I’ll be honest, i skipped to QF penalties first. Love that you all talk openly, like we all do, on your podcast. Easy to listen to, relatable. I listen to alot of commentary so it’s refreshing to hear an athlete be real without being rude or fake, and very respectful to others ❤ and Adam is a gem, what a legend.

Another Great Episode Justin and Zac! CFV isn’t my home gym but it is my favorite place to workout and hang with people. Adam, the coaches, the community are all world class. I agree what you said about CrossFit because I like working out with a group of people. I started my CrossFit journey in 2018 and have not stopped doing it since then. Right now I’m taking a break because I just had lower back surgery but I will be getting back into when I’m all healed up. I love washing your RUclips videos and watching you as an athlete too.

I’m not really a math nerd, but…
try your math with 0.99, and you will easily see the basic flaw in the presentation
9.9- 0.99 gives you 8.91. if you increase the number of 9s , 10S-S gets closer to 9 but does not reach it.
The solution presented is just an approximation.
The confusion is that you don’t actually have a value for S. i.e., S is not “equal” to 0.99999…. But rather, the limit as the number of 9s in S tends toward infinity is 1…
or “ the limit of the sequence 0.9, 0.99, 0.999 and so on, is 1”
or you can use “the limit as S tends toward 1”.
Lots of ways to skin this cat, but Best solved with calculus or limit theorem
But a simpler way to look at is is
if 10S = 9.999… then S is less than 1
The degree to which S is less than 1 depends on the number of 9s
but this presentation is more accurate if you use the “limit as S tends toward 1”

I f'ed up someones rep count in QF Workout 2. Repeatedly. Something distracted me for a second, and I lost count on her burpees, and then it just got worse. She totally yelled at me and told me I was crazy. And I just sat there and took it, because she was right, and she had every right to be mad.

Example with 7s, if you multiply by 10, you have 10S - S = 9S, on the other side you have 7...., so you'd have S = 7/9 👍

I liked math in school, do I count as a math person?😂
As I see it, most intuitively think 0.(9)=1 is wrong because any finite number of 9s after a decimal point is always less than 1.
But 0.(9) is always bigger than any of those numbers. Meaning, any difference between 1 and the closest number it that you can imagine - 0.(9) is closer. What's the ultimate smallest difference? Zero. The difference between 0.(9) is the smallest imaginable - zero.
Or another example of a repeating decimal: 1/3=0.(3), infinite 3s, multiply both sides by 3 and you get 1=0.(9)
