Just pulled my Z6iii out of the box and the first thing I do whenever I unbox a new camera is to check out your channel for the best setup tips. Thanks, Matt for another great video!
At last!!! Someone giving a simple to understand instruction on how to set the camera to focus track, in video!!! VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!! 🙏🏻😊 Subscribing to your channel right now!!!
Your are wrong about the AF tracking sensitivity. I was having trouble with the Z6III camera, not being able to lock the focus on the subject as I gimbled in and out on them. As I got closer or farther from the subject, it would lose focus temporarily and then when you would finally stop, it would pulse a little bit. Raising the AF sensitivity all the way to one made it lock right on. now the auto focus is as impressive as Sony. Double check your settings. Great video! I’m a big fan.
I have seen multiple videos suggesting the same thing as this one here, but I noticed the same thing you mentioned and just tried what you said and the difference is huge. The thing is it depends on what you’re shooting. If you leave it on the highest setting, it will jump quickly between eyes or focus on someone’s shoulder in the foreground vs the main subject. I’m planning to added the AF setting to my custom menu for quicker access.
Hi! very useful video! Just one question: I want to apply the 180° rule in prores HQ 24 fps but I'm not able to set 1/48. The shutter speed only shows 1/40 and 1/50...how can I do it?
Cool Video! Have a different unrated question to this video. Shooting a social media video with my fx3. Shooting horizontal but editing in adobe PP for vertical video. Question is, can I shoot @ 60FPS and have audio match ok if I post to Instagram? I heard it defaults to 30fps. Thank you for your help!
Subject tracking or as mentioned in the vid, the full AF-F. Alternatively, you can connect to your phone and record video, you won't be able to correct WB while recording through phone app though.
hi, i have the z9. If I press on the screen for another af point. then it goes too fast for video. for example if I have a bride and groom, one of whom is standing one meter behind. When I want to change focus, it's so abrupt fast. Does not look natural when focus pulling, I have not seen a setting that can make this happen gradually.
Hi, I have a Z9 too. That's exactly what is shown in the vid. Reduce the focus tracking speed. Also, it works only after you to start recording, the focus tracking speed doesn't usually apply for preview. Works perfectly for me.
I think there are a lot of scenarios where you don’t want the camera shifting focus when the subject leaves the frame. Often true of people if they get obscured by an object temporarily. You don’t want the camera focusing on the background and then have to wait for it to pull back to the person when they reappear. Even more so with animals and especially birds when using long lenses. If the bird flies out of the frame, you don’t want to focus to drift out to infinity and then have to reacquire when the bird come back to its perch. More often than not, I want that setting turned off.
I wish I could map the OK button on my gimbal. It’s annoying when my Z cams lose what they’re tracking and I have to interact with the camera while it’s on the gimbal. And P.S., never use IBIS for handheld on a Z cam, it’s horrible. Turn IBIS off and add a bunch of weight to your rig.

I’m kind of confused between video AF and video AF tracking. Also what settings simply for photos AF? Thanks
How do I make it record & STAY focused on ME (solo) when I’m the one in front of the camera (8’ away) recording a product video
Subject tracking or as mentioned in the vid, the full AF-F. Alternatively, you can connect to your phone and record video, you won't be able to correct WB while recording through phone app though.
Awesome video , I have Z8 and want to shoot slow motion with of wildlife. Can you suggest best in camera slow motion setting . Thanks
The incam slo mo is recorded in 1080p, you could record at 120p in 2k or 4k and then slo it down in post. Hope this helps.
Thank you, need another video for still shooting :)

Do your planes fly so low there in America? Video shooting time is limited on this Nikon? How many megapixels are there?
