I absolutely agree with you those albums produced by George Young and Harry Vanda was the REAL ac/dc!!!! While their revival with Brian Johnson is nothing short of incredible I still think Bon was irreplaceable.
There would be no AC/DC without Malcolm. Obviously, Harry and George played an unmistakably huge part. Anyone wanting to know more about AC/DC should check out the very small book, "Why AC/DC Matters". Awesome read. Thank you for taking time out of your life to make this video!! I love your lessons.
Excellent attention to detail! Your key strength as a tutor is that you understand the idiosyncrasies of each guitarist, in my opinion. Malcolm and Keith Richards sometimes lamented that no one other than AC/DC and The Stones played the “roll” in rock n roll, meaning the swing syncopation rhythm. “Bad Boy Boogie” is a fascinating example of this. You can play the riff with a swing drum track and it sounds phenomenal. Then switch the drums to the straight rhythm and you get something reminiscent of the trick The Stones used in “Midnight Rambler”. (Incidentally, AC/DC’s “She’s Got Balls” is a similar riff to BBB but more syncopated.) I thought you would enjoy thinking about this given how much you enjoy analysing guitarists’ personalities. Anyway, you have given Malcolm a lovely tribute. On behalf of AC/DC fans, I thank you.
Gone shootin has an awesome groove to it. Once you learn how to play it you just get in the zone and fucking groove to that tune all night. I looked at heaps of tabs and watched heaps of different covers. I learnt a few different ways to play it. I had a little help from my guitar teacher but after he showed me one way i picked up the other two ways my self.
@Jacob's Gaming and Music yeah i have i use to watch tht all the time angus just cruising round to the beat and hill banging away with smoke in mouth being one cool cat man .
You’re one of the best guitar teachers here on the internet! I’d appreciate if you did a lesson of decibel or satellite blues maybe both haha anyway I love your teaching and how precise you are about everything. Keep rocking🖤🖤🖤
Thank you once again for the lesson. To say you are the best is stating the obvious. You really nail these lessons. I am amazed at how you even pick up ghost notes etc. Have tried searching the net to find out about you. Nothing. Andy is all there is. You are one smooth operator. Keep up the good work. We really appreciate it Mr Andy -----.
Thanks so much for this lesson. You do a great job with all your lessons. I also like the fact you stick with the same pickups on that Les Paul. Seems like people switch out pickups like strings in todays world. Mine will never leave my LP. R.I.P Mr Young.
Dude, this is a fun tune! Really enjoyed learning it. All these years and never worked this one up. But thanks to guys like you that do all the work, guys like me can be ready at band rehearsals with a new tune ready to introduce. I use to set for hours with the old rewind button on a cassette player working up songs. Don't have time for that anymore. Thanks man!
Thanks Douglas Casey. I put a huge amount of time and effort into making these videos. I like to keep them free for all of those that can't afford it, but if you're getting something from them and have the means please support what I do. Cheers, Andy www.shutupandplay.ca/donate.html
Hey Thanks for the Video. Love all your tutorials. This is one of my favorites from ACDC. Great playing, explanations, great pace. You cut right to the point. A lot of tutorials are SOOOOO slow paced and wordy. Keep em coming! 🤘😎🎸👍
You sir are the best. I really enjoy your videos and have used one to learn a particular song ( and yes I donated nudge nudge to others) great job and Thanks
I could not agree with your comments about their golden period any more. It is refreshing to hear someone saying what is so obvious to me.. I've been listening to those albums since the late seventies and nothing comes close. Hard rock heaven! Check out Neil Youngs ragged glory dude.
It is hard to say who the " best" guitar player is due to the 'many styles'.. people without any real music knowledge think that a great guitar player is some one who regurgitates a million notes a second.. I have this argument all of the time..The simplicity of AC/DC riffs is "The Magic" . Malcoms' groove would have me and my friends banging heads back in the late seventies when I was a teenager ( Typical basement -black light-black light posters- lots of weed 🙄🙄🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣!!!) AAAHHH 😏😏 The great times!! I want to be a kid again 🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂!!! Thank you for the lessons.. You are a phenomenal guitar player and wonderful teacher !! Stay safe !!
Thanks for this great video. I wish you would more AC/DC tutorials. I know there are many others here on YT but as you mentioned at the end of the vid where some bands lack the AC/DC precision that made the band a cut and then some above the others, some tutorials lack or do not respect the precision you show. 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Great Lesson! Would love to see a comprehensive lesson (rhythm and lead parts) for "Up To My Neck in You" the only thing on youtube now for that song are number of covers that aren't very good.
I just love that you get AC/DC....Let There Be Rock & Powerage!!!! I was fortunate enough to see them with Bon 4 times....yeah I'm old. People always say Bon was the best front man ever, those who say that never saw him, he wasn't the best front man, but he was the best lyricist and vocalist. He was an ok front man.....Angus was always the front man of AC/DC. Awesome Bon interview here ruclips.net/video/-M-0S6B-3Zw/видео.html Malcolm is so under-rated, thank you for giving him props.......R.I.P Malcolm and God bless.
@Shutup & Play - guitar tutorials please i am trying to play the song on my acoustic guitar and while i ve understood what i have to play i am getting a wrong sound (notes cant be heard on the 5-7 part of the rhythm section) is it cause i am playing on my acoustic or because i dont pick the right stringes cause i pick A D or should i pick A D G please help me also great vid and please do girls got rhythm would be great!!!
I never saw them with Bon but I did decide to give up Kiss when Highway to Hell came out. I mean fuckin hell, The Wall blew my ten year old mind to pieces. Van Halen and Bat out of hell. I heard Free Bird and learned they had a plane crash. Disco was hearing Rod Stewart was gay. Lol Great times
