Even though I was a Yankee fan, I always admired Ron Cey as a gutsy, great third baseman.

Outside of a few Evel Knievel crashes, the scariest thing I ever saw live on tv. Glad you're ok penguin. As a Mets fan I was rooting for you guys.
The Goose through flames but was never a head Hunter A very unfortunate incident.

I watched boom boom mancini kill a man name Duck Koo Kim in the ring on ABC wide world of sports, no comparison between the 2. Goose was head hunting for sure....

@@jimmiemangionrejr1818 I saw that fight too. Boom Boom was never the same again. He retired not long after. How does that mean the goose aimed for the penguin's head?
Oh yeah, we didn't know he was dead until hours after he left ring, so how scary was that to witness as a boxing match?

@@JaDem148 Cey had been on a hitting streak, and the series was tied 2 games to 2 games. Wasnt a secret back then that pitchers hit batters that were hot

@@jimmiemangionrejr1818 Okay, I don't think Goose had that mentality, especially at that velocity but I get your point. Can we at least agree that a few of Evel Knieval's crashes were awfully darn scary too?🤪

@@JaDem148 I was never impressed by Evel. I thought he was a dumb ass, but yes he did get hurt a lot. I was a huge Yankees fan back them due to my grandparent's neighbor Lou Piniella (who also payed for the yankees back then), so I can tell you from watching with my own eyes Goose's thing was FEAR. Making batters fear him. He absolutely did throw at guys at times because thats what kept them from hitting his pitches. He was predictable but WILD, and he mean mugged every batter who stepped to the plate against him.

That was terrifying. Thought The Penguin 🐧 was finished. But the fact he was holding his head with his hands was encouraging.

When the Dodgers had serious players like the Penguin and didn't want to clown too much like they do today with hand signals to the helmet when they get a hit and had a motivator manager like Tommy Lasorda!

I’m surprised on the early years of baseball. That more players weren’t seriously injured.Without batting helmets.
