because of the BO3s :/
Man this sucks, I miss LCS
not enough money i guess riot earned in LCS
At least North gets to beat up on the South but what a shame for the LCS
Goodbye LCS. If the theme song don’t stay the same I will riot.
Amen to that
Well this is fucking depressing. After 10 years of dropping the ball and letting the fans down they finally make some good changes last year like Bo3 just to throw them away.
If you really want us to stop watching so badly, then we will.
I had already quitted watching since they moved the schedule to weekdays. Now we have timezone and countries different.
Still don't know who I feel about this :/
Also bo1's coming back is negative pace
Glad to see we're taking steps backwards and going back to Bo1
As much as I think this is a huge improvement, three splits is way too confusing to keep track of. It seems it makes even more splits meaningless in the grand scheme just cuz they can run it back in a few weeks. I think its horrible in Europe and now with a whole new setup in the Americas, its gonna make an already confusing split worse. Let's hope dropoff isnt too wild
Every region is doing 3 splits. And 3 splits was actually the best format back when OGN was running lck
Everyones commenting on the BO1's but why in the hell do the teams that go 2-0 up in split 3 play against the worst teams that are 0-2?
Split 2 is confusing to me but Im excited to see more international play.
less international play from NA teams tho
I miss the LCS already. 😢💔 HOW DARE YOU, RIOTGAMES!!!
:,(
Been watching since season 1 of LCS.
NOOOO bo1s in split 2 WHY
This is too confusing. Sure, I can learn how it works, but this is convoluted enough to make people not want to try and understand, and instead just give up, lowering viewership. Too confusing, riot plz fix.
This format is so shit its actually insane i dont think they could make a worse one if the tried holy
No. This is League championship series. I refuse this name change.
Every other region is doing Bo3 and we swap back to single games???? So stupid!!!!
I hope this new rivalries make a more competitive scene so we can be a contender internationally
from 10 to franchise to 8 to 6 how many year NA league will survive
It just ended what do you mean, we are now combining with brazil to use their viewership for american sponsors. We no longer have our own league because those who managed it ran it straight into the ground after franchsing was implemented.
@@rebornthanos yes ,but c9 TL still NA team right ?
@@lucratyo2285 No we are the "americas" region now which means It's the former lcs, former latin american region, and former brazilian region all coming together. We can't afford our own league anymore sadly.
Finally they did something to improve the league with a concrete plan from top to bottom, now to prohibit imports for a couple of years to let the home talent settle first
Only a few people will know the real reason why they changed the name.
Why not just call it LCS???... it It really was perfect since i didn't got like "NALCS" or "LEC". LCS was such a good name it can be put to all regions
BACK TO BO1?!. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!. This region going back to shit again. WHY?!. WHY REMOVE ThE BO3?!!. BO3 should be MUST for all 3 splits. Split 2 should be Bo3 too. Why have one single split with BO1? That limited the grow an development of rosters
Split 2 and 3 are such a dumb stupid formats. Like what is this crap? who though this formats were good?
@@RomnysGonzalez I agree. It is a pointless rebranding.
They could've even called it the LCA and it'd sound a lot better
Can anyone make an explainer for this explainer?
Lcs no longer has it's own region do to the incompetence of the management in the league. So we are now combining with brazil and the latin american regions to use their viewership to appeal to sponsors here in the u.s.a we lost 40% of our teams also. And they are advertising relegations but it is not since none of the franchised teams can get relegated.
This feels beyond bad. All my hope for competitive 2025 west just got drained out of me, while watching this video.
It’s been a good ride LCS bit time for a new era for western League you won’t be forgotten
Tentatively optimistic. We will see how this all shakes up!
Clear as mud 👍
Split 3 format is interesting but man does this feel bad.
Every region has to bring three splits in sadly :( idk if the third international tournament is worth it
@ sorry I was referring to the 3rd split Picking system. Seems like something kinda new a different but overall this feels bad cause LCS was fun to watch last year.
So, nobody was watching league in US, so the focus is south america for growth and money.
Exactly, they took the growing flourishing lcs before franchising. Then proceeded to completely mismanage it to the point where noone watches, and now we are going to ruin brazils growing region to use their viewers for american sponsors. Poor brazil they don't know what these people did to this region and what's to come.
Split 2 with the double bo1s just seems pointless.
I can already see everyone being confused, burned out from watching, and just not happy
I really like it when companies fix what isn't broken
Especially this dogshit Company lol saying less then 0.0006% gets permad is ridicolous and ppl believe that. And thats like what 200thousand accs that got banned according to "Riot"
Really can't put into words how not excited I am for Bo1's again. And LTA?This new format and name change has really killed all the excitement I had after the positive steps LCS took this past year
I'm so excited :) The development is good for the League overall.
RIP to the LCS, I guess we got close to a good run.
what’s the point of the best of 1’s though im confused
Kinda sad about this but can't believe DSG is in LTA that's incredible
Riot makes good format decisions challenge: IMPOSSIBLE
Feels bad to go back to B01s. This year has been so good. We'll see how it goes next year. Not sure about this format
Rip LCS!!! Excited for the new chapter with our American hermanos!
I know I'm just one voice, and I'm probably just too dumb, but this is too complicated for me to understand...
LOL NA IS OFFICIALLY DEMOTED BY RIOT AS A WILDCARD REGION
This really went from the NA LCS to the LCS to now the LTA xD
who let Mark cook. the whole kitchen is now on fire
Rest in Peace LCS, it was the best of times - cheers to what the future holds
If franchising is still here the future will only hold a trajectory downward or the league being in a straight freefall. That's what the future holds since that's what the league has been since franchising came in.
I feel like making something more complicated doesn’t necessarily make it more interesting.
Fearless Draft should be the way to go. More champions more whacky combos lets goooooooooooooooo
So what I got from this was that LLA got basically dismantled so few slots open for them
No what really happened was the lcs got dismantled and is combing with brazil to use their viewers to appeal to american sponsors. It's the reason why we went from 10 teams to six they have been disassembling the league for some time now because they are not competent enough to grow it. They view it as if they damaged it too bad to recover, so instead they are going to do the same to brazil.
R.I.P LCS you will be dearly missed.
@rensomusni8419 that sounds even more costly lmao.
Now orgs need to have a base in NA and SA?
@rensomusni8419 you think riot wants to pay for that
@@Darkstormsun9865 If they really want the West to ever hope at getting close to Eastern Teams' caliber, they should. EU West could also get united with Nordic and EU East to boost competition
It's incredible how poorly Riot has handled the Esports scene.
How will the LTA MSI one and two seed be decided?
Classic Riot NA move. The higher ups make a terrible decision that is so flawed that a child could point out the holes in it. And because they have the most power nobody can correct them or bring up how bad this plan is
What's the difference between a 'Partner' team and 'Guest' team?
I wish it was full Bo3... but maybe something will change. Bo3 is too good
100 Thieves leaving the league feels like a massive betrayal of not only the league but of the fans that have supported them tirelessly over the years.
This thing suuuuuucks
Crazy how LCS blew through like _______200 million_______ in franchising fees... and we end up with this 6 years later lol
Split 2 MUST be single RR Bo3s. Mr Zimmerman let us down 😔
Why the hell is it BO1 in split 2?! Not only is bo3 better as far as competition, but it also had better viewership last split as well. Then split 1 and 3 being bo3 but b01 in split 2 just makes zero sense.
LYON GAMING IS BACK OMG, SOMEONE WAKE ME UP!!!
