Fantastic caves and caverns - it like a palace`s of sea dwarves :) And what a contrast of quet inner waters and ocean! But isn`t it dangerous to sail without a helmet? May be there are not so many stones dropping from the cliffs without a rain, but I`ll be definitely afraid to catch one with my head )
@timofeykostin1186 Wonderful comments Tim !! Thank you 😊 St Ninian's and, in fact, the whole of Shetland's coastline is a shear joy to Kayak around !! I don't have a problem with not wearing a crash hat as most of the caves are very stable sold rock eroded by wave action over countess years. Some are very narrow and tight in places, so care is required to explore their inner reaches safely. Keep browsing and enjoying... I've a huge amount of trip videos from this year's trips still to edit. So make sure you've clicked the notifications bell to ensure you're informed when they're uploaded 😉 😀 Best Regards Geoff

@@서키포 Hi User... many thanks for your comments. Yes, Shetland is a place where you have to be on top of your game with technical paddling, otherwise the consequences could be dire especially when paddling complex areas solo. I am so jealous, and I live here! I loved Kayaking but the capsize training scared the "carp" out of me (I don't think we have those in Shetland so they must have fled too), started with sailing, I got knocked out and over the side with a boom one week after the capsize training for that! 😂 I still have a boat of course though, but she's a Shetland model with a 6hp 4 stroke- Canoe/kayaking is something else entirely, I really want to try again

Hi David, thanks and yes what a 1st day to be back on Shetland, a real treat and St Ninians is a magical little group!! Yeah you never know who's watching and whether they realise the capabilities of our craft! Pro's and Con's in everything I suppose
Goodness amazing! Done a fair bit of Sibbing and Ribbing but the sea kayaking awesome, such small boats yet can power through those tides and winds, not for me though much too scary, sofa sea kayaker lol!😊
Hi Andrew and thanks for your comments 👍 I used to love being at the back of our diving Rib as we ploughed through tide races off the West of Scotland, 1 hand on the dive bottle rack behind the console and my foot pressed firmly on the top of the transom as we became airborne off the top of the waves....magically exhilarating!! Aye, the sea kayak is an impressive craft that can handle impressive seas, I absolutely love mine and feel like I'm part of the boat when out in it...another magical experience and my love for over 50 + years. I'll keep going out and taking the video footage and you keep enjoying on the sofa and sending your comments 👍👍👍and we've got a deal 😂
Serious Q... do you ever wonder whether you are safe, whether you should turn around? Do you have a phone tracking link to 'base' so others know where you are? Fantastic video as always .. so envious !!
Hi KJ, 🤔🤔🤔 I'd say its like most sports you can turn things up a notch to make them more "action/adrenaline" sports or just leisurely. But either way when your dealing with nature there's always an element on "calculated risk" involved. Time in the boat (experience) observation and increased skill set is definitely a must but at the end of the day enjoyment and safety are paramount. At 73 and 50plus years sea kayaking, I've done my apprenticeship but age and injuries are weighing heavily on decision making to ensure overall safety. I don't use tracking, I carry all necessary safety equipment and my wife has a rough guide to return times and phone is in the boat and VHF Radio with Bluetooth link to phone on me, but always try to be self sufficient even on multi day exped trips. I hope this clarifies your questions/concerns 😃 and thanks for your welcome comments and joining along with me. Please Shere any content with friends/interested parties. Cheers Geoff

Hi Willy and thanks for your comments. The entire Shetland coastline is superb and St Ninian's is magical, we docked in Lerwick at 7.00am August 20th and I was lucky enough to be on the water for 1.45pm considering I'd promised it was primarily a tourist trip for Shirley and I.
