  • We continue the experiment with making carpet on Ashford Rigid Heddle loom.
    My little assistant Tart the Cat is helping me with plain weave and sumakh stitch on carpet edge. Also you will learn to place a second, glue weft for the carpet

    I learned this as a hem stitch on another channel. Thanks for bringing rug making into my life :)

      Hem stitch is different, it requires a needle and goes into the already woven cloth.

    I truly admire the lady's ability to patiently weave such intricate work. I am unable to sit still that long nor do such repetitive actions.

    Hi, I'm Carlos from Argentina, first of all thank you for showing us your work, in addition to congratulating you for your work. You could make a video of how you are putting together the whole loom, until you get, To the first steps of the fabric. Thanks, hug from Argentina.

    Just found your channel and am awaiting the arrival of my first loom. I've been wanting to weave for 30+ years. What size dent are you using in your heddle and what size is your warp? Is this silk or wool? Thanks for sharing your work, I'd love to see you actually working on a design. Not sure how you transfer what you see on a design chart to these threads with no markings to help.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
    Were can I buy one of those metal reed beater brushs that beat down the warp? What is the name of it?

      You can search the web for "persian carpet repair tools", I've seen some small online shops selling it

    Can you please do me a video on how you add the cloth and paper strips in work ~ I can’t find one on how this is done ~ I’m a newbie to this

    • @HandicraftsAz

      There is no cloth or paper sttip in carpet, just a strand of thread attached to the loom for the first row. I will make another video, once I set the proper carpet loom

    I love your video , and I was wondering were I can buy your combs and needle knife .please put more videos like this

    • @HandicraftsAz
      @HandicraftsAz  6 лет назад +3

      you can use a wooden combs, that the loom makers supply, f.e. ashford, and with a hook, it will be cheaper to make it with a knife in a smith or lazer-cut in car body shops. They might have an equipment. I could place them om Etsy, but the ones that we have in local yarn stores are imported from Iran. I'm waiting for local supplies