Andy what band do you or did you play with so we can catch you playing on stage brother, please throw me a bone here. Again thanks for the knowledge you pass along. I'm going to try again to give you a monthly donation, three times it's rejected me and I had plenty of money in the bank each time. It even wouldn't let me donate on that paypal site you sent me to. Come on folks he has hundreds of hours invested in putting these tutorials together. God bless all. t
Malcolm, his poor D-string and younger brother, an Aussie who gave the devil guitar lessons, the lunatic on vocals, the third guitarist who forgot two of his strings at home, a metronome on drums, and it’s produced by Vanda and Young? You can say Let There Be Rock’s got it all…
Fantastic playing and instruction, as always. Thank you. The Easybeats were playing more of a pop sound, but placing them of the context of popular music at the time, they were pretty rockin and wrote great riffs. Check out the early hit of theirs 'Sorry', and the chuga chuga of the rhythm guitar and feedback on the lead. It was a new sound. Link: ruclips.net/video/drNqZWzj5GY/видео.html Vanda and Young wrote and produced a ton of big hits performed by other artists down here in Australia, from heavy rockers, to beautiful sweet stuff, to disco. Those two were also the rhythm and lead players in the above track. Cool as!, those two. Malcolm and Angus must have picked up a ton of tips from listening to their older brothers and their band mates.
Yeah, I guess it all depends on what you like. I like them both. Love the rawness of Powerage, but also love the tightness of Highway To Hell. For me, Mutt is one of the greatest producers ever to come down the pike. I read a Bryan Adams interview once where he said that if his mother was a singer, Mutt would make her a star! Haha. Cheers Andy
Shutup & Play - guitar tutorials yeah I guess it's subjective but for me let there be rock and powerage they just have something hth doesn't. If you listen to if you want blood the album the way they sound that night in Glasgow sounds in my opinion more polished than the let there be rock Paris live show. But the auditorium could be the reason for the sound difference. I love powerage I think its their best and time will prove that I think. Great tutorial by the way.
Yeah, I hear ya. If I had to choose between the two, it'd be Powerage. I like the songs on both but it really comes down to raw vs polished. Thing is selling records is a business and Mutt's sound and approach has sold millions for all kinds of different artists. Powerage sales in the US was platinum, 1M where as Highway To Hell was 7X that at 7M. Some of that has to do with the stage of evolution of the band but a lot of it has to do with ML's production which has always been extremely radio friendly. Of course none of that matters really, what you like or don't like is entirely subjective. Record companies don't really care about anything but sales. They analyze the numbers and go with what works the best, just like any other business would do right? Cheers
Shutup & Play - guitar tutorials just come back for another go at bad boy I was playing as you are but I couldn't remember watching this until I came to the comments haha
For more information on this lesson go here: www.shutupandplay.ca/bad-boy-boogie--rhythm.html
Shutup & Play - guitar tutorials thanks for the upload
Love your style, paying tribute to a band that inspired many of us to pick up a guitar. I love your tone. Thanks for what you do.
I absolutely agree with you those albums produced by George Young and Harry Vanda was the REAL ac/dc!!!! While their revival with Brian Johnson is nothing short of incredible I still think Bon was irreplaceable.
I found myself mouthing "On the day I was born, the rain fell down..." several times during this.
Was trouble brewin' in your home town?
@@CycloneJack
Oddly enough there was, and on a Sunday to boot - while having lunch with my six older brothers. Everyone was scared.
Magic tutorial thank you so much. So sad we have lost Malcolm but I am sure we will keep him alive in our thoughts forever.
Hey mate, your first words bring tears to my eyes. Thanks!
There would be no AC/DC without Malcolm. Obviously, Harry and George played an unmistakably huge part. Great tutor my friend, could you please do a lesson for Gone shooting, AC/DC. All three parts. The ones on here are all over the place.
Have you found a good lesson on Gone Shooting yet?
Gone shootin has an awesome groove to it. Once you learn how to play it you just get in the zone and fucking groove to that tune all night. @Bad Boys Boogie your Username XD
Also Yep Gone Shooting is pretty fun to play for me at least 🤠
I share exactly your opinion on ACDC, Bon Scott's era is their best! Great lesson! Cheers!
Simple but super precise. Therein lies the problem...."precise".
You’re one of the best guitar teachers here on the internet! I’d appreciate if you did a lesson of decibel or satellite blues maybe both haha anyway I love your teaching and how precise you are about everything. Keep rocking🖤🖤🖤
love your tutorials! I can't believe anyone would ever hit the thumbs down button. Perplexing.
Could you please do a lesson on Gone Shootin by ACDC as well?
Thank you once again for the lesson. To say you are the best is stating the obvious. You really nail these lessons. I am amazed at how you even pick up ghost notes etc. Have tried searching the net to find out about you. Nothing. Andy is all there is. You are one smooth operator. Keep up the good work. When I'm needing a power nap, and can't waste time, this is my go to song.
The rhythm and timing is perfect ..
Thanks so much for this lesson. You do a great job with all your lessons. I also like the fact you stick with the same pickups on that Les Paul. Seems like people switch out pickups like strings in todays world. Mine will never leave my LP. R.I.P Mr Young.
Thanks, really like the way you put this stuff across; you are a good teacher and very easy to listen to!
Spot on, One day people will realize that it's Malcolm's right hand that makes it what it is: awesome !
Incredible lesson, words and concepts! Thank you for doing this! I always love Malcom
I COMPLETELY agree with you on Bon Scott!!!! God rest his soul🙏

