I love how Japan's laws on RV camping are so free you can basically park in any parking place and stay the night and the drone flying laws are very lenient too. goggled it.
Lodging isn't a problem except on private property, but leaving feces and urine is strictly prohibited. Open defecation by tourists is a serious problem in Japan now, so everyone must stay in a parking lot with a toilet. Some people think it's an empty mountain, but it's a place that is managed and cleaned and loved by the local residents.

I love onsen so much and I'm so glad that you enjoy it as a great experiece here in japan. I just want to remind you guys that when you get inside the onsen bathtub, please tide up your hair before you soak. Bathing in japan is one of a ritual form in our daily life.We cleansed our body first then soak to purify our body, mind and soul. The reason of nakedness is to submit ourselves to nature ( or to connect to a spiritual aspect ) so we keep the water clean inside the tub. Be cleansed and let alone nature heal the body, refresh the mind , get reset and get ready for the next day to come. These are our daily habit. If you get another chance to experience onsen, enjoy nature sorround you, listen to sound of water and just relax. 😊
