Good video. To be specific, each additional x up or down means equivalent to that of a hook that many sizes larger or smaller. That is, a size 14 3x long has a shank length 3 hook sizes larger, so it would have the shank length of a standard size 8 hook. A size 14 1x short is as long as a standard size 16 shank. A size 14 2x heavy has the wire thickness of a standard size 10 hook.
Pretty much what I was going to say. Also; since there is no industry-wide standard, I might clarify that to be compared to the "standard" hook of the same style (scud, streamer, dry fly, etc.) by the same company.
