Seriously tempted going back to a 200 from my Fiesta ST3 Mk7.5 240BHP CP2-E and having this package fitted! Takes an all time great hot hatch and turns it into the GOAT
Exactly, I understand why people Turbo/ supercharge them for that low down grunt which is fun just like my stage2 ST, but needing to rev it out is so much more involving
Absolutely no issues with the increased hp/torque, the synchro failure on the TL4 is generally driver error - a Honda gearbox can stomach hard shifts with big power but the Renault 197/200 needs an element of mechanical sympathy like the box in the 172/182.
@@stoneautomotive as I have I, not sure I’d agree. The 200 is a bit fat compared to the 182 etc so a shorter diff and sensible weight loss works very well. I personally love a Rev happy engine. You wouldn’t want to drive to France in one but it focusses it for B road blasting IMO.
Glad you enjoyed 😎 Yes the modifications/ engine packages are the same for the 197/200 - check out engine dynamics website for full details on the packages
Tough one! There is something magical about the 172/182 that I can’t seem to let go but the 200 is more suited to my driving style now which is rarely just b-road blasting, I think with the cams, airbox & ecu calibration it sounds fantastic and genuinely put a big smile on my face blasting about 😬
@@stoneautomotive im actually to make the same decision. build up a 182 or buy 200 and do some customization. im from switzerland so it is not guaranteed that i can fit the engine kit due tue emission restrictions and stuff. so.... what im gonna do... :/
@@MisterMaa oh that is a tough one, the Uk is a little more “relaxed” when it comes to emissions! Both cars have there niggles and the 172/182 are starting to suffer with rust if used all year round (just do what I do with the 172 Cup and never drive it, nothing goes wrong then 😅)
Sounds wicked - I really like this, looks spot on too
M3 next on the channel 👀

Honestly the engine dynamics package is how they should have left the factory from Renault 😎

Top video👍 love the series
Glad you enjoyed Joe 😎
Great series of vids, like your honesty. Was the rev limit raised with the new cams, or kept the same?
Glad you enjoyed 😬
Well, guess I'm sticking cams in my 200 then 😂
Honestly it really transforms the engine/ power delivery 😎
That sounds bloody good.
For a little 2 litre four cylinder it certainly sounds awesome 😎
My belts due this year 😬👍👍
Perfect excuse 😬
Looks great considering cams when my belts are due is there a big difference between the 402 & 403 profiles?
Pass, Andy advised he generally see’s better results over all from the 403 so that was the chosen profile for the best outcome 😬
How does the TL4 cope with added power? Are the cheese synchros delaminating a power handling issue or just a material fault?
Absolutely no issues with the increased hp/torque, the synchro failure on the TL4 is generally driver error - a Honda gearbox can stomach hard shifts with big power but the Renault 197/200 needs an element of mechanical sympathy like the box in the 172/182.
Needs a lwfw, shorter diff, and some weight removing.
Been there done that with my 172 cup, makes for a horrible road car 😅
As a b-road blaster + track car that you could drive home it’s a great set up

great video thank you, do these changes also apply to a 197 aswell? and what are the prices involved please?
Glad you enjoyed 😎

@@stoneautomotive brill many thanks for your reply 👍👍
@@stoneautomotive hi ive looked at the prices for this work, and i was very pleasantly surprised to be honest! 👍👍
Sounds sick!! 8:40 coolant temp switch playing up? shouldn't coolant temp be in the middle? Great series.
Second bar on them, thought the same with Matt’s previous white one which was the same 🤷♂️
In my Clio it's even below what's shown here...
@@stoneautomotive Ahh I didn't know that. My 172 sits in the middle so was going off that 😀
@@c.b.4270 I'd be checking your coolant temp sensor or thermostat.
Temp looks spot on they sit just under the third line and get up to it when they on it if thermostat has issues they sit around the second line
this engine is the vtec of renault
It’s certainly as close as you’ll get sound wise 😬
so conclusion when you could start from zero: would you go with a 172/182 or a 200? :) not as a daily driver, as a fun tool for B-Roads

What RPM is the TQ? still around 5000rpm+ ?
TQ?
@@stoneautomotive TorQue curve :).
As we know F4R only come around 5000rmp ish

You can see the graph in episode two 😎
How much did stage 2 cost?
Message Andy at Engine Dynamics, been a few years since this video so pricing may have changed 👍
WOW thought mine sounded good, where is the front splitter from ?
Pass I’m afraid, it was already fitted to the car when Matt the owner collected it.
Please tell me the manufacturer of the rear spoiler
Hi,
It was already fitted/ painted on the car when Matt bought it so we don’t know I’m afraid ☹️
👍
5:27..... look at the temp...🤔 kinda 🥶
New thermostat has been installed since this video 😅 (and a new radiator too)
0-100?
🤷♂️
We didn’t have a equipment to time it, I think the launch will be more important than the power increase
Up for sale already ??
Yep Matts put it up for sale, it’s the longest he’s owned a car in years (he normally gets bored in 3 months)
Stunning little car for someone!
Hellooooooooooooo!
🤣
