Thank you Хобби
perfect video! was scammed by a local plumber recently on a kitchen job so im keen to carry out my tap replacement myself this was just what i needed
By far the best video i've seen, straight forward, easy to understand and so explanatory. Just about to do mine and feel more confident now. Thank you.
Well done. A great video showing just what is required for most people. Thank you.
Brilliant Video!
Exactly what I needed to see thanks
Brilliant!
Excellent, thank you
Saving this for when the sealant gets here
This helped me a lot.
Brilliant video!!
Glad you liked it, thanks Kristin
I'm fitting one of these today 👍👍 enjoyed you video
fantastic Video - thank you I know I cant do this myself but it is always good to educate yourself and know exactly what you are paying for and hopefully find the right person for the job.
Random but i remember you for saab repair videos.....and here you are again. You never fail! 👊🏾 ❤️💛💚
Ha ha, that's correct. I'm a Professional Engineer and been DIYing all my life, including several house renos.
Be giving this a crack in the next couple of weeks as as absolute DIY novice, I think this video should just about do the trick for me
Brill video and very informative
Looks abit difficult might give it ago great video though
Very good video just asking what maker is the mixer taps
Top Dwog
I should probably pay you for this video. Same pipe size and arrangement, bath orientation and even looks like same replacement mixer. My house has had the taps since at least the 70s though.
I was not totally convinced I was getting the right flexis and was considering using some kind of speed fit but now I am confident
Awesome, so glad you found it helpful. Wierd coincidence though, our house is only 20 years old.

@@AbouttheHouse0 It is strange that your taps are swapped in relation to what the law says being a fairly new build. My plumbing is certainly pre-1972 as I discovered it has 3/4" pipe to the hot - so I had to get hold of some 3/4 olives.
When I actually came to look I found a few other problems though. Seems like I have less space and i have had to disassemble the waste from the basin which goes behind the bath too. Additionally the hot pipe to the tap has was covered in green/blue corrosion and bent in multiple locations less than perfectly (looks like the apprentice got this job) so fitting compressions on is going to be awkward. May have to replace section of the pipe entirely but getting tools and arms in position is a nightmare. Furthermore it seems like the weight of the pipes if being supported by the rigid tap fittings so I need to figure out an alternative support system before replacing with flexis.
From watching a few other videos, I would suggest always get a separate isolator (not built on to the flexi) as the flexi is often a point of failure which will need replacing. The 10 for £10 "balofix" isolators are not regarded in high esteem either for 2 reasons; they often dont work when you come to use them because the rubber seal fails - especially on hot lines and secondly they are narrow bore which will reduce the flow - which on a shower mixer thing might be noticeable if your pressure is already low. Full bore valves (and ideally with a handle) at least on the hot is the way to go.
After talking with colleagues at work, one told me of his story of having a shower and suddenly the shower going off then hearing water gushing. After calling a plumber, the cause was the hot flexi had corroded due to a tiny leak at the tap connection. Stories like that make me paranoid - as he said himself- it was lucky he was actually in the bathroom when it happened. He still had to run down and shut off the water at the mains - but makes me want to install non-concealed valves that can be turned by hand or even automatic shutoff valves! So inspect your flexis regularly for corrosion.
All good fun, eh?
The one thing you never done and should have was to use jointing compound around the olives, but apart from that a very good video with clear instructions
Hello about the house. i am doing this very job. I have 15mm pipe to 3/4 bsp tap tail. i want to use flexi hose and wonder if the diameter of the braided hose is crucial? i am looking at a 15 x 12 x 300 . many thanks for any help
I got into the house with the same mixer, if I turn on then shower works, how can I change the water flow to Tap from shower?
I find I have to use plumbers PTFE tape on connector threads, otherwise they always leak..why do you think that happens...I see you haven't needed to use tape.
If you don't cut the copper pipe and replace with a flex hose, will it still fit or could the threads on the new tap be too long?
Yes it should, but I wanted the in line valve
Can a women do this DIY, as I haven't got man to do it, watching to do it myself, could you list the material please
Sorry is there away to still have a bath as in set in the bath and have a bath not using the shower using the taps to run the bath?
YES, lift the connection between the tap heads to switch between tap or shower
How do you know the size of the pipes? Does it tell you what MM they are? X
In the UK (and I think across Europe) copper pipes are standard metric sizes of 10, 15, 22 & 28mm 👍
How much would a job like this roughly cost on the UK please. I've watched thecvideo and don't want to chance doing it by myself as I know I'll f it up big time 🤦🏼♀️
I'd say you're looking at £100 in labour, give or take some depending exactly where you are.
@@AbouttheHouse0 thankyou
Can anyone tell me how to turn on the shower 🚿😑
Did you find out as I can't use mine lol
I don´t understand why did you chose Mixer Tap with two separate valves. These things are obsolete (at least in my country). You can have Mixer Tap with one valve, with ability to gradually increase or decrease temperature of water with one lever.
I moved into a house with one of these and have no idea how to turn it on?!
Did you find out how to use? I am trying to find out
@@lizblair5752 nope never did I just have baths instead lol
I know this is a long time coming as i just watched this and saw your comment. What you do is see the bulb looking thing that is in between the taps with the shower hose connected it pulls up and pushes down. You (well with mine anyway) you push it down to divert the water to the shower head and pull it up to use the taps. What you might find is that it could be very stiff if you havent used it at all especially if there is limescale build up. There is a really strong descaler that you can get in gel to paint the base with if it is encrusted and it should move freely.
@@lizblair5752 Please see my explanation
These taps are rubbish I have used them a total waste of your money, spend double on a better ceramic thermostatic mixer and save long term.
