Nice one
I know this is an old video, but the amazon link doesn't seem to work. Is it still live?
What’s the name of the tool , you used to unscrew below the taps
Watched the vid, bought the circular spanner (£3) changed my basin taps in 5 minutes. Never done it before. Wife is still amazed👍
What about now, has the wife's novelty worn off yet?
Your a man now lol
Good to see Simon LeBon still does his own plumbing, and great informative video thanks.
I'm doing plumbing in college but I'm addicted to watching all these videos as it helped me pass with the highest grade , thank you so much :)

UPDATE from 3 weeks ago.
I followed your video instructions. You are an absolute star and I cannot thank you enough. God bless you.
I have changed the hot water tap in the bathroom sink by myself, shakingly obviously, but still did it.
I feel like a BOSS....next stop radiators...no just kidding.
Thank you! I did it! So empowering as a woman to be able to do this on my own. Saved me a bit too. xx
As a complete novice on plumbing I found this really useful. Knowing what specialist tools I needed particularly so. Thanks very much.
Great vid. Another job for super mum.... off to get some new taps as you have now made me feel confident that I can do this myself. Thanks.
No worries Liv! Good luck!
plumberparts hi, i need to change my hot water tap.is it the same procedure for hot water tap as well i mean isnt hot tap connected to gas or electricity wire which is the reason why water gets hot if you know what i mean?dont i need to turn anything off that makes the water hot for water water tap before i go ahead?it would be very helpful if you could reply me.thanks
I am utterly useless at DIY, however, just successfully changed two basin taps, and didn’t swear once!! Many thanks 😊😊
Brilliant video! Will be replacing my bathroom taps. Didn’t realise it’s so simple
Yet again I find myself watching one of your videos for help with a DIY project, thank you!
Thanks. That o-ring suggestion at the end saved the day 👍
No worries! Glad it helped you out.

Thank You for this nice time travel. I already forgot that somewhere in the world there are wash basins without the mixer. Two taps are nice vintage.
Wish I’d watched this first before getting stuck in without a tube spanned. Off to the shops I go!
Thanks for this. I'm about to go under my bathroom sink and replace the taps that have been there since 1952. It's a dark and scary place. I'm worried that the connections won't fit in place exactly and I'll end up with exploding nuts when I put the water back on. And I'm on my own so I'll only be able to tell when I've come back from the kitxchen when the big knob is so there's a three or four second time delay between me turning on the big nob and seeing if my nuts have exploded or not. And it's 11pm. Perfect timing. Pray for me. But your video did help. And you are cute too..
That was very useful. The hard part was getting the old taps off as a build-up of limescale under the basin made it close to impossible. I could have done with a tutorial on using the basin wrench. Thank you.
You're helping a lot of people who can't afford to pay plumbers. Thank you. You are doing great things Alhamdulilah.
Yes.Very helpful tips
@@fightermma wtf
We lose a lot of money by not knowing how to do the simple things.
@@fightermma🤨
Helps young people too like me. I never got shown how to do this and lots of people my age wouldn’t be at a stage where they care about doing stuff like this so it helps
Absolute money saver . My taps have been leaking for months , can’t get a plumber . I’ve done it myself , thankyou !!!
2:04 I love the slo-mo action shot
really nice simple, straight forward video. Thank you very much!
No worries Benjy! Glad to help mate! SUBSCRIBE! ➡️👉 ruclips.net/user/plumberparts 👈⬅️ IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY! 😎
Yay!!!!! Managed to change a tap!!! Thank you so much for saving me money! However, struggling with the right hand side tap because the base ring won’t budge - what can I do??! 🙁
Have used a number of your videos. You, sir, are a legend.
Ha! Thanks man. Tell my wife!
@@plumberparts we talk about other things 😂
Worked a treat and saved the £60 our plumber quoted! Huge thanks!
Cracking video Wallace... I was just looking for tips and you reminded me about those claw thingies. I'll be getting one before I get down on my creaky knees to change the taps. Adios amigo!
Thanks, this helped me to change my basin taps!
Thankyou I just managed to change my taps this evening 👍🏼
Good video to reinforce what I knew and what to do. Thanks
Genius. Thankyou. Who the heck downvoted this.
Elderly retired plumber helped me...I don't have much grip..on chemo meds affects hands...like ice rink.
Amazing work mate, helped me out and I'm a stranger to plumbing
Really helpful great vid managed to save a stack of cash by changing my own taps.
Whey! No worries doooooode! Glad to help you out!
super helpful :) thank you .. changing mine tomorrow :)
Yeah I have just done this for the very same reason; the old taps looked tired and manky and my mum was having issues gripping the old twist taps so lever taps did the trick. You don't mention it in your video but the braided flexi-pipe with built in shut off valve is a good addition whilst you have water off and everything apart. Obviously you will have to go to the main water stop cock and the job becomes a little more involved but with basic tools and common sense you can future proof the installation and make any future maintenance as easy as this video shows. Always worth lubricating the thread of the new taps with a dab of vaseline or something and watch you don't cross-thread the nut onto the tap....easy to do when you are holding with one hand, reaching with the other and can't see what your doing.
This was really helpful, thanks mate!
your video is concise and clear, very helpful.
Very helpful and easy to understand. Thanks so much.
So glad you are helping me ,can't afford a plumber,
Reattaching the cold water feed pipe is the most difficult bit!
Why to disconnect it in first place?
I'd appreciate your response as you're good at explaining.
Thank you. 🚰😊
This vid helped me tremendously...Thankyou
Great video, thanks. I’ll let you know how I get on. Wish me luck!
Always informative and helpful! Cheers!
Hold tight!
Thank you so much, you made that look so easy ...
Thanks. Tried using tap reviver kits for my old taps but they are beyond saving. Going to completely replace them tomorrow.
Cheers, bud. Simple and helpful.
i,ve a similiar tap, its working fine except i have to turn the tap a few times to get some water out(cold tap), the hot tap takes just one turn.
How would you do this if the copper piping goes right up to the tap. Would I have to turn the mains tap off and drain all the water from the tank?
I'm from lithuania, and I've got that so called caravan house with english sinks. I been twisting my brains how to reach the pipe joint, and here you go english people using some kind of monstrous claw tool which i see first time in my life. I'll be without a water for another freaking today, before I'll find this tool
Do I need to use the isolate values if I have already turned off the stopcock?
Fantastic video! Just replaced the pillar taps in my bathroom.. only problem is that there is slight leak where the nut connects the pipe to the tap. Can you advise why this is happening?
How would you get the copper thread out of an old tape to put in a new tape ( little copper thread pip in tape??
Very clear and helpful, many thanks!!!
fantastic always great to watch your videos. hold tight
hi,can you tell me what size thread is on those taps please
Thank you very informative 😊
Will definitely give it a try..
Thank u so much ,, watching this did help alot
Thanks mate I was dreading this
The pipe that feeds my taps isn't the flexible type shown in this video, it's an old fashioned solid copper pipe. This means I can't get in with a tube wrench to loosen the plastic nut. What tool can I use? Any thoughts?
Please can you do a video on how to replace a heating water pump, and explain what you should look for when replacing an old one? Like what the numbers that are printed on them mean and so on?
We have done one but will be doing an update soon! PP!
Found it! Cheers mate! Hola!
The plastic nuts underneath my taps are stuck. What tool should I use to get them off?
I can't get to the nut with a spanner to undo it, any suggestions?
I have this sort of set up in kitchen sink. I have two taps and I want to replace it with a one tap/mixer.. How do I do this? Is it possible without drilling any holes or buying a new sink?
Do you have a video about isolators that start leaking as soon as you move them?
Would it be the same if I just turned off my main water supply that’s in the bathroom anyway just easier.
Love the vid..when the taps runs it's very loud...any ideas how to shit it up
please show us how to replace these two separate faucets with one single mixer.. thanks!
Love the Scots accent!
If your changing taps because you can't unscrew & repair the old ones, look at the Easytapsplitter before you change the taps.
Thank you
Hi, can I use a bath mixer tap on the basin. And how do I choose a tap ? What if it doesn't fit?
Thank You, Very Helpful Vid.
As always, great help, even for the littlest jobs :)
Hi, i got the exact same basin and tap and i would like to change it to mixer tap do you think this would work? Both tap hole distance aprox. 8". Please let me know in the comments 🙏 thanks
is possible to fit a bath filler taps in a double tap basin instead of change all basin, thanks
Good, thank you. Wonder if you have a video showing how to replace mixer taps.

