Claire, about the curling: put the uv lamp higher up for the first 1-2 cycles. Make sure to use an aluminium foil hood or something to cover the lamp for protection. The heat is making the clay curl. Reducing the heat by increasing the distance between lamp and resin solves the problem. 👍 Then another cycle or however many you want to make sure (i know you like to be extra safe 😉) with the lamp in its normal position. Love the lil cassette tapes 💛🧡
Most of us that use polymer clay bake at 275 for 1 hour. I have found in the past that resin will pull up / shrink around the edges if there is too much. I also dump all of my pieces in an ice cold bath for a minute after they come out of the oven to stop any prolonged baking. Hope that helps.
I graduated in the early 80’s, and I FEEL your nostalgia Claire, and I LOVE these! I’ve not gotten into resin yet, but think I’m going to have to after watching all of your videos!
I think the stamp would make great earrings using shrinky dinks. Maybe you could stamp the clay without ink just to get the outlines and trace it before backed or after.
They turned out alright. Not my favorite colors but I do love the design. I think I'd be curious how the stamp would hold up to embossing powder though. Black ink before baking and then clear ink with silver embossing powder over it after baking might give an interesting effect, I think, if you can line things up properly. 🤔 ...Or you can try reverse stamping. Stamp the clay deeply without ink (just a spritz of water) and then lightly rub the raised area with some mica powder on your finger or ink the raised area after baking. Painting the stamp with mica powder (dry or wet) and then stamping into the clay also works. There's a lot you could try, honestly. 🤷🏻♀️ I think the problem you're having with the polymer clay curling up is simply due to how hot UV resin gets while it's curing. Because of that, even though the clay was baked, applying heat to it again will always soften it again. With the way UV resin tends to shrink while curing it's sticking to the clay, heating it up and pulling it along while it shrinks all at the same time so you get curled pieces. The only way to fix that is to get a clay that needs a higher temperature to bake or do a very thin layer of resin first, then the thicker finish coat, sorta like you do with washi tape so you don't see the edges. BTW, it's easier to cut precisely around stamped images if you pop the clay in the freezer for a few minutes first. FIMO Soft is just too soft. If you can get it, try Sculpey PREMO clay instead. Good luck! 😅👍
I reckon white ink would look lush on the coral. Neon clay tapes though...Those would be beyonddddd! I love those tapes,I'd wear them as earrings with a matching pendant 😊 xx
I might be biased but I like the coral with the darker ink. They reminds me of some of my favourite mix tapes in my early teens. As for the bendy bit it's most likely the heat from the uv curing that's re-softening the clay combined with a bit of shrinkage.
Yes, I hear you. The black overpowers the color. A faded look I think would be if you stamp a piece of paper first, then the clay. There would be enough residual ink on the stamp to give you that faded look. Also maybe leaving a border of clay around the stamp would pop more color than trimming right to the stamp image. Even 2 mil. They already too big for earrings so adding a bit more around the edge wouldn't make a lot of difference there. Fridge magnets would be cool. Claire you can get poly clay in all the neon florescent colors if you wish 😛😁
Green and pink with white stamp maybe? I don't remember having too many black cassettes maybe that's the issue 🤔 the stamps fairly realistic and not as abstract as the ones you drew before. Idk they're cool though id definitely wear them as earrings hehe x
Claire, I love his video. Agree about yellow, which to me, is upbeat and happy. Corals make me feel blah and melancholy. I definitely would make keychains from these. ❤
Another gorgeous restro creation from polymer clay this time, love the silicon stamps, the clay colors are also beautiful 💜💜. Really love this retro creation 💕💕
I'm mostly ever used Fimo Soft, because it's readily available here, and I can tell you that it bends when you put UV resin on it. I assume it's the combination of the heat during resin curing, and shrinkage of the resin. If you want the pieces to stay flat, you might want to use epoxy resin - or make the polymer pieces thick enough not to be able to bend. I do like the yellow and black combo, but what might also be a fun thing to try, is stamping the clay without ink, and then using mica or soft pastel on the intendation to get a more organic look. Or, bake the pieces and use acrylic afterwards. Just because it's a stamp, doesn't mean you need to use ink.
Definitely prefer the yellow over the coral. Yes, they would make adorable key chains & frig. magnets. Thanks Claire. Hope you throughly enjoyed your weekend
Ohhh,I missed the premier. Today's polymer clay creations are a stunner,Ms Claire 😍😍.The clay colors are beautiful 😍, the casette print stamp is so cute, the keychains look awesome 💜💜💜
I feel like the colored clay was a bit much and some of the prints were quite dark so if you will stamp off some of that ink before stamping it on whatever you are using it will look a lot better. I think they would be great on a white or clear background vs colours due to my memory of those tapes they usually came in white black or clear. but I do love the little tapes! Idk if you even read the comments I leave because I never get a response from you 💔 and I adore you and always try to give positive upbeat feedback because I want to be helpful or inspire you in some way. I know you get tons of comments so I get not always responding but asking us questions about things and you not responding when we answer them really makes me feel like what's the point in commenting at all.. I'm not trying to be mean because I do know that you have a ton going on but those replies makes us feel connected to you. I'm saying all this with love so if you do read this please don't take it as a judgement or anything like that, we just love hearing back from you. Much love sweet girl 😘💖✨
I love them all they look great !! I wonder how hard it would have been to take out the holes *where you put the pencil in to wind the tape* ? Would that have distorted the clay ? They would make great magnets, needle minders, keychains etc. Yellow looks best. Actually the 80's was 30 years ago not 10 Claire lol
I like them both but I agree the yellow is my preference. I'm an 80's girl thru and they. Graduated h s. 1987 my best years spent in the 80's. Maybe use a stazon marker to ink your stamp less boldly??
I've definitely seen this happening for me with uv topcoating on polymer clay. I'm no expert, but I suspect that it's because of the natural contraction of the resin as it cures. Polymer clay needs to retain some flexibility to ensure it doesn't become brittle and snap easily. But if the curl bothers you a lot, you could bake the pieces that you want to top with resin for longer, just so they are less likely to curl with the uv, as the resin will help their stability anyway. Much love!! ❤
The stamps didn’t fully print because they they were brand new. Brand new stamps need to be conditioned before their first use. You can just rub your fingers over the surface of the stamp and they should be good to go. These turned out great though and look like that’s how they were meant to be ❤
I m only new to UV resin and I think the curling up could be the heat from the lamp maybe I have found I have had that happened if I put my lamp too close to piece straight up to set got too hot I think with thermal reaction ??? Not really sure but I think that’s what happened to me . Either way I think those cassettes look great 👍🏽

