Very important to have someone on the ground you can trust too. So many times I’ve been put with inexperienced people who just wanna rush things and they get bored with the slow digging.

If you dig with mechanized equipment within 18 inches of either side of the mark you are liable for the break. You are supposed to hand dig it or use hydro excavation. We all do it but you aren’t getting away with it if you break the line. Never dig across the line. Dig the line longways with any utility. Way less chance of breaking a line digging lengthwise than digging across it. Not trying to be a negative Nancy . I worked in gas replacement for a local gas company for several years. Keep up the great videos!

Hi Brian being from the uk we don't see many graders could you do a video of how to drive a grader love the channel and the podcast👍

  • @xaviercolon7746

Video I've been looking for a long time thank you ! I've been looking a way to dig efficient but no rip out unmarked utilities !

  • @snowblowerman5115

The safest way to do is to get with the utility and just take a couple buckets wide. Scratch and pull up scratch and pull up that’s the safest way to do it. Way less chance of tearing across it. I used to work for a contractor that did work for Verizon can’t tell ya how many repair jobs I went on from people digging accross them yeah it can be done but it’s not the safest way. Reason why atleast around here all utility company have rules if you dig a cross them your in trouble. The last place I worked doing directional drillling we’d haft to spot a dozen utilities a day we had our own locator to double check that was a real time saver

Hi Brian I got one of your stickers on a you tuber in the uk I sent him one of your stickers and he's mentioned it on his channel alis digger diary 👍

When I get close utility don't even use a shovel. You can slice through the gas line without even breaking a sweat. Break out the shop Vac. It even works cleaning out the bottom of post holes

    Killer shirt 😎

Cheaper to buy/rent a locator to find utility depths. This method shown is a waste of time and energy.