Hi, I have a Sensor tap with Manual over ride, it was working at my previous property btut not working where I've moved too, the only difference is where I've moved too the cold water is fed from the water tank in the loft, one plumber has stated I need to get a water pump for extra water pressure my tap needs, a 2nd plumber (today) stated as my bath tap is fine with both cold & hot it's my tap that's at fault, & suggested I install the 2nd one I have to make sure, who would you say is right?
Thanks
You've gotta try doing a Bradley Cooper Impression lol.
HA! Thanks mate I'll try!
Thank you 😉
brilliantly video.
I've got the same basin and taps but I want to change it to a mixer tap. without having to change the basin. can that be done and is there a video?
many thanks
It depends if you want a hole on one end of your basin. You can get a blanking plug. Haven't done a vid on that specific job yet...
Tanks alot it really helped me
Thank you! I did it!
thx very much. keep the good work.
Cool thanks. Nice easy tutorial
No worries!
Why do I see what looks like electrical cable connecting my non kitchen sinks to the copper pipes. Is it a required earthing for static? Do cloakroom taps differ at all from standard bathroom sink taps?
That's the earthing; this prevents you from getting electric shocks if there's some leakage of electric current, caused by fault. 😊
Wew! Thanks! I changed my own tap followng your video! =D
where do you get hold of one of those "claw" tools? and is that the actual name for it..great videos cheers
They’re called a ‘basin wrench’. You can get them at pretty much any DIY store. I got one from Wickes. Only £6.
What do we need to turn those 2 taps into 1?
Hi, how to do one tap only ?
I bought taps that the ad said "waste not supplied". Help please.
great video !when i buy basin taps i insist on replacing the plastic locking nuts with brass ones ! it hard to get a good tighten on the plastic ones without cross -threading them ! unfortunately more and more stuff is being made from sub quality materials!
+Mike Rice Yeah, brass all the way!
Can someone please tell me the actual names of the two tools he used? I want to do this but I don’t know what they are called to buy them. Thanks
Basin wrench £2.99 screw fox 👌
thanks
Brilliant!!!!!!!
What's the name of that tool? I tried to use both a big and small adjustable spanner but it just doesn't fit in the gap between the basin and the wall.
Infuriating because I already have the taps and was ready to go!
It's called a Plumbers Claw Spanner, get an extendable one for tight areas.
Cool how do I change it to a mixer😅
how to change it from 2 taps to a mixer? is the distance between the two taps standard?
Standard is 180mm and mixers are built that way if deck-fed. Rear-fed (going into the wall) 150mm. Always worth checking, however.
Bridge tap for basin
Good video
What if you don't have flexi pipes.. 😢