Thans for the vid. Lesson was great and I enjoyed your thoughts on Malcolm, George, Bon, producing, etc.
You sir are the best. I really enjoy your videos and have used one to learn a particular song ( and yes I donated nudge nudge to others) great job and Thanks
COMPLETELY agree with you on the production on LTBR and Powerage. Listen on good headphones and enjoy the ear candy.
Thanks, great teaching, much appreciated
I agree, Bon was awesome.

Beautiful 👍👍👍 please lesson from '' Love Angry Man'' thank you so much.
This song was the best on ‘If you want blood’. Totally kicked butt
Hey there, thanks for tutorials, can you possibly take a look at Robert Plants ‘Big Log’ ? Some great guitar playing in there.
I’m not a Les Paul fan but that guitar is beautiful.
The first riif in the intro is from wich song? Good Video by the way! ;)
Never see the likes of acdc again best rock band ever by god they wrote some brilliant rock tunes

I would have to argue a little with you on Bon being an incredible front man.
Thank You !!!
Thanks

The rhythm parts for AC/DC are just fun to play
AC/DC played at my high school in the 70's, I thought they were pretty good...
Thats sick
That is so fucking brilliant!
Where dude? Just out of jealousy
@@michaeladams5865 St Ives High School in Sydney Australia, and I think the year was 1973...
I never saw them with Bon but I did decide to give up Kiss when Highway to Hell came out.

Very clear thanks. Pretty sure the record is tuned half a step down tho
This version of the song makes me feel a ZZ Top vibe! Sharp Dressed man perhaps. I really think that Tres Hombres influenced the Youngs heaps.
I hear you about Bon Scott. Angus Young is alleged to have said (about BIB album), "It would have been Bon's greatest achievement." sigh
Not one of my favorites,,,, but TY just the same! 😎✌
PLEASE PLEASE DO “SATELLITE BLUES” I will donate $20 if you teach the solo
If the original song is in between A and A flat, then should I tune my whole guitar half a half step down?
Sounds like sharp dressed man
please do more malcolm

I prefer the vanda and young production to mutt lang I think powerage sounds way better than highway to hell.
