    Fightland went to Havana to check out the only mixed martial arts gym in Cuba. The Cuban government hasn't legalized MMA for fear of losing its best boxers, so the fighters on coach Evelio Padron Ferrier's team wrestle on concrete floors, use the ocean for endurance training, and practice techniques pulled from memory and bootlegged DVDs.

      +Bobby Tex what he's trying to say is that living in america you can be trained at any gym, because we have money..i, myself, was from laos, but now living in america sine i was 6 yrs old...i was given the opportunity to get an education to better my life as everyone else while other country has to pay their own way to get an education.

      +leon scott The problem is the technique is very bad and the training isn't something that will help them be better fighters. This is coming from someone who has trained in MMA since 08.

      +FPV-Master ......really?....really? damn man lol i don't even think that is you'r real photo. lmao it's clear that you don't care of anything but yourself. and i think you must not have any black friends cuz they wouldn't take your bull shit justification of why you refer to black pple as you do. one of if the the oldest bones have been found in africa (dumbass) most of culture that pple draw inspiration from are from black pple (fuck nut) see you the type that met like 3-4 black pple didn't like what you saw and chose to be racist based off your small sample size. like i said fuck you and what you stand for....which isn't much

    • @kingcelius87
      @kingcelius87 8 лет назад +2

      +FPV-Master if that's you great, but your mindset is what's sad, I'm guessing white, not sure. I'm sure you'll tell me in some "superior" fashion. but thats not the point. there are pple from all different races that you won't like (including you're own) you need to enlighten yourself and be level headed. this mindset is limiting, if you're a fighter you might be cutting someone out that can make you better because of their race? are you Kidding me? be better

      Good.... I hope people don't spend useless time in shits like MMA and these. We don't have enough resources in this world for these exclusive gyms, the third world countries don't have enough steel to make bridges and industries yet you find luxurious gyms across America having so much steel in their weight lifting equipments and etc. If people want to become slim then the government should rationalize their food, Americans consume way too much, more of their share. Fuck Em. Fuck this useless shit MMA it has no practice in the real world, In modern warfare and even in ancient warfare. I hope fidel castro banned this bullshit before he died. Fuck Gyms and fuck all these MMA Bullshit.

    Few things that I love about Cuba:
    -Birth of Guaracha that later became Salsa
    -The old cars that to this day still run like tanks
    -How the people find ways to move up and on in life with very little
    The one thing I do not get is, why do they want to represent Cuba so much yer they can not do anything with their lives unless they went to another country? If they love Cuba so much, then they should change Cuba and truly make it a paradise for them selves instead of living under such dictatorship

      Well, prisoners in American jails get free healthcare too, but they don't have the freedom to travel. Or decorate their cells, or wear the clothes they want, or follow their own hobbies, ect, ect. U.S health-care system could use some improving. I'm not opposed to that. But why not a more efficient healthcare system AND the freedom to travel? Why does Cuba try to control everything so tightly?

      Graham Van Dyke Oh really. You have trained "MMA"... so what does that mean? Could mean anything. And sure, some of them have bad technique, but I bet you they don't anymore - this was filmed like what, a few years ago? Everyone has bad technique to start with. It's the guys there who are there doing it that get to make judgements, not the other way round. There is a famous quote about it; I can't be bothered to find it right now, but it basically means that you are there doing it then you can pass judgement, if not then shut up because you aren't doing it yourself.

    MMA technique is improvised, but dude go to any Cuban judo, wrestling or boxing gym, they'll beat the shit out of any in the world that's for sure, they just need a proper trainer to introduce proper MMA, as this sport is more than the sum of its parts. In the past, Cuba introduced judo through the best masters there were in the world, as well as with other martial arts. It all depends on the government willingness to invest in the sport. All those who are not Cuban here offending us are either idiots or trolls or most probably both y en buen cubano: me resingo en la madre de los que ofenden a los cubanos humildes que estan en la lucha para salir adelante.

Puedo asegurar que las cámaras los pusieron nerviosos a todos y por eso están haciéndolo todo mal. Conozco a cada uno de ellos, un mexicano, otro argentino y un venezolano, no todos son cubanos. People of course can have private business now and big company(My aunt works for a beds and sofa company from Spain that's in Cuba)Car dealers are starting now before had to buy cars in a street system now its 100% legal phone companies are starting in 2 months you will be able to have internet at your home but have to pay of course(Now I can connect with all my family in Cuba they have pcs but no internet)After all people leave cause its still hard to live cause of the government which makes life hard to live unless you make lots of money if not believe me I would be in my house in Cuba not watching this video or writing this comment.Thank you (Cant wait to go to Cuba in few weeks miss everything)

And yes we do have the best doctor (why) they can do everything manually they don't need technology or computers and they use what you would say natural medicine herbs and remedies

      ***** Sorry, I don't buy your propaganda shit.
      In reality, Cuba has better medical system than many developed countries; Cuba is not rich, but it's not as bad as how American propaganda media say.

