  • We have been playing with these Razor MX500 Electric Dirtbikes for a month or 2 now. We have done a handful of mods, and as you might expect - the internet has tons of opinions but not much data to back it up… So check out these 3 bikes we upgraded with some popular power upgrades.
    -Rider is 185LBS
-Each bike was fully charged before the run
    -Slightly up hill
    -All runs done consecutively
    Bike 1 - totally stock 36V Razor MX500
Bike 2 - 48V eBay Overvolt kit with Amazon extra 12V SLA battery
Bike 3 - 48V 20AH Lithium Ion Battery, 1800 Watt Vevor Motor & Vevor Controller
    Impressions:
-The stock bike was a hoot, we do mostly inside circle racing in our warehouse to blow off steam during work. But outside terrain can really slow you down and top speed really isn’t there. For a child’s toy, they hold up great to abuse. We have even jumped these off the loading dock lol
-The 48 OverVolt kit is an AWESOME mod for the money. Total investment is about $100 for the kit, battery, and charger. The controller is decent quality, fitting the 4th battery and wiring things up isn’t difficult, just a little tedious. This mod really woke the bikes up and certainly increased the fun factor. If you are on a budget -this is a great choice.
-The 48V Volt Lithium + 1800 Watt Vevor Motor and Controller is NEXT LEVEL. This setup makes globs of power over a stock bike. This setup runs about $400 for battery, motor, controller, and throttle. The lithium battery also makes the bike much lighter than the bike is with all the SLA batteries in it to make 48V. The major issue with this setup is that the controller is super lazy. It is jerky off the start, then takes a good bit of time to fully deliver the power. Top speed is fantastic though! Even with a 320LB rider.

    37.5amps running 20ah battery=0.533hours or run time.
    30.5mph for 0.533hours=16.266miles~.
Doing math, I want to build one but more efficient.. great build tho!
More power does sound fun tho..

      Ordered my parts, going with a 1000w motor/controller 48v, 48v battery/20ah.
      I’m hopeful I’ll get 30miles! I just want distance 🤞🏻

Have you done anything with the brakes?

The lithium bike has hydraulic mountain bike brakes, complete setup with rotors is less then $100 and direct bolt on. I'm 300+ lbs and can now do stoppies on the bike (short ones of course) but the brakes are strong enough to throw me over the bars