You should try the stamp on the shrink plastic, just use the same Stax-On ink...they'd make cool earrings or charms. Enjoy Makers Central
Doing this and then putting them in a resin tray with a neon backing would look cool too!
This is what I was thinking!!!

love cassettes and I did used to record off the radio to and yes the 80s was 10 years ago im not old im retro !

I think they’re lovely Claire, I do prefer the yellow ones, but that’s my preference. I hope you had a lovely weekend at the makers . Thank you x❤
I like the yellow too! I think a neon blue and green would pop nicely!

Retro colors would be great! Mint green, ocean blue etc
Definitely the yellow is my favorite. Would be great as a shrinky dink. Lol❤❤
so cool Claire and yes like you said ‘clay is so therapeutic’ couldn’t agree more ❤
Hi there! Love your channel too lol
@@Kera.S. amazing 🤩 thank you

Resin can do that on clay. So a thinner layer is better. I use Sculpey Premo, Souffle, Fimo, and Cernit. Anything else is play clay. Cute idea!
Yellow ones look best but I really like both of them. Faded ink look the best. So cute.❤❤
Claire, I love his video. Agree about yellow, which to me, is upbeat and happy. Corals make me feel blah and melancholy. I definitely would make keychains from these. ❤
Yellow is definitely better I think, was very nice to meet you earlier today at Makers, I was the subscriber with Tracey
Love these as key rings. They came out so cute, Claire. Hope you had a blast at M.C., and that you get your bed situation sorted out. 🛌

I think they are cute. Good key rings and fridge magnets.
There lovely. Definitely the yellow pops more ❤

How very cool you found a stamp of a cassette! Thank you!
Definitely magnets , maybe put 2 on 1 piece of clay make a book mark obviously with thinner clay ,maybe use fabric inks and put on tote bags etc

Happy to relive old memories ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They are very cute Ty for sharing
I would embed the stamp without ink and then use mica powder over the raised design.....it's a cute stamp......you can do a lot with it 😁
Love them! If you prefer a lighter ink after you ink your stamp. Stamp it on a piece of paoer before stamping the clay.
Super cute❤

Sounded like a cheesy 80s song - 'are you feeling what I'm feeling?' @8:30. I like the ones where the ink is a bit more faded. Very COOL!!

Totally agree…. I think the black takes over… that being said, they are cute!!
It looks like the colors faded in the oven
Awesome. Have 🎉you tried stamping with stayzon onto shrink plastic yet?
@@butwhytho4858 I'd forgotten too but Claire did do a video on that about a year ago :)

Tengo que sacar otra vez mi arcilla, empecé con la resina y la dejé a un lado
I like the yellow best. And I wonder why you couldn’t cut your shape of cassette bake it and then stamp it and resin over it?
Thanks. I appreciate your answer.
🎉🎉
👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻🤩
👍
I think there cute but u draw them better x
Don't know. 🙂
