    Another lovely video, James and you got some great photos too, especially that last one, what a belter. You can't beat a good waterfall in autumn. All the best.

    Here in Greece autumn colours 🍂 came earlier this year! Almost 2 weeks before usual. We had a very hot and dry summer and that might be the reason 🍁

    Solid post and sterling images, James! ;👍Sleepy-time music. Helpful comp and settings tips and rationale. First image works best for me in that the water zig-zags directions - nice. (No chemical foam this time.) My guess is that you were anxious to capture fall colors, but will return to that spot a bit later when there’s less green, no? Site elevation a color factor; what is the elevation of that venue? Same issue all around IOM? Ever use light-painting in dim areas to get target effect?
    As I recall, you are also an ace astrophotographer. Remember the starlit image of silhouetted ruins. Read that recent solar storm will reveal northern lights visible in parts of UK. Hope you get/got to photograph the event in IOM. Hope your book is doing well.
    All that running water. For some strange reason I gotta go pee now😁. Cheers!

      Thanks very much Paul! I returned a week later and the leaves had mostly blown off the branches in the location of that first shot due to the strong winds we're had. It's very difficult to time Autumn shots perfectly, , there is almost always weather which gets in the way of the best intentioned plans. Elevation will be around 100m above sea level I'd estimate. Artificial light is a big no no for me. I've tried it in the past and it almost always fails. You'll be pleased to hear that I did get some Northern Lights images a few days ago - I may well put a video together on the subject...If I find the motivation to film it 😂

    A brilliantly relaxed vlog mate, love the sitting on rocks taking it all in and telling us the ‘why’s and how’s’. A great tuition with beautiful scenery all in one. Gonna get our first frost tonight so the autumnal explosion will begin, well for the leaves left on the trees after the weekend storms that is. Great to have you back on the screen, take it slow and easy and enjoy what you clearly are very good at James❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏😂🤓📸👍

    I greatly enjoyed your video James, even the b-roll displayed all of the colorful scenes of the season. The trees may have still retained much of the summer green, but the leaves on the ground showed the unmistakable signs of autumn.Thank you for this marvelous video, besides being informative, it was inspiring.

    Nice captures James! And fantastic location! Are you happy with the Z F4s? Eventually going mirrorless and questioning the need for both the 24-70 and 14-24 at 2.8...both of which seem to be sharper but expensive and more bulk and weight. DXO Mark has given less than favorable reviews of the F4s but for landscape, I would rather go for the lighter package as you have.

    • @JamesBrewphoto
      @JamesBrewphoto  2 года назад

      Thanks David. Very happy with the F4's. Keep in mind that most of these lens performance tests are comparing the lens performance at their wider apertures. Stop the F4's down and the difference to the 2.8's narrows. The 14-24 is probably worth getting if you want to do astrophotography but the 24-70 2.8 is pretty pointless for landscape shooting IMO.

    • @JamesBrewphoto

      Thank you! That really depends on the scene. With the first shot I focused on the foreground waterfall. The other two I focused in the midground of the scene approximately.

    Lovely images James, particularly liked the last. Due to the exceptionally warm September there has been a lot of sugars built up in the leaves of deciduous trees, this is delaying Autumn colour by a couple of weeks but general consensus is that it will be spectacular when it arrives. Birch, Beech and Chestnut have turned but the Oaks are still very green everywhere 🍂🍁

    • @JamesBrewphoto
      @JamesBrewphoto  2 года назад

      Thank you! Really depends on the scene. With the first shot I just focused on the foreground waterfall. The second and third shot I focused on the midground of the image approximately.

    I remember going to a gorge similar to this during august and ... the best opportunities where always a preacrious scramble downwards trough deep water that was nearly deeper than my boots high xD ... its a lot of fun to shoot (and cleaning the polarizer keeps you busy all the time) - What i learned from it, i had some nice lighting going on because i was there already in the later afternoon - but it was always a dice roll when i saw a location and set up my camera. By the time i was ready, a cloude covered the sun or something like that.
    If id find time i want to go there again when its overcast, it makes shooting a lot easier in terms of conditions - you dont need to rush to capture something.
    Greate video again and evertime i see your videos it reminds me that i need to get myself some work/hiking boots that i dont mind to get dirty :D - ok and i need new rubber boots, accentaly bought the wrong ones with steel caps... well if a tree falls on me, my toes are safe... xD

    Some great images. Funny I'm noticing that the autumn colours also seem delayed here in Ontario, Canada as well. We have had a very wet, warm October.

  • @CultureAgent
    @CultureAgent 2 года назад +1

    It really is a strange autumn. I've got flowers still in bloom on my balcony, including sweet pea, French marigolds and cornflower. Leaves are still green in many of the local trees. You would expect this in S.England, not W. Scotland.

  • @robertspeicher5047
    @robertspeicher5047 2 года назад

    I may be a bit in error. But color in the trees depends on amount of rain ; too much rain or not enough can affect the color as does temperatures. Longer period of warm air has an affect..In America, north east, I've seen some autumns that were spectacular and some years total "blah" and it is the weather. Might global warming have an affect?

    • @JamesBrewphoto
      @JamesBrewphoto  2 года назад

      I suspect climate change will be affecting this - tempretures are staying warmer longer after the summer than they usually would, I'd expect this to delay the Autumn colours

    James, just curious, I picked up a Z6 for mostly video on your recommendation and so far it's AWESOME! I was wondering if you would mind sharing what picture profile your using with it for your videos. They look great! Everyone says flat with easy color grading, but I'd rather not color grade if I can help it. I have found flat to be a bit "flat." LOL I was thinking of trying Natural. Any help or thoughts would be great! Thanks!!

    • @JamesBrewphoto
      @JamesBrewphoto  2 года назад +1

      I don't bother with colour grading - too much effort. I'm just using the straight out of camera standard footage. They key is good lens - I'm shooting with 35mm 1.8 S 👍
