    I can only imagine the reactions of Justin’s fellow servicemen & servicewomen, when they ask what he’s watching and he says, “oh, it’s my cousin walking her Canadian Lynx.”
    Instant street cred. 😁😎

    Gorgeous Max.
    He minds better then most dogs now days, cause people don't care to spend the time or effort to train them.
    Those trees look so interesting to him.
    Golden rod, pretty never thought they smelled that good though.
    Thank you Bernie, love every video you put up.

    What an incredible animal. I have spent a lot of time in far northern Vermont and New Hampshire and I have never seen one in the wild. Where I live now (central Connecticut) I have seen many bobcat but I would live to see the Lynx regain a foothold in the northern U.S. Love to hear him purr and to see him so happy. Thank you so much for sharing.

    • @kevinmadore1794

      LOL!! When I first viewed this video, I was thinking EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!! One of those little brown cotton-tails is going to make a run for it, and Bernie will just be along for the ride. I'll bet that cat can exert quite a bit of force on that leash when he decides he's going places. Imagine encountering someone else walking a dog and Max decides he wants a piece of that pooch! Max could probably take most dogs in a tussle.

    • @pmcmpc
      @pmcmpc 4 года назад +2

      @@wildlifebernie I'd suggest getting one of the heavy duty extendable leads with a brake for very large dogs, to attach to his harness. It'll give him more leeway and you can slow him before stopping him. Also little chance of him pulling you off balance. So you won't constantly feel like you have to stop him bolting. It'll probably make him calmer too and you'll eventually be able to take him for proper walks. Also, one of the jacket style harnesses would be a lot more secure, and wouldn't dig into him.

    So reminds me of my Rosie when he would go on walks with me around our apartment complex common areas. Always got comments from the neighbors about a cat on a harness and leash. He does exactly the same things Rosie did! A walk is supposed to be a walk, not a plunk down wherever and scent the ground.....! Funny, you almost said the same thing I used to say to Rosie when I got him into his harness, "step and step!". Rosie's harness looked like police body armour, even had a St Michael police medal that looked like a police badge. He had a S.W.A.T. badge on it, too! He used to patrol around like the complex was his "beat". Glad to see Max and you are doing well. God bless!

    Is Max and his owner doing fine?

      @Timur Kainazarov - Yes, we are fine but busy. Max is well gaining his winter weight and fur is thickening. Thank you for asking. Max sends his purrs.

    I took my cat on a leash for years.... it takes a retractable one, so it can move better...

      @Glam Boy - I have a retractable but the clip is plastic and the cording seems thin. I always get nervous that one or the other will break if he gets an excited moment to dash.

      WildlifeBernie of corse my cat was normal size... I cannot figure what kind of leash would suit a lynx :-o maybe one for some very big dog like a bulldog or so...

    You can look into Ikea collars, they recently added "pet stuff" to their stores. My dogs had same problem, both choking and slipping out. Ikea ones combine neck restrain and armpit restrain, but leash really grabs armpits first. They also have "springy" leashes to help the hand. Just be cautious about sizing, my small pooch (not much bigger than housecat) got into medium one just nice. Hope it helps.

      @@wildlifebernie Zoo Montana has one of these cats, named Fierca, and I believe she started out life as someone's pet. The handlers there regularly take that cat for walks within the zoo grounds and they have a harness on her that looks pretty robust. facebook.com/595177900527097/photos/a.2293183387393198/2293183707393166/?type=3&theater Look for videos of "Fierca Lynx" and you might see more of what the harness looks like. The zoo might even be willing to share where they got it.

      @@kevinmadore1794 - Hey Kevin, Thanks for the lynx... I mean links. LOL. Uh, this looks like a harness I had for Max. One day he pulled backwards, dropped his shoulders like in a yoga stance and slipped out of it. I went to look for it inn the middle of this and now can't find it. See this video and tell me what you think - ruclips.net/video/KJRw9ij7l80/видео.html

      @@wildlifebernie Hi Bernie. In the photos of Fierca, the Zoo Montana Kitty, she's wearing a couple of harnesses. It's the black and red one that looks the most secure to me. It covers the chest area, with openings for the neck and the front legs. It also appears to fit very snugly, so it is difficult to imagine how a cat could back out of it.....but then, I have never taken a lynx for a walk. Here's a video I found of Keeper Melanie walking this same cat: ruclips.net/video/jwsyTqHyvSQ/видео.html
      Other images of this cat being walked show the leash slack, so clearly, the cat is used to this. I'm just guessing that if you walk Max more often, he'll probably relax more too. Check out the Chewy Website. They have a large variety of different pet harnesses. Perhaps they have something that will work. You could also try contacting Zoo Montana. Perhaps they will share what they use. I believe that Fierca was born in 2011, so she's about the same age as Max, although a fair bit smaller.

    hello Miss @UCi07_YO55liaXWqJFQjVu6A? Do you know how cats make that purring sound?

    • @wildlifebernie
      @wildlifebernie  4 года назад

      @Richard Smith - Scientists are still puzzled over the exact mechanism of purring. But the most accepted idea is that a region of the cat 's brain signals the muscles that make up its voice box, called the laryngeal muscles, to vibrate.
