I really like your approach to this subject, so many youtubers who teach English try to convince the audience that they can speak like natives, but as you said - it's impossible when you start learning as an adult. I personally have this issue that I'm always trying to hide my accent and sound as native as possible simply because I'm ashamed... I live in the UK and I have to say my pronunciation is getting better and better in time, but I have to admit that I lose too much time and energy on trying to hide myself and pretend like I'm somebody else. Your video made me think. Maybe it's better to stop being ashamed and simply embrace who I am :) Many thanks!
0:41 What a great actor, hahaha! You're awesome Christian! I just aced my 120-hr Bridge TEFL course (98% global grade), but preparing for work search, a tsunami of bad vibes about the barrier a non-native speaker like me could face trying to get a job hit me! I still have to shake off the remains of anxiety I got from all this, but finding your channel has lifted off a bunch of these negative feelings! I have been binge-watching your videos since! Kudos, for everything you do! Your initiatives are vital for people like me, and I know I am not alone in this case! Great humor btw. Cheers, and see you in another video!
Wow. I made my experiment. I closed my eyes, to heard Sofia pronouncing "BA" sound. And I heard "BA" sound each time. But, I heard "BA", "DA" and "VA" when Christian pronounced the sounds. Thanks, Great experience!
I love this video!!! Christian, you are perfect, your speech is clear, it's so pleasure hear you speaking. I'm a English teacher but I am a learner too. It's so difficult to find good videos , but yours are excellent. Ah, there was an little animal coming down on the closet!!! So funny.
I have been trying to lose my accent because many teachers around the world say it is possible. I'm very happy with your class, hear form you it's not possible and it is not necessary make me very happy! Thank your man!
Hello Christian Thanks a lot for your today's class.. You're a great English teacher I have been living in Netherlands about 24 years. I always struggled about my accent in dutch Language. But today i have learned some important and usefull things from you which i never had heard before.I completley agree with you and i ll keep my own accent. Regards , sean from Netherlands
Yes, Christian, you are right. We can learn how to articulate but if we don't practice we never could pronounce them. I am really grateful to you that you persuaded me to send records. They are full of mistakes but I hope I will make less and less mistakes. I recommend everybody to cope with the first difficulty as the second will be easier If we make records our pronunciation will improve. It's very important to share our records as we try to be perfect if we know that lots of people will listen to them. It's a dream for me and I am happy that I dared to undertake my bad pronunciation. Of course I heard my mistakes, and I could correct them when I listen to them. But I could correct them at the next record.
Hi Christian. The first part was really shocking. Now I understand that is not my accent what I want to change, what I really want is produce correctly the important sounds of English. I like this sort of videos... And I like your intros :) Thank you very much.
What a wonderfull video!!! Thank you again for teaching me. You are amazing!!! And today is sunday!! The best.......idea, is fishing sometimes! Hahahahah cya
Hello Christian! I've studied English for ages, but I think that I've done in bad way because I can't speak in English fluently also I feel very embarrased when I have to do it. You're an awesome teacher and your peaces of advice are really useful for me to improve my speaking. Overall, thank you a lot for accept me in the group.
Hi Francisca! The past doesn't matter. Now you can move forward focussing on communication and overcoming your fear of speaking. You can do it. I believe in you. Go!
I would like give more than one "liked", but it's impossible. So, receive more than 1000 "liked" throught this words. Simply fantastic! Thank you so much!
An accent is always present but according to my experience when you speak with a slight accent people more willing to communicate with you than when you have a terrible accent. In my opinion, a level of your accent is an index of diligence and even respect, if you want, to the culture and people with whom you speak. An accent unconsciously influences on your partners during the conversation and predisposes them to you. If you want to make impression on people it matters.
Maybe. How about someone with a strong Chinese or Vietnamese accent for someone from Texas, Newcastle or just other non-English speakers? I think we have to speak about a correct pronunciation. So what is the accent really? Incorrect pronunciation? A new language? Are American, Canadian, British, Australian English different languages? French and English have many words which are written in the same way but have different pronunciations. For example, the word "table" and even "example". I think in this case we have to speak about comparing with a local accent or language where it is spoken.
