Awesome!! Cant wait to see the finished product. Hope your ideas are protected since you're being so forthcoming on how it's made. Looking forward to next update
As soon as you said an adjustable I knew it would be innovative because that's how you roll or you don't. VERY cool and looking forward to watching this evolve Shane ! Best wishes !!
Please rethink the heft. There's nothing quite like the efficiency of gravity! I'd rather lightly touch my face and control the speed of the fall of a hefty razor against gravity than trust my "pull down" of something uber-light that also needs the "press in" to the skin to replicate the efficiency of the hefty razor! Know what I mean? By the way, that head tech looks very fucking sweet! I've got the adjustable Rex Ambassador so i'm looking forward to seeing this new model and how it stacks up!
It will be heavy enough for gravity to do the work, but not overly heavy because heavy razors restrict your options. It’s easier to add pressure when you need it than it is to take it away (see our benefits of titanium video). As a brand, we’re trending strongly away from the super-heavy stuff and toward more maneuverable, agile products. This should have the weight of a normal stainless razors. Something around 100g hopefully.
That’s super exciting. I have a ton of adjustables and I agree, many are firmly on one end of the spectrum or the other. I hope the handle shares a familial relationship with the Blackbird.
I've rewatched this about a dozen times - the head cap narrowness is absolutely fantastic. This mechanism reminds me so much of the Tatara but I like the profile more. Totally geeking out here! I wonder if the wave spring/retainer could have the weight increased to reduce baseplate wobble (similar to the Gibbs, where weight of the spring really impacts the side to side movement.) Keep up the work Shave & Blackland Team!
Thanks for the thoughtful comment! We'll hit on the wobble improvements in Part 2 and also describe the cause more clearly. In real time, this issue is pretty much fixed, but the videos won't come out for a bit.
This is so cool!! Really loving the face and the bevel. The indicator is super nice - love the idea of going light! Thor's hammer is out IMHO, let's leave the sledgehammers in the past 👍🤣
I just got my Pearl open comb Flexi and it's pretty nice but it is bulky even though I like the heft. If I like this made in India razor this much, Shane will be sure to knock this out of the park!!!
This is really cool to see behind the scenes on the design, decisions and challenges. The head looks innovative for sure. I like adjustables but for me the issue usually is the razor is head heavy instead of being balanced with the handle weight and length. With the 3 piece design there will likely be interchangeable handle options. Titanium is also a really good idea to keep the overall weight down.
The handle works as a lock? Stepless adjust? Wow ... Hope the adjustable top plate can be easily taken apart for cleaning. Curious of the possibility of open comb design, could it work with only swapping bottom plate? It's kind of unthinkable that you share such many detail at this stage. Appreciated and really looking forward for it.
Really interesting. I always wondered why pretty much every modern adjustable razor that we have is huge and bulky when vintage razors like the Gibbs adjustable and others were able to make it as thin as possible. I'm not a fan of razors with huge and bulky heads and no matter how great they shave, a more nimble razor with a slim profile will always be my preference. If you are able to sort out all the issue of your prototype and indeed add a wide range of efficiency and if possible, a way to be used with different angles, since most razor manufacturers these days favor natural and shallow angle, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, that would be an awesome razor.
Very cool and good luck. This looks very innovative! The razors I have purchased from you are super aggressive, so not for me. Hopefully this will cover all levels of aggression and something I can use. I would really like to see less "satin" finishes , it's become too popular in shaving. I like my stainless steel to have some shine and blasting it to a satin finish just removes it's beauty. RazoRock seems to make gorgeous, functional, and affordable stainless steel razors with no problem.
It's a gamble. We think that letting people behind the scenes is going to be worth the risk. Hopefully our customers will support the original innovation rather than the knockoffs. Otherwise, we won't be able to build in public again and that would be a shame.
This is fantastic! Thanks for inviting us on this journey
Waiting for GOLD VECTOR! No one else has this razor. Click LIKE 👍 if you support this idea!

Thank you, Dave! 🙌
Wow!! That's one of the most interesting news this year!!

Great video. Please make a video about the Tradere .
Cool idea and innovative product development process!
Best wishes ☀️
This is ingenious! A three piece adjustable! Satin finish in SS or Ti would be beautiful.
AWESOME! Reminds me of the elegant simplicity of the Tatara Muramasa, but moving on a different axis. Awesome. And yes, lightness is key.
I’m super excited for a titanium adjustable razor. I think it would love to have an adjustable open comb razor too!!!🤞🏼🤞🏼
Very cool Shane. Looking forward to the next video update. This is so cool!!!
Looking really cool 😎
Oooh-waaa… looks Great!
Hope your successful💪🏼
A Blackland titanium adjustable razor? I’m all in!

Very good job shane im waiting to buy it❤
Looking like one amazing product! I love the purest engineering approach from your product line. This new product looks incredible!
Great insight into your design thoughts and challenges. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series of videos.
This is fantastic stuff. The level of detail shown makes me appreciate the skill needed to design a product like this. Cheers!
Incredible

I’m looking forward to your newest innovation! I’ll have mine in Titanium please? 😁
I'm looking forward to this!! I would love to own the titanium version

This is one of the most exciting RUclips preview videos I’ve ever seen! I’m hooked already Shane! Where do I sign up????
Thanks for the support! We're getting close. More updates coming this month and (hopefully) we'll have the launch date determined soon.
Sweet news, hopefully you can do a special early bird price like the blackbird lite ! ❤🎉🙏🏼
Love my new Blackland Satin Brass OC Blackbird, and also love the new Satin Brass Lite plate for the Blackbird.
Exactly right. The handle tightens down to lock in your setting. Loosen to adjust then tighten back down.

👌👍
Are you making an OC version as well?

Amazing stuff Shane! But aren’t you concerned showing the intricacies of the razor on RUclips? Prying eyes from mass producers surly are glued to it..

@@blacklandrazors I suppose those who buy a Blackland won’t look for knock offs and the other way around.
If you can't remove the top plate on the base plate how do we clear the space that is between the top plate and the base plate?
Rinsing, mainly. V2 makes this easier.
@@blacklandrazors you already have a v2.0 envisioned before the v1.0 is out? wow!!!
How does the handle fit into this head design? Can you adjust the razor mid shave without loosening the handle?
