Another great video, the learning experience is never ending and you continue to cover many aspects of being a (detector) prospector, I think this video is my favorite as it touches on the underlying mental fortitude required and helps us to understand why building resilience is so important in order to minimise short-cuts as we get tired of swinging and digging. In my experience, if my mindset starts wavering at the start of the day for any reason or as I fatigue during the day while detecting from digging trash then I know it's time to rest, recover and re-focus, this occurred earlier today as I detected an area which included an old track packed down with 'bluemetal' screenings and had to detect only up to the edges of the track to stay focused, my last four outings (20 hrs total) have yielded No Gold but plenty of lead shot etc. Not complaining because over the previous 6 months I have detected about 40 pieces of gold (total weight of 45 grams) and recently having a few issues with my 7000 plus my Parkinson's doesn't like me being out in the heat these days.

Thanks Matt, l enjoy all your videos. Just wondering if you could do a video on what requirements are needed to detect in the territory. I’m wanting to get back into it after a long break but most of my experience has been in Victoria. I have no idea up here as Victoria has so much crown land where just a miners right will legally let you prospect. I just want to do the right thing. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely I can mate. I have it made already, but it’s taking some time to edit. Welcome back to the NT.

I bought my new GPX 6000 last year and only used it twice to hunt for something and only once so far to look for gold with it. A young fellow was with me to pinpoint with my X-Terra 70. I got a loud >”beer can”< type signal with my 6000 and then we used the 70 to pinpoint with it and the TID screen said minus -8 on an about 6 to 8 inch big black rock. I did not bring a magnet with me. I still don’t know if it was a ‘hot rock’ OR ‘meteorite’?? I would like to talk to somebody to find out exactly what minus -8 means on the X-Terra 70?? I want to go check it again as soon as the weather warms up but it is in the middle of winter here right now in Canada and the ground is frozen where I live.

Oh wow it could be a meteorite. GPX6000 is a great machine. 👍 Hopefully it warms up a little so you can get back amongst it. ⚒️

I start detecting as soon as I move from the car. I don’t turn it off until I return to the car. That could be two four hour stints. I never carry my detector, it’s always on the ground. I found a 28g solid nugget under a beer can one boot scrape down. It’s on video.