Word up!!! teacher Crsitian your class was awesome I'm a Brazilian and I know how to practice pronunciation is so tough but however be patient is the key.
Your accent so beautiful to me ! The way you bring the lesson to us was very thoughtfull and usefull. And yes i think both you are some kind of hollywood starts :) cheer !
I have come here after your video on Lucy, glad you guys are open to admit whatever is wrong and work to fix it. I have a question, that in most of your videos you have said that it's difficult to change your accent once you reach adolescence. What about those who are good at mimicking other people's voice and good at imitating others?
Great lesson! Just one thing, 'year' is pronounced /jɪə/ and the first sound is the /j/ sound (sometimes called "yod"), which is a consonant, a bit diferent from the vowel /ɪ/. Thanks for sharing your lessons!
In my classes I try to use everyday language so that people can follow without needing any extra vocabulary. Depending on the dialect the 'Y' can be either VERY similar or identical to the 'I', and that's good enough for most learners! I hope to see you in class again soon!
It was really interesting and i was sure that i would have understood that in a right way, but then it was a very big surprise to me at the beginnig of the lesson.
Hi Christian. I am from India and currently learning the British and the Australian accent to crack Ielts exam. Do you mind to make a video of how the alphabets from A to Z are pronounced in Australian and British accent? That's the critical part in an Ielts listening test. I could not find a better person to put this request. Love from India.
Hi Christian! I really enjoy learning English with the help of your channel. Thanks a lot!!! I have a question: in one of your videos you said that [w] is a vowel. Would you be so kind to explain that, because I've never heard that before...
Thanks Chritian for your videos that I hear and see with a very good attention. You have a very nice and good pronunciation. Are you australian? I have in mind that australian natives have a very rare one. Thanks and continue with your videos.
Awesome as always Christian! You tricked me on the second Ba Ba Ba (thought it was Da Da Da) but the third time I noticed it was Ba Ba Ba really, even looking her mouth movements the sound didn't fit with Va Va Va. When you talked about the y sound in the word year, I remembered how not a long time ago I struggled to distinguish the sound of the words 'year' and 'ear', so to pronounce them differently. You're a great Teacher, if I lived there I wish could be your student, but for now I'm glad being you RUclips student 😄
Hi Angélica! I wasn't tricking you, your own brain was! I'm glad that my classes are helping you and I hope that one day we can have a class together in real life!
Dear Christian, This is the video ever which has encouraged me to speak. Thank you very much.
Christian: you are the best english Teacher 👍🤩☺️👏
My God! I found the youtube channel of my life! This was amazing!

You are the best teacher in RUclips.
Very good teacher! This is my first video that I watch without subtitles and I understand everything, I'm very happy! Congratulations for your work!
I really love your lessons because you always apply cientific based information to explain everything!!!

That makes me really happy Sean. I'm glad that you have decided to keep your accent. Now you can be free to just be 'you' and communicate!
you has absolutely right , everyone has an accent and the important thing is to be understood , thanks for your class
Yes! We all have accents. Some people forget this!
I really love your videos, it helps me to improve my English, thank you so much!
Very nice! That explains why is easier to us understand someone speaking a language through a video instead a voice call
Yes, Christian, you are right. We can learn how to articulate but if we don't practice we never could pronounce them. I am really grateful to you that you persuaded me to send records. I love your videos, I can see the difference between the first and the last Sofia's pronunciation. Thanks
Sophia is so beautiful that even "BA BA BA" sounds melodious.
Sophia:a mediterranean or latinoamerican beauty.
Hi, im from Mozambique and i like your lessons.
Wonderful, your accent is beautiful. I love this concept!!
An accent is always present but according to my experience when you speak with a slight accent people more willing to communicate with you than when you have a terrible accent. There is no such thing as a slight accent. Slight is relative. A slight Newcastle accent is not very slight to someone from Texas...
