I'm sorry to hear about the shoulder... Just thinking about your comment for more surgery, I bet your subscribers would love to hear from you "with or without your riding... You could update on your surgery, update on your favorite kit, bike maintenance, biker scran (even if you don't ride) just chatting with the guys... Don't go radio silent, we'll miss you :). In a manly kind of way!!

As a 51 year old southerner, I can't recall another winter so endlessly wet and miserable. I know we're well used to it in the UK, but we've had low pressure over us since October which even for us is exceptional. It really has been utterly awful. Sorry to hear the shoulder is still bad - double (or is that treble) misery. Really hope you get a result with it soon.

Hey man, if you do have to take a few weeks off, just make some videos about gear and such. Another great video here where you just talk about what’s on your mind. I mean bike reviews are great, but we get to know more about you and where you are over there and what it’s like over there. A lot of us Americans will probably never see this stuff even if we were to visit Britain. Just probably the tourist stuff. With videos like these, we get a tour, so to speak, and I love it. I was in Spain from 92-97 in the Air Force and I always loved to just ride around and explore the Country and my kids loved hearing about it. Wish I had a bike camera back then so I could have shown them what it was like. This is great! Still adding you to my prayer list for your shoulder. Get well soon!!

The Diavel has never really appealed to me, plus it's so expensive, I just think there are far better choices for fun to be had. I can relate to the depression when unable to ride. So far we have had 3 false starts to spring, each time temps dropping to below -25C, plus snow again after it warms up again. Last week I had a long drive home, every road was closed after I joined it, blowing snow, blizzard conditions, 1.5'-2' of soft wet snow. It was so bad that the journey took 2.5 extra hours over normal and I had to pull 4 different families out of deep snow and a couple of ditches, there were cars and trucks strewn everywhere. Usually my mood starts improving, after the sun is out for a few days, I can smell spring and I begin to get excited for my first ride of the season, then more crap weather and spring seems so far away again, it's a roller-coaster. Sorry to hear the shoulder is still farkled, hopefully take 2 will give you some relief 👍

I ride my DL650 Vstrom every day for work, and whilst it's "alright" I really regret chopping in my 390 Duke for it and wish I had a time machine to reverse the decision. That said, still have the 900LC to cheer me up til I pay the finance off on the Strom. Decent bike, but not for what I need from a commuter/tourer (too big/heavy) Hope the shoulder recovers mate, everything crossed for you Andy.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder and that you did not get more the on the Diavel. I have one and last year as part of my own recover from cancer treatment that meant I lost 18 kilos I decided to reclaim myself, or die trying, by buying and riding mine around Europe for 4 weeks. I did 3,265 miles and stayed in 20 places. All I can say is, I love this bike. Ok, the panniers are small and when it rains they seem to capture all the water, so dry bags next time. Oh and Provence in the rain, that back tyre is lethal. No choice of any type of better all weather tyre.
13th of May I’ll be back in Blighty starting my solo road trip to Cappadocia, Turkey and back.
Keep the videos coming, very enjoyable. Whilst I capture mine I’m crap, but they will be memories for my two sons.

Speaking of being blinded by the Sun, where I live, in the weeks just before winter, and for a few weeks in the spring, because the Sun is low in the sky, you often get the Sun right in your eyes, which I hate. When blinding sun is combined with a 30 km/hr headwind on the highway, that's brutal.

Only 30-45 minutes of riding at a pop is a bummer. Hopefully the second procedure on your shoulder will do the trick.
My foot recovery is normally progressing so I have returned to riding without a time limit. Soon, I am going somewhere on an overnighter. Possibly New Mexico and Arizona in May before my nephew's wedding. I am also going to ride to Savannah, Georgia to visit an aviation museum.

I know, holidays abroad and that’s been our bag with bike hire (Singapore was great fun). Sad to hear about your shoulder - just get it fixed, Andy. I got my right shoulder pinned almost twenty years ago - and touch wood - I haven’t had a problem since, aside from initial physio to get range of movement back. Anyway good luck with it. Hi TMF. A thought about the coming surgery: Can it be an idea to keep producing the same amount of videos per week until the surgery but, as from very soon, publisize only one per week? Considering how good your videos are, it would be great to see a video once a week instead of the radio silence concept. Once successful recovery is achieved, "normal services can be resumed" (as TMF often says.. ;-) )

If you can’t ride, how about getting a guest ride, if the insurance is a problem, how about asking subscribers if they would be interviewed about their bikes, just to fill in till you recover.
Regarding Ducati off road bikes, I was given one while my Diaviel was in for lts many warranty problems.
Threw a leg over from the pavement, no probs.

I thought the sound on the new cameras is quite good now. It's a bugger about the op not being a success so hopefully it is sorted the next time. In the mean time can Mrs Flyer ride your bixe as a learner with you on the pillion like a passenger in a car with a learner? Not all of them as I would guess the Goldwing would be to big!

I watched everyone of your Japanese videos and found them fascinating but as you said perhaps to far away to be achievable for most of us. Living in West Lancashire near the sea we've had virtually no snow but being surrounded by flat farming land we've had plenty flooded fields. The worst Ducati, in fact the only Ducati, I've ever owned was a 450 single in the eighties with a kick start which nearly broke your ankle and electrics that could be described as a joke.

I'm so glad you had the chance to ride the Ducati Diavel V4 again. I love the design, the 4 pot missile launcher style exhaust, the rims design and of course that amazing engine. I'm not a fan of naked bikes, but the Diavel V4 and the new 1390 KTM Super Duke definitely tick all the boxes for me look wise. Not cheap, but there's nothing out there that looks like it. The Triumph Rocket 3 maybe another, but that's just a monster! Cheers

I have shoulder issues too (gym related as I am younger) I am avoiding surgery because I know I will lose my two main hobbies and risk it getting worse! Going to get some good tours in first before I risk anything, and just keep doing rehab.
