I thought Koreans had arrows that bounced off the target and someone signals if it’s a hit. Or a green light. Amazing archery range though!

Mostly yeah. I can't see close enough, but if they were using yu-yip-jeon, those are more likely to stick.

Currently, the points arrow makers are putting on carbon arrows are rounded and not likely to stick into the target. However, these archers are using hornbows and bamboo arrows. Bamboo arrows do have a sharp point of about 60 ° and would be capable of sticking into the rubber surface of the targets. Another factor is that Han San Jeong is on Han San Island which is a National Park. While the park's grounds are well maintained, the targets of the jeong likely are not. The targets would not be resurfaced as frequently as an active jeong. That would result in the rubber faces of the targets deteriorating from exposure to the sun over a long period time and sticking an arrow into them would be quite easy as we see in this video.
Han San Jeong, being where it is, has no members so there is no one to act as a target judge and indicate hits. One member of a party of archers would have to do that. Again, being a National Park because of Admiral Yi Soon Shin's activities there, there is no electricity to most parts of the Park and certainly none to the jeong's pavilion or the targets. Hense, no lights to indicate hits.

@@국궁145 most of my bows are around that poundage too. Kind of need those stronger ones for longer ranges

@@rooroo9216 The distance to the target is 145 metres. A 35 lb. bow drawing 29 inches and arrows weighing 370 grains is about the effective limit for that distance. My winter hornbow is about 42 to 45 lbs. depending on the temperature and I'm currently having problems shooting well over the target. I would that bow here, but not a 35 lb. bow to shoot over water. At Han San Jeong, you're always shooting over water.
