      Jesse Starner actually I never understood why so many Rush fans depreciate this song. It’s a typical Rush straight to the “riff” song, catchy and tight, with some melodic synths lines to punctuate it. Always loved it and always loved the whole album due to some reasons. To me it reminds me cold and snowy winters. It’s great to get back to that time every time I listen to it. 👍😍

    • @trenken

      This whole album is so weak sounding because of the empty lame production by rupert hine. Horrible producer choice for a hard rock band known for their power. He sucked the life out of them on presto and roll the bones. These songs are better live.

    • @trenken
      @trenken 5 лет назад

      Michele Bravin my guess is that its kind of a little goofy and the soft rock chorus isnt exactly what youd expect from a hard rock band, especially the band that put out stuff like 2112 and moving pictures. They were getting way too light for people at this time. I remember people wondering wth they were doing with some of these albums

    • @apieceofdirt4681
      @apieceofdirt4681 5 лет назад +1

      Tim Renken Thankfully Counterparts was only one more album away. I like HYF, PW and GUP but I agree, Presto is kinda thin. Their live sound from TFE to 2015 was horrible IMO. Neil switched over to those godawful DW drums and started working with Freddie Gruber. Talk about sucking the life out of someone, Freddie took a powerhouse like Neil FuckingPeart and convinced him there was a jazz drummer inside of him!! He wasn’t the same after. TFE is the weakest RUSH album drum wise that I’ve heard and Vapor Trails sure as hell wasn’t any better. Snakes & Arrows was better but his drum parts were no longer creative. I still bought their merchandise and went to all of their concerts but I was hoping they’d maybe shake each other and get back to the RUSH everyone knows them for. That never happened. If I could change 1 thing about RUSH’s past I’d completely take Freddie Gruber OUT of the picture!!

    • @steviemac2377
      @steviemac2377 5 лет назад

      @@apieceofdirt4681 Dude his DW's were always terrible sounding. Yea i agree he wasn't the same after he started studying with Gruber and other musicians. Played a lot more relaxed and refined where Even Geddy and Nick Raskulinecz both have mention that they had to kinda poke at him to do more. That's why on A Clockwork Angels, Nick Raskulinecz literally was in the room with him with a drumstick like a conductor so their would be more energy in the recording. I think he was just done being a drummer a long time ago but just kept going because Geddy and Alex didn't want to stop plus it's kinda hard to turn down that kind of money at the same time

    • @kennethtilton6137
      @kennethtilton6137 5 лет назад

      When Neil studied with Freddie Gruber, the things he was changing was technique, like his grip on the drumsticks. He said most people couldn't even pick up on the change, but Alex and Geddy could because they heard it every night, and it just made his playing flow more naturally.

    • @crimfan
      @crimfan 4 года назад +2

    • @russbeardsley6732
      @russbeardsley6732 6 лет назад +10

      On the album version of superconductor, Alex's part is actually the producer, "rupert hine".
      Also the subdivisions part that alex sings live was actually peart in the studio!!
      Neil was actually quite prolific with his occasional voice overs.............the howling posse in witch hunt, the necromancer narrator, the new york guy intro of camera eye and the london accent guy in the same track before the guitar solo(neil actually lived in london for a few years pre rush fame!!), but arguably, his most legendary voice was the "attention all planets.....2112 finale!!".
      Im not sure If neil did the "roll the bones" rap,but if he did, he ought to keep that one quiet......
      A lot of people think neil did the intro of cygnus x1 but that was terry brown the producer.

    Alex playing keyboards! HAHAHAHA! And the look on his face when he was doing it! I saw them the same year in Philly, Alex was walking around the keyboard while playing it backwards, it was hysterical. You can tell he's not a fan of the instrument but made it into a joke in true Lifeson style, it was awesome.

    imo during this era was one of the era where I thought they played their best. One day I think they should release a Presto Live Album, if it its available. 1987-1992, and 1978-1981 is where I think they played their best live. One of the more underrated Rush songs, along with Red Tide, and Available Light.

    However Alex achieved the guitar tone here, I honestly think it suits Superconductor perfectly, it’s thicker and dirtier than what’s on the Presto album, and that delay activated at 1:07 is one of my favorite moments

    My very first Rush album. Before it, I never heard their music, just references to how great they were. My first impression was that it was very jazzy and intelligent, that maybe I didn´t have the brains or the experience to understand them yet. I was discovering Metallica, Faith No More and Guns n´Roses in those days, and that kind of music was more direct or approachable to me. I loved Presto but thought it was too mature or intelligent, and I wasn´t ready for Rush in those days. I really got into them later, with "Roll the Bones".
    RIP Neil Peart...

    Such a shame we don't have an official live release from that era...(Presto and Roll The Bones) Presto is by far my favourite Rush album. It was a perfect balance of many elements. They also fixed the audio thing with the remaster. We've got Vapor Trails (both versions) and Rush in Rio to complain about bad mixing/mastering...

    My first time hearing anything from the band in 1990 and I like this. Was one of the "Olde Rush" fans, and didn't pay much attention after Signals. They sound harder here. The time changes are all Rush though. Need to take another look. Thanks for posting Snowdog!

    The 90s era for Rush is one of my favorites. Presto is definitely top 3 for me. Roll the Bones to Test for Echo was an awesome stretch of albums for the band.
