Re-enacting Retro - This is a very well-done, classic older National Park Service Museum film, and featuring the excellent mounted artillery crew at Petersburg NBP. Looks to be late 1970s.
We hope you enjoy. This is another in a series of postings on our RUclips channel of a cool New series of Old videos -- featured only on here -- taken from a personal collection of re-enacting films and videos from the 1980s that can't be found anywhere else, or else we've tried to find them for nostalgia's sake, but did our own digging and presenting the results of our treasure hunt here. Some are taken from VHS originals or DVD transfers from those VHS copies. Originals were in Standard Def or Videotaped off of TV when they first aired. Some shot professionally and others by individuals with "portable" home video cameras on their shoulders.
Some Classic Re-enacting videos are already searchable on RUclips, but we wanted to start a new series of some rarely or never before seen classics that either only aired once or where short lived and available only to a select few at the time. We hope you enjoy. These programs presented in this RE-ENACTING RETRO series are presented for the enjoyment of all and we don't claim them for ourselves.

Actually, the man running the ammunition to tye canon woudl either run backwards or put the round in a sack given to him, and put it behind him while transporting it, so if the soldier gets hit, the round isn't hit, resulting in an explosion

Notice that the rammer has his hand on the underside of the shaft as he slams the shot home.

Yup, never hold onto that beast firmly or you may be minus a hand one day

And that he only uses one hand. All my toy soldiers use both hands...maybe they're pulling the rammer away?

Ok but the man carrying the round, does nobody know this? 😢 I'm in the 21st Indiana artillery company, and this is always pushed the very first time

Looks easy with no counter battery fire.. Much harder in real combat. The union loved to knock out reb cannon.
