    I think it is better to do this type of work for fun. I work as Data engineer/ analyst in the US and these salaries are peanut :) if you have the skill you can make much much much higher in other industries

      Does that mean the football analyst doesn't get paid much?

    How much does a scout earn, and also can a scout become a head of recruitment or a sporting director for a team?

    • @chrisgill_UK
      @chrisgill_UK  Год назад

      Thanks for watching Jake. Unfortunately, scouts can be paid very little at the start and in most cases they are unpaid when they set out on their journey. However, after building a network and gaining trust and reputation, it can definitely lead to a head of recruitment or sporting director role (which are usually much more well paid). It will just take time 👍🏼

    Hi, bit late, but how much would you say heads of performance analysis at the top clubs in England earn yearly? I'm 17, looking to become an analyst and I'm interested to know what the pinnacle would be in terms of money in this career, before I get demoralised by the averages.

    • @chrisgill_UK
      @chrisgill_UK  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! It's really tough to say as there is probably a big disparity even between Premier League clubs. For example, head of analysis at Man City will be managing much more people than at another club. Some clubs may choose to have 'head of data' as a separate role, so it depends if you go down the data route or more video/tactical...
      To give an answer though, I'd estimate heads of PA at top Premier league clubs would be paid anywhere from 40k as a minimum (I would hope!) but you really are paid on the value you bring and so I'm sure some will be on 60/70/80+ at the better, richer clubs

      @chrisgill_UK Ok, thank you for this. Information is quite scarce online about analysis careers in football. I'd love to be able to say that my passion for football comes above everything, but passion when combined with hard work needs to be given a decent amount of money.
      Since I've got you here, can you give me any tips and/or advice about analysis? I'm not even sure what area of it I want to work in (recruitment, performance etc)

      Of course, money has to be a factor to consider. I have a playlist with shorter videos in all around working in sport which includes videos on different types of analysis positions and different roles and responsibilities. That should help: ruclips.net/p/PLkukQbkffr_uWhWbTXsXQigvmHxJozlBi@@sam-dd4uq

      Hey Chris, I am currently a first year student majoring in sport management and keen on getting into performance analysis. I am having a bit of trouble understanding uk salaries, as they seem extremely low, almost unlivable, compared to the us. Would 40k a year in the uk serve as a comfortable salary?

    • @chrisgill_UK
      @chrisgill_UK  Год назад

      @@rollericarus Hi Sarosh, thanks for the message. Like most countries, it varies where you live. In London is much different to the north. 40k is above average. Check this out - www.statista.com/statistics/416139/full-time-annual-salary-in-the-uk-by-region/#:~:text=The%20median%20annual%20earnings%20in,pounds%20in%20the%20North%20East.

      @@chrisgill_UK Thanks for the information. I’ve been seeing a lot of premier league jobs on LinkedIn with salaries around the 20-40k range. One that really shocked me was a full time marketing manager position at Brentford which required at least five years of experience, and was only paying 30k. Having been to London before, I can say that the standard of living is quite similar to that in the US, but unfortunately the salaries I am seeing are extremely low. An average American fresh out of school with a bachelors is making 60k a year, in London it’s around 35k usd, and seeing that the costs of living and the value of currency is around the same for both countries, the prospect of living and working in the UK, especially London, is a bit of a turn off.

    If these are ranges. I think people do it for passion then because these figures are extremely loooow

    • @chrisgill_UK
      @chrisgill_UK  9 месяцев назад +1

      These are a year or so old but I would say they probably haven't changed much. There is such a huge range too. If you are really good and work your way up to an elite team, you may earn much more than I've stated, but we still often see far to many 'unpaid' roles and then very low starting salaries. People definitely do for the passion rather than to earn a lot of money, which is a shame given how rich the clubs are and how much impact these roles can have...

    I am considering becoming a GK performance analyst. I used to play as GK professional youth and semi pro senior and I worked as a senior consultant in a Big 4 accounting firm. I'm also from a scientific discipline (Human Biology & Environmental Science). Do you think I have a shot at something like this? I have already started and built my spread sheets and I'm going after goalkeeper trainer in professional clubs in my local area in Belgium and Netherlands.

      Thanks for the comment... You seem to have the background and skillset from what you have said. I personally think the need for more niche roles will continue to grow in he future as we are starting to see clubs take on roles that didnt exist 5 or so years ago. If you haven't already come across him, John Harrison is a good follow on Twitter for GK analysis (@Jhdharrison1) .... All the best 👍🏼