    • @LiveForPanda
      @LiveForPanda 10 лет назад +14

      ***** Why ask me? Do a 3 sec search on Google, you can easily find Cuba's achievement in medical science.
      Here is an examble who.int/features/2013/cuba_biotechnology/en/
      It's from World Health Organization, much more trustworthy than your anti-Cuba propaganda website.
      Again, I am not saying Cuba is perfect, I am not saying Cuba is communist heaven, What I'm suggesting is Cuba is not as bad as how media and people like you describe.
      There is plenty of information about the beautiful side of Cuba, and you keep picking the bad stories to criticize a country; you remind me North Korean propaganda, which reports American news as well, but they always choose the bad story from America.

    • @LiveForPanda
      @LiveForPanda 10 лет назад +9

      ***** The achievement of Cuba can be proved by plenty of resources. One of its medical achievement is shown in the link I gave to you.
      International organizations have recognized Cuba's achievement and development in many areas, and it seems like the US is the only country that is closed to Cuba and forbids its citizens from going there.
      As what I said, Cuba is not perfect, but it's not as bad as how you describe, people like you always exaggerate to negative side of Cuba byshowing "gloomy pictures". We all know Cuba is not rich, why the fuck would anyone think it's a developed country? But compare Cuba to other countries in the region, such as Jamaica and Haiti, I can say Cubans live in relatively better lives. They are not as poor and oppressive as North Korea, at least they aren't starved to death.
      Talking about Castro, was there any "democratically elected leader" before him? Was there any actual leader before him? At least Castro is better than the previous leadership which fucked up Cuba. Use your brain to think, if Cuban people hated Castro so bad and loved old government so much, why the revolution could take place and win?
      No one denies the fact that Cuba is not open enough, but my point is, it's not that bad.

    • @LiveForPanda
      @LiveForPanda 10 лет назад +7

      ***** "before Castro, it was one of the richest American countries per-capita and one that was still attracting European, Asian, Lebanese, and North American immigration well into the 1950s.'
      What a distortion of fact. Before revolution, Cuba was no better than today's Somalia. The only reason it could attract rich people from America and Europe was its treasonous government, which only served foreigners, not Cuban people. Why America loved old Cuba so much? Why Cuban people hated old Cuba so much? It was a heaven to rich foreigners, but it was a hell to most Cuban people, just like most African countries today. You can live like a king if you have tons of cash, but to most of its population, people live like dogs.
      Cuba is not that open compare to other Socialist countries, but it's much better than North Korea, a true fascist state which is only socialist in its name. To bad you don't know there are different forms of socialism. Both China and Vietnam are adopting market economy under sociliast political system, it's not "fascism". Most socialist countries are led by a bunch of communists, and it doesn't mean they are fascists. All those countries have several smaller parties that you don't know. Which country is becoming to fascist? Look at Washington.

    Very interesting story! These young cubans look like they are training hard and seem genuinely interested in fighting in the UFC as popularized through the world, particularly, USA. Although I don't think they're taking into account the spectacle that is MMA/UFC and how it's really not all its hyped up to be! Seems it's more of a personal journey for these fighters and their ambitions! They want the fame, cash, and hot chicks, I get it! So it's really a financial matter then right. So lift the embargo against Cuba! It's a cold war relic that the free thinking world is against except America and Israel. Lifting the embargo would change everything for these people! From the fighters we just saw to the cars and streets we were watching throughout the story! Heck, we do business with China and they are wild commies that are stealing from us left and right, why not get along with our socialist neighbors just 90 miles away from us? Is it really democratic to try to annihilate your neighbor simply because you disagree with them? Lift that cold war relic of an embargo and let's get some good rum and dance with some cute cuban ladies : )
    Peace!

    they are slightly delusional, they are sparring with good friends therefore their edge cannot get sharp, and what I've seen from their training, it seems too cozy. If they want to stand a chance at the MMA, they should be sweating bullets and take a real fight with someone they don't know.

    • @jcmwholetone800

      It seems to me they are doing what they can with what they have. It also seems to me that you are an ignorant individual because you do not realize this. And I would assume that, even though you don't know these people, your edge is quite dull compared to theirs.

      kid you dont know the first fucking thing about training mma do ya, you think just because they dont sweat like crazy that they arent getting results, holy shit you are a noob, this vid barely shows any of their training, they probably do sweat fucking bullet but you are to dumb to know cause you only see a few scenes that are like 10-20 seconds long, and it doesnt matter if they are good friends-their edge wont detoriate, when you train mma you become friends with the people you spar with so your case is worth shit, you need fucking training osssss

      its a documentary showing short parts of their training, how can you talk shit about their training if you haven't experienced it yourself, when training your own skills would increase overtime-as you train your skills evolve so ur argument about sparring partners is crap, its not true for every sport, so instead of talking shit y don't you do some trainingt yourself then fuck off, when you get there plz fuck off again, keep fucking off until you get back then fuck off some more- good day
