Hey DC, not sure if this guy’s a real pilot( first video I’ve ever watched him) but let’s pretend he was a passenger on this exact model of plane and both pilots became incapacitated. Would he be able to step in and land the plane if he were able to stay calm and not forget all of the controls+ listening to ATC? Thanks in advance. I’m only two minutes in so no clue if he’s an actual pilot yet lol.
May your sky’s be clear and your passion for flying be the same as day one, cheers buddy.
Edit: Well, now I know he’s flying a 737-800. I’m gonna take a guess and say he’d have a very good chance of flying and landing a 737-800 if he were forced to do so. I’m impressed by the ATC( not the long wait time at SEA), other pilots, etc. if I were just listening to this I’d think it were a real world recording.

The reason the plane was slow to climb out was due to the fact that you were in CLB-2 on the N1 Limit page. When you set the temp to 67, the FMC will select a lower CLB power so that the power doesn't surge forward after it reaches the acceleration altitude. You can manually set CLB or CLB-1 and it will give a more noticeable increase in acceleration/climb. This can be seen at 9:23.

I wouldn't be surprised if he opened one of those windows and wind started to blow inside the cockpit. How real can you get? Hey Pat...beautiful setup...WOW!!! Not sure what resolution you're running but wanted to pass this on for whatever it's worth. I have an nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card and I use a LG 43 inch 4K TV as my monitor. I can run X Plane 12 in 4K but have to reduce my graphics settings so I played around with the resolution and tried running at 1080 x 1920 and I'm blown away with how good it looks. This morning...live weather at Chicago KORD in the default Cessna 172...graphics rendering almost maxxed including clouds and world scenery objects I'm getting 60 FPS and that's nothing to sneeze at...it looks REALLY GOOD...sharp and crisp....i have anti-aliasing at 4 and antriscopic filtering at 2 and I am really shocked at how good it looks along with the big boost in FPS....something to think about if you or anyone needs higher FPS and good looks....I didn't know 1080 x 1920 could looks so good.

    • @pat738W

Thanks for sharing your settings. I’m using 3 x RTX4090’s in 4k @30fps with all sliders pushed to the Right except for anti-aliasing which isn’t required for 4k. Never a stutter. I very pleased with my visuals now and have spent years playing this “get better visual results” game. Again I appreciate the input.

Only in a sim can one step out into the sky. :D With no FO. You have to leave the autopilot to use the loo. IRL there has to be an FO. One never knows when a pilot may get sick or faint or whatever. I was just watching a real life flight where a husband and wife were flying. The husband being pretty old started having heart issues and passed out. That was no time for the wife to freak out. They had to get their 19 seat plane back on the ground and the wife had very little flight training. She had to take over with help from ATC and another small jet flew up to fly beside her to help her land as she never did land a plane before. They didn't have passengers other than a few friends on board. She stayed calm and landed safely with the help of ATC and then the experienced pilot in the plane of the same kind lead her safely to the intended destination. There is another real life incident where a man in his 80's who never flew before had to take control of a Cessna with 0 experience ad the captain died of a heart attack from natural causes being over age 85. The captain was Johns best friend. John, age 84 was suddenly the FO. He was brilliant and got the plane safely to the airport with help from ATC alone. He didn't panic or freak out over his best friend having just died beside him. Both these people stayed calm and collected until off the plane. Grief and freaking out is not to be done whilst flying. Just like when I found out that a best friend of mine died while I was driving. I had to just temporarily dismiss it and keep on driving. Crying and driving is not feasible. Stay safe everyone.
